    I'm an oil painter, I love your style. This particular painting may have finally helped me over my painter's block. There is a bridge I go over every day with the grasses and water, and I want to paint it. I knew I could start it, but wasn't sure about the middle and foreground. Now with your tutorial I think I can go for it❣😁

    Great painter and the best art teacher on TH-cam! I do have one small suggestion. That repeating musical phrase starts to drive me crazy after about 5 minutes! LOL I have to turn off the sound and I do hate missing your fantastic comments. Maybe it doesn't bother most people I don't know. Great work thanks. Most of our grass in Scotland is green. If I were painting green grass I know the technique would be the same, but what paints would I use to get my greens?

    • @GebahiArtworks
      @GebahiArtworks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question! You may want to vary those greens by using ultramarine blue and cad yellow, also cerulean blue and yellow, and fro strong greens, use pthalo blue and yellow! You really don’t need to buy tubes of greens, it’s better to mix them. It all depends if it’s a warm green or cool green but the colors I listed above will cover both!

    I cannot figure out grass with my fan brush, no matter how many videos I watch. All I have is a Royal and langnickel black taklon. The bristles of my fan brush just group together in like 6 spikes and have no bush to it. Should I get a different brush or can I make mine work if I actually get technique right. With my fan brush it usually just leaves a normal straight line instead of anything bushy

    • @GebahiArtworks
      @GebahiArtworks  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I understand, sometimes synthetic fan brushes bristles will clump together when too wet, you almost have to to use it kinda dry brush style! Or better yet, I use a natural bristle fan brush. They tend to clump less.

    Thank you. I’m here for the grass today. Having a difficult time with your method for creating clouds. I really want to master it. I’m used to doing background then white on top or lighter color for clouds. Yours is opposite. Please, what color blue for the water here and there? In the Everglade looking paintings with the colorful skies it’s so brilliant blue. I didn’t hear you say. Thanks again.

    • @GebahiArtworks
      @GebahiArtworks  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi, the colors I mainly use for my skies is ultramarine blue with a little burnt umber or burnt sienna and titanium white! I paint the clouds separately most of the time especially if it’s going to be a lighter color than the surrounding sky color. For example, if I painted the sky a blue-ish color and wanted a warm yellow cloud, if I did the whole sky first and added the cloud on top of that then it would turn a little greenish and I would have to put more layers to get to the color I wanted. But if I did them separately then I would get more if the pure color! It’s a bit more involved than that but it’s the basic theory . But sometimes I do paint the entire sky and will add pink clouds on top, that works. Remember that acrylics doesn’t cover like oil paints do!. The reason I add burnt umber to the blue sky is because it will mute the blue color, and anything bright places next to it or on top of it will stand out more dramatically. Hope my explanation wasn’t too confusing!

      No, I just sand it down lightly with 180 grit sandpaper!

    Sometimes I feel like I am wasting my time when I prime my canvases! There are times when they are rough and I prime and sand them!

    • @GebahiArtworks

      Just sand them lightly and you’ll see a difference!

    Would be helpful if you showed a clean palette as you mix your colors - Like how much of each color to use, etc. Otherwise, I'm wasting paint. Also, the music is distracting.
