    I happen to own a 2008 STS and I changed all six spark plugs this past fall and did not have to remove anything except the plastic motor cover held on by the oil fill cap as you noted. Glad you caught that you can get all coils and plugs out without removing the air intake... Good Show!

    I took all my coils and plugs out. The only thing I removed was hose on the passenger side that sits over #3 coil. You can get them all changed without removing the intake plenum.

    Thank you. Good video. I'm sure happy I don't have to remove the intake lol I have a 2009 STS 3.6 and it looks like it has a bit more room than yours.

    My 08 sts has got 110k miles on it. I bought the car with at about 88k. I've been thinking about changing the coils and plugs just for preventative maintenance, no misfires or check engine lights. Idk when's the last time the previous owner had them done, if ever. I know he took the car to the dealer for most of the work done on it.
    It's really great to see the intake manifold doesn't have to come off, that would have really pissed me off lol. Thanks for the video, definitely informative.
    I liked that one guy down below that went 'you didn't change anything, you just disconnected a plug'. That jerkoff probably doesn't know how to work on cars and wouldn't be able to figure out even if you did do step by step instructions haha.

      I was definitely relieved when I realized it could be done with the intake in place. I've seen other videos where they removed it on different years. Could be they could have done it the same way I did if they thought about it first!

      Dirty Dave's Garage By chance, do you have any insight into the driver's side vents only blowing cold air with the heat on? I've done a bit of research, not much but I came up with some sort of actuator or motor near the steering column is stuck and won't turn the vent doors to allow heat to come. Run into this problem before?

      Haven't had this happen yet. If I find any info about this other than what you have, I will try and pass it along for you.

    Just an FYI, do not put dielectric grease on the actual connections, big no no, it’s meant for dispersing water. Dielectric grease is not a good conductor. Research on it. Trust me I put some on my cam sensor inside on connections and it didn’t last long before it shorted out and had to replace another sensor for $100. Watched a video and learned it’s not a conductor and is meant to only put around the seals on water proof connectors or around the outside of the tip of coil pack boot.

      Mine is running great since I swapped out the coils/plugs! I was really worried it was the tranny going the way it was acting.

      having this same problem right now. thanks for the video. I also thought it was the transmission because that punch sure feels like that's what it was. I ran a check with my obd2 tool and saw that cylinder 4 is misfiring. Found your video after search for cadillac misfires... wen out and bought all the stuff tonight and I'll be working on it in the morning. Thanks! fingers crossed!!

    Have you had or heard about a short in passenger side headlight. Mine won't come on, but when I hit my alarm it flashes. Plus brights work. And qhen I hit blinker it comes on. It's screwy for sure

    I know this video is a few years old but you got to be really careful buying those cheap coils online. I've done that before and found out they were no good they didn't last very long or they were just bad right out of the box. I know it's expensive but sometimes it's worth just spending the money and getting the actual factory coils

    I’m a novice too, I wish you showed how to do the plugs, but this was very helpful !!!
    Thank you for the time.
    If anyone knows of another video that does show the process of changing the coils plugs and wires to a Cadillac STS, please post it here.
    Or any tips that would help.
    Thanks !!!
    :-)

      If I get a chance, I'll update the video to show that. Got a few cars in the garage I'm working on right now, so it might be a while. Removing a spark plug is pretty easy, just follow my instructions, then pull off the coil, and use a spark plug socket to remove the old one, and put the new one in.

      Dirty Dave's Garage thank you for the reply !!!
      I got it, but now a year later I'm still facing the same problem, but I have oil on the spark plugs.
      Hopefully it's not something too crazy, but thanks again for the video !!!
      :-)

    Once you've changed sparks plug and coils no check engine light on, but the car jerks when reversing and making a small ticking noise after driven a good period of time, what could be the problem? Please help me

      Dirty Dave's Garage my 05 sts has that jerking feeling when it's idling, never while I'm driving. Could this be the reason?

    • @eduardogarcia5137
      @eduardogarcia5137 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Courtney Gray I’ve been doing research, the three main possible issues that could be causing the “jerking” is bad plugs, coils, or there is a vacuum leak (which means the intake manifold gasket is worn) something like that.

  • @dylconnaway9976

    You didn't actually film yourself replacing anything- just unplugging the coils. You need to rename the video "unplugging coils and almost removing intake."

    • @dirtydavesgarage8251
      @dirtydavesgarage8251  7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      The hardest part of the job was getting to the coils. I thought it was pretty obvious what to do next once you can get to everything....
