They are cute, but at the same time they are still wild animals and take a great deal of knowledge and time to care for them properly. Jamil is one of the very few who has been successful and there is no doubt how much dedication he has to making sure his troop is happy and healthy.
Very well said. Normally, these animals just are not pets. And it takes an incredibly special, patient, caring person with real compassion and love in their heart to do it. These animals live for a long time. Out of the wild, in a setting in which they are cared for, they live up go 40 years. Jamil is a diamond in the rough. I have been to some of those areas, I've seen the damage, the brutality that has been inflicted on these animals in the name of money. We here in the US have our issues, but no matter what side of the political or ideological spectrum you fall on, most -not all, but most - will agree that we band together at drawing the line at harming animals. Especially babies that have no way to defend themselves. And i see these people who drool over the abuse and trauma that is wreaked on those babies, thinking these monsters are somehow doing good. When I challenge them go show me ONE channel with adult macaques (other than Jamil, of course) they go silent. Because deep down they know that when the babies are no longer cute or approaching an age where they are strong, boom. Dead or dumped. Jamil, you are a class act and deserving of all the praise you get. Thank you for being one of the true forces for good in this world.

Gabapentin is a good drug for relaxing my monkeys too cut nails trim hair and give a good body check for fleas or lice or bot fly larva . I live in Iowa we have four real seasons and when it’s warm my monkeys stay outside in a large round corn crib I got from a old farm and reassembled on a concrete base so cleaning is easy and it has a bathing pond . While outside they love it no diapers no I can’t touch things lol … but that’s what they gave me for bringing in too vet where there’s strange people and people stabbing them with needles lol… so I asked if I could get a few extra for nail cutting and checking them . My monkeys are as gentle as jamils babies but they hate medical things of any sort .

Jamal my dogs do the same thing and I started using the dremel grinder so it is gentler and they act a lot better, also try doing one finger a day and give them a treat while they have it they love, but don’t give them that treat any other time. Your so patient and kind! Good luck!

My dog is the same way like JK. I take my dog to the groomer for nail trims because they have restraints to keep him still. I feel super bad when he nail trims but it’s for their best . You did amazing ❤ lots of patience and glad you didn’t hurt him while he moved.

It is very hard cutting their nails. It’s also a must because they grow rather fast and can cause damage to us or other pets or themselves . Sometimes they way we have to do things isn’t normal but for our protection this has to be.

Jamil, Have you ever thought of doing something to distract JK when you cut his nail? Blindfold him or maybe give him his favorite Toy or food to keep him busy when you cut his nail. Because I think what scares him the most Is visually seeing you cut his nail.
