I always kind of identified with Britain as a German and many Germans probably do. Not only because of the German ancestry of the British monarchy. Culturally we're obviously kind of similar, but historically the relations have been rather positive as well before the 20th century. Before the horrors of WW1 and WW2 Britain was actually a rather close ally of Prussia during the Napoleonic Wars, the War of the Spanish Succession and the Seven Years' War. But even after WW1 and WW2 Britain showed that despite Germany's aggression it was willing to get back to normal terms again. Lloyd George for example tried to weaken the Treaty of Versailles and many Brits later symphasized with Germany's frustration over the treaty (appeasement policy was still a mistake of course). After WW2 Churchill showed much sympathy as well despite his anti-German rhetoric before and during the war. He was one of the few Allied politicians who for example voiced moral concerns over the expulsion of Germans from Eastern Europe. And he was probably the most prominent supporter of an integration of Germany into Europe's post-war order. British and Canadian soldiers were also highly respected in post-war Germany. Not to forget that Britain supported the highly popular Berlin air lift in 1948/9. Now Thatcher really hated Germany and many British conservatives probably still do (especially during Brexit), but I'm sure the relations can get better again. I feel like that on a non-political cultural level there is much admiration between our two countries. So God save the Queen, I guess ☕❤🍺

I'm an American, yet I know the lyrics to the chorus by heart. This is one of my favorite British patriotic anthems, not to mention that it's actually pretty easy to remember for Americans like me. If you can hum the instrumental version that we play for graduations over here, you can learn the lyrics (especially to the chorus) pretty easily :) Given the timing of my comment, I think I should pay my respects to Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. She was truly one of the greatest leaders our world has known. Even though Americans like myself reside outside of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms, at least some of us do feel a connection to the Royal Family; it can be hard not to feel a connection after you notice how much coverage the American media affords them.

It’s finally here! one of my favourite British patriotic songs!
I'm an American, yet I know the lyrics to the chorus by heart. This is one of my favorite British patriotic anthems, not to mention that it's actually pretty easy to remember for Americans like me. If you can hum the instrumental version that we play for graduations over here, you can learn the lyrics (especially to the chorus) pretty easily :)
Given the timing of my comment, I think I should pay my respects to Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. She was truly one of the greatest leaders our world has known. Even though Americans like myself reside outside of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms, at least some of us do feel a connection to the Royal Family; it can be hard not to feel a connection after you notice how much coverage the American media affords them.
He is the King of the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and New Zealand. The first Americans were loyal to the Monarchy and names Jamestown after the king.

@@FamilyGuyNetwork Where's your proof, looking it up finds that the closest thing it was was to be 'proposed' to be the English national anthem but never happened. Literally listen to the words, its about the British Empire, you can't say when they mention the 'Empire' they mean England come on.
Not surprised since its a BUF jogger

Prosperity is not measured by the number of peoples or lands subjugated, but by the liberty given to every person in her domains and the dignity they can live their lives. I hope that all nations can learn this.
Congrats to her Majesty! God safe the Queen, from your frenemies, the U.S.A!
Britain certainly is the nation of Hope and Glory and without any doubt in my mind this piece of Elgar's wonderful music is fitting to be the new NATIONAL ANTHEM of BRITAIN. Long Live Britain... monarchy is an archaic relic in a withered corpus.

When the best part of the song comes up I either think about:
