The fact that they put pockets in a skirt for a doll but not pockets in a skirt for people is a crime
i have the Daphne Minton doll and she has pockets in her pants as well, its really cool
yeah it's pretty insane, most of the dolls if they have pockets, an 11" doll, the pockets work. The belts work. The hoodie strings pull. The buckles sometimes work. It's insane.
Just about every article of clothing needs pockets. Shoes are debatable. Socks, no.

The first one reminds me of when i was like 6 and had a sleepover and i hid all my fav dolls the other girls found them and started to play with them and i was super angry

When you realize this doll was the mannequin in the Radiant Week project Amaya worked with Daphne on--the accessories being inverted from Daphne's necklace being a ring to the chain on her skirt being a necklace.
They really thought out their "perspective" theme on this--MGA's design team included.
The skirt looks like she made it out of the old woven rug that my grandparents used own in the 80s.
She probably did.
I have this doll so here's a quick tip: she actually has a crop tank top under her hoodie, honestly she looks so much more stylish and less tacky if you just take the hoodie off imo. I know you mentioned the hoodie/jacket combo being strange but never took off her hoodie, so just wanted to let you know she's got a shirt underneath.
Also yes she was released right before the holiday shopping season, so you were right about her being a Christmas gift thing.

This was fun! I agree about the size. It's fun on the one hand because you can add a lot of detail that would get lost on a smaller doll, but on the other hand they are freakin' huge. They take up so much space. Ye-Loli dolls also come in the 60cm (24 inch) size and even though I love them they're just so big. I still have an old Monster High jumbo doll too. It's great when there's a chance to display them, but otherwise storage is a bit of a nightmare.
That jumbo doll, is it Gooliope Jellington? I still have that one from when I was younger and played with it. *Sigh* The old MH dolls were better…

It's been confirmed that they're going to release another big Rainbow High doll (the subreddit is good for keeping track of releases) so hopefully they will make more if they do well. Also, a jean jacket over a hoodie is actually normal, I don't think they're that popular but it's definitely a thing to wear a jean jacket over a hoodie.
Loved the run to the store entrance, it was like straight out of a cartoon! 😂

My next "Autism special interest" is leaning towards sewing and fashion design... And as such I'm really tempted to create a skirt with a similar aesthetic style as the jacket.
The excess hair is the doll "shedding," and that is normal for dolls. The first time the doll leaves the box, it will shed a lot because of all the hair that wasn't rooted, but it should stop after a few times of brushing it's hair.
Was going to comment this also. It is frustrating when doll hair is styled curly though because it’s so hard to get all the shedding out without ruining the style.
That Amaya doll be givin me the creeps. Like imagine waking up at 3 am for some reason and seeing that doll moving from one side of the room to the next or like levitating on top of you're head when you wake up like some kind of horror movie.
Understandable with its facial expressions and big eyes I can see how someone can be creeped by it I’d rather buy the normal sized ones XD

Yes, there is rainbow thread. My grandma has a tailoring materials store and they do sell it. It costs the same a regular thread btw.
Fun story my mom got a doll for her like 5th or 6th birthday and one of her aunts got her a giant doll. Like it was 4 ft TALL (it was legit bigger than her)! She was so terrified of it that when no one was looking, she took it to the bathroom and destroyed it with a pair of safety scissors.

Amaya is pretty and the detail is impressive, but concerning large creepy dolls, nothing beats the Good Guys dolls from the Chucky films. Those dolls can pretend to be your friend, hold a weapon, and potentially kill you in your sleep.

1. Use nail clippers on the plastic tags, they grab the ends easily and won't damage the fabrics like yanking on them can! 😂

About using a funcional doll purse as a coin bag: for many years i used one that came with one the Pyjama Party/Slumber Party of Bratz (i dont remember the exact name of the line they wore pijamas, and if anybody is curious it was the one that came with Jade), was small but useful lol

You can get wool that's rainbow coloured, so thread may also be available. You might be able to get some and machine embroider some details on a thrift denim jacket. If you're serious about wanting one.

The skirt, chain, and purse are all Chanel copies. The shoes are definitely Chanel-inspired, but I don't know if they're direct copies. Chanel does a lot of pearls, strangely colored grandma tweed/houndstooth, and black toe caps on beige/white shoes. The chain is a belt irl, I don't know if it was ever in necklace form but Chanel makes a ton of seasonal shit so who knows. The purse is a take on the Boy bag.
Rainbow High dolls' fashion is almost a copy of real-life fashion brands. If I'm not mistaken, this doll's outfit was inspired by Chanel (...and that's why some some items are ugly and/or granny-like).
I'm so glad someone else saw the Chanel inspo. The skirt and "RAINBOW" chain are both direct Chanel copies. The fabric of the skirt is unfortunately accurate - Chanel is the originator of grandma tweed.
