As a former retail worker, we literally hate when people open products. Thank you so much for not doing that! The problem is the opened products are seen as "used" and we are haggled by customers to lower their price (because they swear to us it's used! Even though we can prove it's not a return!!) or they just never get sold.
I've been to a store before to buy beyblades, found one opened that someone crudely taped back close with scotch tape with all the pieces randomly thrown back in, there were only 2 of the item left the second was luckily unopened and I was getting one for my friend as well, and the cashier asked me if I opened it. This wasn't even a blind box toy, these beyblades were already on sale. Don't know why someone opened it then taped it back together
I was in target and these tweens were opening blind bag items in the toy aisle and their parent was standing nearby just browsing her phone. I was like “Um, you really aren’t supposed to be doing that?” They ran off into another aisle but then I saw them doing it again.
Is there something to do in that situation? I don’t really want to confront someone who might have a parent who is nuts, but also I don’t want to search all over the store looking for an employee when I just want to get what I need and get out.
It's honestly crazy people do that in the first place, I thought it was common sense to not open things at the store, not until you've paid for it at least. Like you don't drink a soda you got till the transaction went through, you open the toy in the car, that makes sense to me at least. It sucks you guys have to even deal with that, honestly ridiculous.
@@hookedonfandom honestly even employees aren't allowed to say anything about it or we get reprimanded by our manager. Best bet is to get a manager to care, but their bottom line is to keep the customers happy so most of the time they just allow it to happen in *hopes* they actually buy it anyways.. it's absolutely screwed up.
My mom opens stuff all the time at Walmart just to look at it, I don't understand. There's a picture of it on the box 100 percent of the time
Always buy your playline dolls a few months after they release! Demand is typically lower after the initial launch, so places tend to cut prices to move stock and make room for the next wave. Doesn't apply everywhere, but it's a good rule of thumb.
So true, take cheer line Rainbow High for example, they came out for 25 and now most of them are down to 13-20

Fr! I got lone star a couple day ago for 23USD, and virtuelle for 13USD (obviously a bit later than just after, but you’d be amazed at how much you can save if you wait a bit!) most of the other remix girls were there and at the same price point as well!

Skatepark QT does bend at the knee. She has what is called "bend and snap" legs which are made of a rubber like material

Isn't that what Barbie's legs used to be made of? I remember her legs used to feel like one solid piece of rubber, but you could "snap" them at the knee as if they had a joint. They would kinda click into place.

I really like the bodies of the OMG dolls, but the faces make me want to repaint them. There’s a few channels out there that have done LOL/OMG repaints and they always look really interesting.

I have one, and it's Lev, and he started my like of dolls, but compared to my Rainbow High obsession, even the 2 Hairdoorables I have, he just doesn't fit in with the house because he's the oldest (as a millennial that's their deal, they're not in high school) and yet he's got these HUGE childlike eyes.

As an OMG collector, personally I miss the non-windowed boxes because the inside layer of the box used to be their bedroom and you could use it for display or a desk organizer or whatever. Also RIP the actual plastic shoe and hat boxes they used to have.
Same they were cuter in my opinion and i loved dressing up the doll i also loved collecting the hat and shoe boxes to stack on top of each other the plus side is at least i wont have to struggle to store the boxes
I used to not really care at all for the LOL art style, but somehow, once I saw the tweens dolls, I was able to get past my biggest hurdle with the faces. I just think the proportions of the tweens with the faces looks really good, just as you pointed out at the end with how they don't really work well with most of the OMGs. Thankfully, they are showing signs of being more experimental with their faces in the future!
I can see that the tween dolls that Negative showed were definitely the most appealing in my opinion, not quite the weird babies but not quite the weirdly proportioned teens/adults????

Tweens are my favorite from the entire LOL franchise! As he said, the cute faces don't match the adult bodies, but they work on a tween. Proportion wise they work the best!
The tweens are so adorable, My favorites are Cherry BB and Series 2 girls 💙
About the omgs, their coming out with a new line that has more sassier face ups and they're sooo pretty!
The tweens proportions remind a lot of the Bratz Kids, which were my favourite as a kid. For all that the LOL style looks very different, the way that theyve made the dolls and how their faces look balanced against their 3 body sizes is the same for both franchises, and it's less exaggerated on the middle ones bc theres no massive make up like on the adults or oversized eyes and heads (and arms and legs) like on the babies
i think i've just gotten used to the lol omg face being so different from the bodies. MGA definitely excels in clothing design while mattel excelled in characterization i feel. monster high fashions could be lack luster or miss the mark for me a fair bit, but bratz was always pretty on trend in my opinion. id die to see the MGA clothing detail focus from mattel for the MH reboot!

I never understood the controversy with the color change ones… the whole point was for them to wear the clothes that came with them and THEN dip them in the water to add layers to the clothing (in particular, the fishnet sleeves or tights. It could be since I dress emo I’m desensitized to those two, but I don’t see anything inherently sexual with them) the parents should do research on the toys
What's interesting that some of the LOL are based around and some are desgined to look similar to celebrites in real life. There is ones that are based of beyonce, prince, and the one the lady was going off about was based around Lady GaGa with one of her music videos.

I agree about the proportions and why the Tweens are personally my favorite to collect. The baby (blind spheres) are too juvenile/weird for my taste. Similarly to what you said, the OMGs faces don't match well with their bodies. But, the tweens captures their target age perfectly while still retaining the quality from the OMG dolls.
I love hearing someone’s new perspective on these! I’ve been collecting the omgs for about a year now and have 29 of them(and three tweens)! Some things that struck me in your video is:
First, the “JKs” aren’t new at all, their “LOLs”specifically the little sisters of the series one OMG girls dressed up in their older sisters clothes. I don’t believe they did very well and aren’t making anymore, and the tweens(I believe) are their replacement since they’re both mini fashion dolls.
Second, the reason majority of the “OMGs”
are in blind boxes is essentially because they come in their under clothes with their garment bags and hatboxes containing everything, you have to dress them like their little sisters. They recently moved to clear packaging and now the dolls are fully dressed, but they come with more fashion pieces, that’s why Skatepark Q.T had that skirt.
Lastly, these dolls bodies are inspired by Betty Boop which is why they have those big heads and small bodies, which I personally love.

I've only been collecting Lol dolls for about a year so currently I've only got 9 omgs 2 tots and 1 tween ^_^
I'm not in the mood with buying L.O.L Surprise, I'm more of a Monster High, Ever After High, and Bratz kind of girl. Good video tho! 😎👍

I’m not a fan of lol surprise/omg either but you gotta admit the amount of love, design, and quality that goes into these dolls is amazing and looks worth the money.
Tbh I prefer lol Omg given they at least take sorta responsibility for the bad quality

15:10 and 15:56, is amazingly, accidentally, savage! The lol dolls have always produced alot of packaging waste and recently they tried to reduce some of that waste by putting the surprises in recyclable tissue paper. Clearly it's not working and comes off as cheap instead 🤣
I really love when they include the footage of them going into the store and seeing how the stuff is displayed on the shelf.
My grandma once misunderstood a sale at target and I ended up getting a omg doll for $9 so it was fun
The issue with lol surprise dolls is that they're baby dolls that are dressed like adult women. Parents find it weird that they pee because it's hard to tell if they're babies/toddlers because they're painted wearing makeup and dress like 20 something insta baddies. There's not any other doll that's an adult human character that has a pee function because having a doll of a woman peeing is kinda weird. LOL surprise dolls walk an uncanny valley between representing a chibi adult character vs baby doll. It's off putting. They give me Toddlers in Tiara vibes. Unlike the criticism Bratz or the full sized OMG dolls face there's some valid reasons not to like the lol surprise dolls.

My sister collects LOL dolls. I really like their clothes, designs and bodies, but the heads really freak me you, especially the eyes.
you can use the glasses on other dolls, they fit on my rainbow high dolls really well, my Daphne Minton doll is currently wearing them and looking like the iconic queen she is.
This reminds me so much of my kpop photocard addiction. At least I learned how to bargain and sell overseas, which came in handy when providing my work services

Honestly I am interested in getting some L.O.L. Surprise OMG, but the thing is that I don't go to stores very often. The OMG dolls are bigger and more similar to a traditional fashion doll plus there isn't actually a surprise element, you know what you're getting.
They stopped that given the problem with factory errors and they finally listen to fans and made them able to be seen

amazon does sales on them often if you keep an eye on the ones you're interested in. I got the one I wanted for $14 instead of 30

As someone who watches a toy channel, the Year of the Tiger dolls only have two toys in the collection and what's on the packaging is what you get. One ball has the girl in it and another ball has the tiger in it and that's it.
I remember getting the old old lol where each ripper you take off there’s a little compartment that has one blind bag with the accessories and then you get to the last one which is just the doll and an extra accessory

At my Target they have LOL Queens which look pretty interesting! Really pretty packaging, I have no idea about the dolls besides the skin color range(?) seems wider than some other dolls 👸🏼👸🏾👸🏽
1) Your outfits in this are great, especially the one during the unboxing part! Also something about seeing the "around the world" doll on the globe just threw me back to that globetrotting season of Strawberry Shortcake haha
2) I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on the Max Steel show from 2013, as it's a Mattel show created by Nerd Corps and you've looked at other shows from both companies before (ie Storm Hawks, the 3D Monster High films). Three things I like about it that might appeal to you are
1) the show's expression game is on-point,
2) characters' fighting styles actually evolve throughout the show, and
3) the characters/their relationships. For a somewhat vague example, there's a reveal about one of the mysteries in the show that Max needs to take some time to process, and while he's able to sass about it to a villain in combat, it takes another few episodes before he's actually fully come to terms with the reveal. (Which, by the way, having a show on Disney XD end an episode with a main character admitting they're not emotionally okay still gives me cognitive dissonance). Plus, Dredd is iconic in the Season 3 films XD
If you are interested, the whole show is available on yt, although it can be a bit sporadic to find all the episodes (esp since the official channel recently unprivated a bunch of the foreign language dubs of episodes/"bonus episodes" (2 min shorts that can be p hit or miss) and the place is now super-chaotic)

I think the toddler things look dumb and wired, but I do really like the OMG dolls. I find their faces quite cute and I like how varied their fashions are, like you get dolls that are punk, prep, girly etc. unlike some lines where they all have more or less the same style (cough-rainbow high- cough cough) but I HATE the packaging. Not being able to see the doll is annoying, the over packaging with the accessories makes me feel guilty buying them new because it seems so wasteful. Also the branding seems kinda cringe, the abbreviations thing and all character “names” give me a bit of a ‘hello fellow kids’ vibe.
The year of the tiger ones aren't surprise ones, the orb shows you if you're getting the girl or the tiger on the outside. I work at a Claire's where we sell them and I had to learn that since kids would always get mad if they got one when they wanted the other 💀

Studio mucci isn’t very innocent when they claimed MGA stole from them, one of the head designers( I don’t recall her name unfortunately) reached out to them multiple times and explained that she would never steal especially from another black creative, and that the doll was in production years before that picture was taken. Studio Mucci then blocked the woman( I don’t think they explained why), she then commented that she was blocked, and she can’t talk to someone not willing to listen.
Studio Mucci then claimed that Lisa Frank stole their apartment idea, and turned it into a hotel. In my personal opinion the properties don’t look the same, and Lisa Frank has been throwing unicorns, and pastels on everything for decades, so Studio Mucci needs to calm down.
The president of MGA made the matter worse when I feel the designer had it under control, and he 100% doesn’t need access to the internet.
The omg dolls actually have knee articulation. You just need to warm them up by snapping it. It sais so in the instruction nobody reads which is confusing.
Edit: It's the same with the tweens I've got.
Rooted lashes or extra detail other than rainbow high are mostly designer, limited edition or collectors edition thats why they have painted features

I don't like the normal LOL dolls because I feel like its gambling for kids and they are messier with the surprises. The OMG dolls and the Tweens are impressive for what they are though. I happen to own 5 OMG dolls and 1 Tween. I only own one non color change lol doll because I really liked her OMG sister. My favorite OMG doll is Moonlight BB because of her goth style and black and midnight blue color scheme. Normally, I tend to favor Rainbow High and Monster High though.
Moonlight BB is so cool! Wish she had fishnet or lace tights TT I also have Sunshine BB and live both, but my favorites are the Tweens! I have 2 from series 1 and 3 from series 2, and I want to get the 4th one! Their best line in my opinion

I feel like bit about them having "weird proportions to limit play possibilities" was a bit biased since most dolls have exclusive body types and proportions especially Rainbow High where it didn't seem to be a problem... like at all? Every company does that to secure their sells i don't remember it being any different 10 years ago.

see, I dunno about the proprietary argument of their clothes/accessories, because the second I got my LOL OMG "Cool Lev",the like... 2nd boy, there's only 3 boys. Anyway, the second I unboxed him I put his hoodie on my Rainbow High River Kendall who also got his headphones and sunglasses, his jeans went to my Rainbow High Violet, and his shorts went to a Hairdorables doll. His shoes won't fit anyone else, but he's shared his clothes around and they've shared with him. My things (aside from the Hairdoorables) are MGA, but they tend to share with each other as well as fit Barbie clothes. But then again I don't have a "girl doll" of the LOL line, it's just Cool Lev and he might be made bigger.

I find it odd that I keep promising myself to get at least 1 OMG doll since they look great, but I ended up getting 2 Tweens dolls. I think it's because a couple OMG dolls that I want would always have 1 item that I don't like and I prefer to like every piece to have my money's worth. I really wanted Skatepark Q.T, but I'm not a fan of her skirt. With the Tweens dolls, I've been liking every piece it came with.
Personally my spherical blind box obsession is Mini Brands, but listening to you explain to your friend the intricacies and details about this brand is awesome 🤣 I feel that so hard, because when someone asks me about something I know probably too much about I just go off on this tangent and make people regret asking me about it 😂
But man, the amount of plastic wrapping on those puts the awful amount the Zuru Mini Brands balls to shame 😬 which isn't a good thing.

7:03 you can clearly see it's fake...you can see the marker not fully coloring and having blank spots. Same for the underwear and how its not fully painted to inside the joints
