    🔮 More about the series:
    In this series I talk about various methods and tips of improving your chances of getting your first job in UX design. Yes, it is difficult, but you'd be surprised how many people make the most basic mistakes over and over and over, and expect recruiters to hire them. I share my trusted tips, techniques and know-how on how to avoid those mistakes, present yourself in the best possible way and start getting interview invites from businesses - and yes, eventually also THE JOB :-) So far with my help a couple hundred people have gotten their first UX job, so I believe this is working :-)

    Michał could you please advise on the "good" amount of case studies in a portfolio? I heard that it's not great if you have too many of them. I was wondering how many can I have to not go overboard?
    Also, do you think it's a good idea to mix case studies like: some research only+mobile app (end2end design process)+web design+maybe analysis of existing app and ideas on how to improve it with some examples of UI redesign?
    On one hand, I think as a Designer you want to be creative and stand out, show your way of thinking and some design skills so why limit yourself but... on there other hand maybe there is some "golden standard" for a portfolio (in ex. only end2end design processes) one should follow to seem more pro?

      Sorry I just watched the whole video and found answers there :)

    • @MalewiczHype
      @MalewiczHype  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The golden standard is to have things that are most commonly looked for (apps and websites) and then something else to highlight that you're not stuck in the app/website mindset - but it's up to you how you do it exactly :) That's the beauty of it - that portfolios can be very different, some can be purely research (but always make a nice visual cover for it anyway) and some can be just a grid of UI shots :)

      I wouldn't go with an ebook first, but I can say honestly (and not as an ad) that my courses (both bundles, but especially mobile app ui 1 and creating case studies from UI projects) have already helped a lot of people get the job - to many they filled the gaps necessary to go from "so so" to "good".
      But you can also practice following some UI tutorials on TH-cam - just growing your skills :)

      To be brutally honest, if you finish just the first segment of the google course and do some extra UI work (my courses for example) chances are you'll get a job in UX/UI quite fast as it's more than enough to just get the foundations from Google.
      If you have more time or want to become a researcher definitely finish 1-4 of Google, and you can stop there, as segment 5 is not that great and 6+7 are just repeating 1-5.

    Is it possible for me to become a UX designer without the UI part? I'm not really interested in designing interfaces, I'd rather work in research. What do you think?

    • @MalewiczHype
      @MalewiczHype  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a role called UX Researcher, then you're mostly doing research and you're not a designer / don't need any design skills for that.
      It's a bit toughter to get into because most companies prefer those who can do both design and research, but I know researchers that don't do any design and they're doing very well.

      Hey! I'd say yes, but if you want to design UI then better switch to my TH-cam tutorials and possibly my courses on that and use Google Course for the UX principles (segments 1-4) - age doesn't matter when you're good - and you get good with practice :)

    • @MalewiczHype

      You can start my courses at the same time and actually skip part 5 of the Google UX Course as it's also about UI but it's much lower quality than mine. Parts 1-4 are quite good though, and they don't interfere with UI learning - it's even better to get more practice in early :)

      If you're a graphics designer it will be easier for you to get into UI design for sure - a lot of skills overlap. My courses are done in a way where I only use simple language (english, but simple, no industry diffuclt words) to explain it as simply as possible :)

    The google course was to me a very good introductory course. I had no idea what ux ui was... I just wanted a career change so I thought it could be good for me since I like web design...
    I finished the course and I realized ux is not for me, I am more interested in creating my own layouts and products, so after I finished it I started learning coding and I still use figma to design my own stuff, so I am glad I did it. I am still looking forward to learn more about design, which most developers don't care about...

      Hi Sofia, so you're more of a UI / Front-end developer , that's also a really great combination with tons of potential - and from what I've noticed it's not as hostile as some hardcore UX people can get on social media - ui / developers are 99% very nice and welcoming - so good choice!
      Some developers do care about design, we started hiring developers at our design agency years ago by teaching them design and it allowed us to really grow and change the quality of the stuff we do :)
