Thank you Chris for sharing your stories of overcoming the traumatic childhood. Your background is very similar to Harvard nutritional psychiatrist Christopher Palmer, who was also homeless with his mentally ill mother. He’s on several videos and podcasts

We must resist them at any cost. We know they don't want people to be healthy and do KETO diets. They are just using the environment as an excuse. I saw a video about celebrities using their private jets 170 days out of the year. They don't care about that. China gets to build more and more coal plants, they don't about that. It would take even more energy to farm bugs, but they won't tell you about that. Enough is enough!

I respect Plantchomper's channels for his detail and research I use his channel to teach my homeschool family with his info ( our nutrition curriculum and his videos are family-oriented ) and book reference!
After watching this podcast, I love ❤Plantchomper and my respect is out the roof! I too had an interesting life in the beginning and there is no way to get around the shame and embarrassment. But to see the determination and values listening to this man's stories puts him up to so many notches in my book…. I know from experience we can change our outcome.
Thank you again for what you do and I am a new fan of this channel too due to Plantchomper.

Chris like Simon is a straight shooter. What a life story Chris has experienced. Very happy for his success. Great picture of his family. I’m sure a lot of his motivation to do the right thing health wise, environmental wise and steward ship of animals, stems from a deep desire to make our earth a better place for his kids and grandkids and future generations. As a biologist, I also am pleased that he and Simon have a passion and appreciation for great science and the scientists that run well designed studies. Great episode! Thanks Simon

49:20 "Eat simple foods, it's the best way to solve your brain's craving for all these rich foods"
THIS IS THE BEST ADVICE THERE CAN BE
I moved to whole foods to get rid of my 30+ kg of overweight. For years I was able to eat every 1-2 hours. I could almost constantly snack. Moving to simple foods (whole foods) combined with time restricted feeding caused gigantic change in 2-3 months. Now I can stay without meal for 20 hours. I do not crave sweet or fatty foods. I have lost 20 kg in 7 months while feeling no hunger. I also got rid of headaches I often had in the mornings. I had no idea they were caused by my diet.

Even though this interview deviated a bit from the topics that generally interest me in the exceptional @theproof podcast series (lifestyle optimization and nutrition) I can honestly say that I have found this particular episode to be one of the best podcasts I have ever listened to (anywhere). Chris is a bright and supremely talented story teller and a charmingly self-deprecating renaissance man. The sort of polymath I have always strived to be (miserably failing so far…) and should be an inspiration for people of any age especially for his huge capacity to continuously learn and if needed change focus and goals. If longevity comes from having a strong purpose you have it dialled in Chris & will be around for a long time ;) Love your youtube channel too @PlantChompers, keep up the great work!

@@Viva-LongevityHi Chris, no need to have fretted, as you never strayed from nutrition in the slightest. You covered off two forms of nutrition.
      1. Nutrition to feed the body
      2. Nutrition to feed the soul.
What I find remarkable about your Chris is your level of humbleness. It is clear to see that often your stray outside your comfort zone (both in this interview and on Plant Chompers) e.g. your body language such as when you touch your glasses. Yet you carry on because due to altruistic reasons.
Thanks for all you do to try to make the world a better place. 👍 Regards Glenn

Fantastic interview! What an inspiring, interesting life Chris has led. I'm so thankful he has landed on nutrition as his passion or I likely would not have heard his story. Thank you; I enjoyed the whole thing!

one of the best talks i've seen on these topics. i love how Simon is creating a less staged agenda for Chris whose videos, although brilliant, are sometimes a bit too constrained. i love the looser conversation. this is just great work!

Thank you! This episode was awesome, I started earlier this year trying to get all my ducks in a row with health and fitness after covid, and also after my dad was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes earlier this year. I noticed the TH-cam algorithm pushed me towards the keto / carnivore they seemed to pop up whenever I would search a topic, but I ended up finding gils channel thank God which lead me to Plant Chompers, and your channel Simon, and my eyes have really been opened, being raised in Wisconsin the dairy state, meat is like a commandment almost. But switching to a plant based mediterranean diet and slowly kind of testing the waters of vegan, those being so out of the norm you guys have really been insightful and have given me allot of information and hope to better my family's and my own health appreciate everything you guys do. Keep the episodes coming!!!!!

One of the best podcast episodes, I’ve ever heard. Chris’ story is captivating and heartfelt. I teared up throughout. New to Simon’s podcast and now Chris’ Plant Chomper, I am an instant fan. Thank you both for this fantastic interview.

I've been following Plant Chompers for a while. First time I've seen Simon Hill. Though it was interesting to hear about Chris's background, it's what he brings to the table in his videos that is so great. He does excellent work.

very insightful. Ive been a fan of Chris and plant chompers for about 2-3 months now, and its great to get the inside scoop.
Funny enough most of what I have thought about plant based diets are intuitively being proven correct, and productions like Plant Chompers are part of that.

This was a superb interview. Like pretty much everyone hunting for a "better expert," I stumbled upon Chris via TH-cam binging and I just knew I'd hit something special with him. Thanks for this deep-dive - it was fascinating as always.

My son's friend went from dropout destined for jail to being an engineer.
He put it down to the private boarding school he went to that made him sit at a desk for 2 hours each night. The school did not care what he did, but he had to stay at the desk for the 2 hours. He said that is why he began to study and focus.
His mother was a single mum who knew she could not give the guidance he needed. He needed strong male guidance. So she worked her butt off and sacrificed to give her son and the guidance and the learning environment he needed.
There has to be a lesson in that somewhere .... sitting at a desk for 4 hours made me think of that.
... I also think being a mother is the most important role in any society, it is also the least valued in the 'west'.

Love hearing the origin story of Mr. Chomper. Dealing with the horrible trauma the way he did is inspiring. In the psych literature it's not called PTSD which tends to refer to a single event but C-PTSD (complex-PTSD).
