  • I changed the fuel filter on my 2005 Cadillac STS in under 20 minutes. My car had a slight hesitation but still had power, after the filter change she is smooth as ever. The Cadillac SRX is pretty much the same steps.

    This goes down as some of the best youtube instructional content I have ever seen. excellent job on that and thanks for the info. I hope that the fuel pump is my issue. I have a hesitation from go at green light. Recently replaced purge valve , alternator, plugs and coils. I do also have bad motor mounts and i hope that isnt shaking loose everything that could go wrong.

    I like the way your video is made. I consider myself an expert diy'er, I came to this channel just to find out where the filter was located. I could find it by looking myself, but in planning to work on the car and buying all the parts I just wanted to see what I'm in for. I think the way you go through each step is very concise. Of course you're giving me more information that I personally need, but I do see where if someone else was less experienced your advice would help them.

    Great video. I'm not sure if I'm going to attempt to do my own as just regular maintenance. I'm at 97k. Rock auto parts is a great source for factory filters/parts. Can you please show exactly how you cleaned the throttle body. That is one I think I'm going to try myself. No problems just keeping it well maintained. Also have you had any problems/issues other than the codes you outlined and how did you fix them? Great job!

    Great video! I have a 2005 STS V8. Getting error code P0446. I can't seem to find any vacuum leaks. I have replaced EVAP solenoid, air filter, gas cap, and one shady vacuum hose behind the back of the valve cover. I sometimes get a hesitation when making a right turn with sudden accelration. I let off the gas and reaccelerate with no problem. I am looking to replace the fuel filter. I was wondering what you thought. Should I be looking at the charcoal canister or valve replacement? Pre Cat sensors are faily new. Thanks!

    well, I have 2007 CTS. The difference here is, the removal tool will not fit between the filter and the fuel line on 5/16 side. I had seen several notes related to having had to grind the tool down to size, but I just eyeballed it (about 1/4 to be removed) and took a hack saw to it (probably about half the time as grinding, and lots easier). Too, there is a retainer that holds the filter in place on the 2007, with one 10mm screw that holds the retainer to the body. Getting the old filter out of this retainer and new one in is really more than a thought but just don't baby it and it will go both ways. I used channel locks to help start the removal. Put little oil on new one to help get it started. Took a bit both ways but it will go.

    Good video, I just watched one on changing the cabin air filter, gas station wanted 115 to change it, I don't begrudge anyone a living but to change cabin air filters it's a rip off! 17.00 bucks for filter and about 15 mins. Fuel filter looks a little more diff and I don't I like getting under a car! Thanks.

    Great video. Really helpful. Except the disconnect tool in your link is not the same one you’re using. You linked an ARES and you’re using an OEM.
    I got an OEM from AutoZone but it was different. The one I got goes as small 3/8” and it won’t work. I actually snapped it in half trying to force it. I’ll go buy a different one tomorrow. I believe the size you’re using that worked is 5/16”

    Hey man. My high pressure fuel pump is making a clicking noise for months now and was wondering if u know about that similar issue. It’s a 3.6 though. It’s on the driver side behind the engine near the fire wall and rapidly clicks when I rev and clicks normal when I idle it. Going to replace the fuel filter and hoping there’s less pressure, stress and stop the over heating of the HPFP. Would you happen to know anything about that or think that sounds like a good idea. Doing this this weekend.

    • @oxmanagain
      @oxmanagain  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a new one for me. I've never heard any clicking noise or anything like that from my fuel pump. Are you sure that's the fuel pump? I thought the fuel pump was in the fuel tank?

    Just purchase a 2005 STS 86000 miles on it service vehicle soon light is on. Kind of rough when it starts but rides well once warmed up and has pick up on the highway. Decided to check oil found out it was 3 quarts low which is unusual. Light went off but came back on still a little rough but not as bad from a cold start. Going to give it a complete oil change and plugs to see if warning light stays off an engine Mellows out. Previous owner said he service the car regularly but with three quarts low I'm suspicious. What do you think?

    • @oxmanagain
      @oxmanagain  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice car, first off. I agree with you about a little suspicious but you never know. I would pour in a fuel system cleaning bottle to just see if that smooths out the engine, it did for me. Then I would clean the throttle body. I made a video on that on the STS. th-cam.com/video/mTiAYGHEeHs/w-d-xo.html
      Let me know the outcome. Good buy, enjoy your ride.

      I would use a pour in fuel treatment and also clean your throttle body. Here is a link to the video where I show you how to clean the throttle body. th-cam.com/video/mTiAYGHEeHs/w-d-xo.html

    Would this be the same exact process for a 2005 Cadillac CTS 2.8L ?

    • @oxmanagain
      @oxmanagain  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, they use the same fuel filter from the research I did.
