    Just some small updates 🩷
    1. I realize that people can lose taste through trauma or sickness, it's just not a common thing. Thank you for sharing your stories!
    2. Some people are saying that I said flan wrong?? But I'm from the south and I've only heard it said the way I say it in the video. I tend to exaggerate my vowels. Unfortunate part of being southern ig.
    3. THANK YOU for giving this video so much LOVE!! More videos are coming soon!

im still not over the fact that sora straight up just died in the middle of the plot like my girl is not only a orphan, but she gets bullied and picked on by not only students but also adults??!! and then her crush straight up dies and then the grannie had issues which lead her to leave an important competition like GIVE HER A BREAK OH MY GOD 😭

@@gracekim25You absolutely should! It's basically this, but the love triangle is actually a reverse harem and it's set in an elite patisserie high school. Also there are little fairy sidekicks. I like the manga better than the anime, though. They start with the same vibe, but the anime kind of just stays childish while the manga seems to mature a bit as the story goes on. I think that's mostly to do with how the fairies are voiced in the anime.

28:57 okay but losing your sense of taste and/or smell could actually happen in real life when a person experience a traumatic moment. It's a PTSD response so Najika being in so much shock after Sora's death and blaming her own skill, her *cooking* ability, so much it can rewired her brain to trigger a traumatic response to protect herself: a.k.a losing her sense of taste
Tho of course in real life you need extreme stress to trigger this sort of response 😥

Can confirm. I was in a car accident a few years back. I was lucky to have gotten out with effectively no injuries, though my car was completely totalled. It took a good four or five days before I was able to taste anything after that. Which really sucked, because it happened a couple days before Christmas. Had one of my favorite dishes, too. Might as well have been eating ash.

Kitchen Princess was the Shoujo manga that defined my Shoujo journey into my teen years (along with my tastes in fictional romances) so to see someone talk about the series after so long hit me with nostalgia hard. It was such a cute and surprisingly well written story (touching on such matters like eating disorders and sensory disassociation due to trauma) . The element that drew me into the manga was the mystery of the story. Favorite aspects were Akane and Seiya's character arcs as well as the slow burn romance between Najika and her love interests. The food illustrations and bonus recipes were the icing on the cake. So yes, I think of KP as a 2000s Shoujo classic and a manga I return to as a comfort series I can return to (even with the whole Sora dying thing midway through).

I have ABSOLUTELY experienced loosing my sense of taste in extreme distress. It’s more like everything tastes dull or like soot. Even sweets taste way too sweet to taste good in an overwhelming sense. Probably not exactly what they were getting at but I definitely understand.

I loved stumbling upon this video! I read kitchen princess a few years ago and didn't know how popular it actually was! I love cute and slightly too dramatic shojo, so please more videos like this!

Oh my gosh, I forgot that drama in this manga is absolutely insane my jaw literally dropped when I read Sora gets hit by the truck, still a fantastic manga tho ❤

Daichi was always more interesting to me than Sora. The main leads are always boring compared to the darker, childish obnoxious second lead. (As long as they’re not abusive!) which is why kyo (furuba) will forever be my guy.

KITCHEN PRINCESS IN 2024 YESSS I rlly enjoyed the cute cooking with absolute crazy plot lines such a fun treat. I actually really love seiya and akane together even when they r rushed haha. In my head they had a slow burn long distance pining for years before they got together😭

My ass read Kitchen Princess from the local library as a kid and went: yup that's it, we're becoming a weeaboo. After that I read so many random shojo manga the library had until I found more "normal" series like Hellsing and Death Note. I could go on and on about all the little mangas I read before those two lol

I said, “I’m sorry, WHAT!?” when you said Sora died. Not injured, not in a coma, PERMANENTLY *DIED*. INSANE!

Only a little bit into the video kind of reminds me of Utena, orphan the ruined dress at a party and everyone mysteriously having a mysterious silver spoon like the rose crest

    • @heartcatchprecure
      @heartcatchprecure หลายเดือนก่อน

same here! it’s basically what nanami does to anthy in that one episode and its honestly trippy to remember how normal shoujo utena started out before it became even more of a Surrealist Art Piece

My mom used to read this to me in bed every night. The car accident traumatized me and I think about it all the time 😭 I still have photocopies of the recipes since I used to cook them as a kid! I think its why I only really like to make sweets and don’t really like cooking other food 😂 I vividly remember making that rainbow jelly.

I remember this! You’ve just brought back a memory buried soooo damn deep. Didn’t the author also include recipes in the chapters?! I used to want to try them so much. I was always confused why they tried to convince me it was a mystery to who the guy was. Like girl, they have different hair colours. You don’t remember that?!
