Are you talking about Zac Taylor, who took the Bengals to the Super Bowl or Marvin Lewis, who coached the Bengals for 15 years with ZERO playoff wins? Nice try.
Yeah, Zac. No African American coach with a similar win/lost record to start their coaching career has EVER been given the opportunity to continue on with the same organization to even get to the point of reaching the Super Bowl. Marvin didn't require patience because he was winning. Zac wasn't.
Remember a couple years ago when Daniel Jones wasn’t terrible, but was only putting up points on the worst defenses? That’s Maye. It seems the Maye narrative is going to get stuck with due to all the time and energy spent hyping him up.
Same thing they did with Romeo Cronnel (?) Bring in the black man during the rebuild, then hire a yt man to reap the benefits. Story old as the NFL itself.
This was the plan the whole time and it’s sad they used him to absorb the loses and stink of this season they knew when they hired him they were gonna fire him he was a place holder
I've heard numerous people say black coaches never get good jobs but it's not true. Tomlin became the Steelers coach in 2007 right after they had just won the 2006 super bowl. Jim Caldwell became the Colts coach in 2008 right after they had just won the 2007 super bowl. Todd Bowles became the Buccaneers coach in 2022 right after they had just won the 2021 super bowl. Tony Dungy got the Colts job and that team was loaded with HOF'ers Manning, Edgerrin James, Marvin Harrison, Dwight Freeney.
Heres the thing half your examples were handpicked successors by SB winning coaches who retired they didn't get that job through the normal interview process. Dungy was one of the best coaches ever fired because the Bucs traded for another elite coach in Gruden. The Colts weren't "taking a chance" on Dungy he was the guy who'd almost gotten to the SB with King as his QB. Tomlins the only one of this group that got picked out of a group of potential candidates.
Easy....mayo lost the locker room,he also was overwhelmed, and the ultimate reason he screwed us on the first overall pick, but in reality it was because we can't pass on Mike vrabel, too good of a coach to pass on
They often (even if in some cases their resumes stink) aren't unemployed for too long before other offers for various positions come in compared to their black counterparts. I'm not saying this is always the case but, often enough. It still has come a LONG way over the decades though. It is a fraternity of sorts.
He was fired because he’s a clown who didn’t make our team even 1% better this season and also sabotaged us from getting first overall pick out of spite and pettiness. Worst coach in the history of the franchise by a wide margin, it was a mistake to give him the position. That’s the truth from a lifelong patriots fan.
Everybody’s who is so outraged about Mayo being fired clearly don’t really follow the Pats. Mayo lost the fan base and the media and was starting to lose the locker room. He kept having bad press conferences. And then you add the team looked horrible. Not to mention, he won the one game he shoulda lost.. all pats fans wanted him gone. And I’m black so it wasn’t a race thing in my opinion

You later admit you don’t actually watch the games, but saying the team was about the same or better than Bill last year because the record was similar is wrong. This year’s team was worse, especially on defense.
Absolutely. Last year they lost mostly because of QB turnovers. This year they were just bad all around.
"Aye, big dog. Let me get cha badge real quick."
Would Vrabel won more than 3-4 games?
"Why did the Patriots fire Jerod Mayo?"
BECAUSE HE SUCKED!!!
Why would Mayo take the job if he was going to get fired after one year?? Of course it is unfair to him. This looks bad and now you add Antonio Pierce to the list? How do they get a chance to build a culture if they are getting fired early in the process!!!
Race is always a factor based on the factual history of America.
Brothers don't get that type of patience. The Bengals coach got all types of time to turn it around.
Zac wasn't.
@ Zac managed to accomplish something that Marvin could never do in 15 years, win a playoff game.
If Mayo and Kraft were on the same page, the Patriots would have the #1 pick. I’m black and it’s not a factor. Mayo didn’t even build culture.
Mayo is better off!!!!
Remember a couple years ago when Daniel Jones wasn’t terrible, but was only putting up points on the worst defenses? That’s Maye. It seems the Maye narrative is going to get stuck with due to all the time and energy spent hyping him up.
Same thing they did with Romeo Cronnel (?)
Bring in the black man during the rebuild, then hire a yt man to reap the benefits. Story old as the NFL itself.
Because Vrabel is totally going to win with this team next year or the foreseeable future...
Black head coaches are not given the same opportunity as the white head coaches.
Did you see that stadium for the last game? It was 1980s empty. Kraft is looking at games getting blacked out next year.
Owners doubling down on that white ish . Vrabel ismt a winner at all. Its not sophisticated, look at every other industry
No this wrong it was trash roster , Bill Simmons was loud voice get him fired, it was wrong to fire like that .
Why you didn’t have the same attitude towards bill cause this was the same team other than the rookies
mayo was fired because he won last game...threw away 1st pick in draft ,pick would give pats 2 first round picks next draft.
Getting fired is never fun; Mayo will be fine, but is stings for a while.
Meh, wrong question. The better one is why they hired him.
This was the plan the whole time and it’s sad they used him to absorb the loses and stink of this season they knew when they hired him they were gonna fire him he was a place holder
This dude has Huge hands like Michael Jordan.
Kraft wants a better coach. Flat out. It's not race.
Kraft get off the internet and go run that mediocre ass team.
Bo is a lions fan??
I've heard numerous people say black coaches never get good jobs but it's not true. Tomlin became the Steelers coach in 2007 right after they had just won the 2006 super bowl. Jim Caldwell became the Colts coach in 2008 right after they had just won the 2007 super bowl. Todd Bowles became the Buccaneers coach in 2022 right after they had just won the 2021 super bowl. Tony Dungy got the Colts job and that team was loaded with HOF'ers Manning, Edgerrin James, Marvin Harrison, Dwight Freeney.
You pointing out exceptions and not the rule doesn’t prove anything lol
Heres the thing half your examples were handpicked successors by SB winning coaches who retired they didn't get that job through the normal interview process. Dungy was one of the best coaches ever fired because the Bucs traded for another elite coach in Gruden. The Colts weren't "taking a chance" on Dungy he was the guy who'd almost gotten to the SB with King as his QB. Tomlins the only one of this group that got picked out of a group of potential candidates.
Easy....mayo lost the locker room,he also was overwhelmed, and the ultimate reason he screwed us on the first overall pick, but in reality it was because we can't pass on Mike vrabel, too good of a coach to pass on
lol so once again the black coach gets one year but the retread non-black coaches can lose over and over again and not go anywhere
That's why i always use Duke's Mayonnaise. 😊
Wrong Kraft fool
The dude makes a load of money for staying home I'm sure he won't crying
Yes. The idea was to tank
So what you’re saying is that Mayo is just a victim of hypergamy?
Everybody’s who is so outraged about Mayo being fired clearly don’t really follow the Pats. Mayo lost the fan base and the media and was starting to lose the locker room. He kept having bad press conferences. And then you add the team looked horrible. Not to mention, he won the one game he shoulda lost.. all pats fans wanted him gone. And I’m black so it wasn’t a race thing in my opinion
Exactly. People are just looking at it from afar saying, “well belichick went 4-13!”. This team was worse than last year’s - on and off the field - and that’s with far better QB play.
Couldn't agree more.
Everytime a hiring to a suck ass team happens it goes as double disparaging against them toward getting a head coaching jobs again in the future.......it almost feels like collusion
its a business.
I knew as soon as I seen the title what your comment was going to be. Meanwhile FS1 is on fire 🔥 and with all the condemning they do of athletes all day now we see who they really are. But then crickets from the media types.
Bomani need to look into that shit in Nashville. This some Rooney rule bs. I'm telling you it is so bad when it gets out Titans gonna lose that 1st overall pick and Amy will be forced to sell that team
He wants Vrabel. And, it was a political hire... To mark the hiring of a minority for record. It's the game!
He shouldn't have been hired.
He got fired because he was no good. Not seasoned enough.
Kraft is looking and sounding like Joe Biden.
Kraft is a clown for the move but We complain when we don't get job chances, now we supposed to be mad and turn down opportunities if we're replacing a legend...smh
Just imagine.....Being in a nice posh building with no sprinklers, no fire exits, and no reliable phone reception that you just found out is on FIRE!!! Talk about your catch 22... At least they still have to pay him.
He had to go!
Hmmmm crazy how yts get MULTIPLE chances to prove their mediocrity.
Did Craft fire Bill or did Bill walk away from the mess? Craft maybe getting way too much “Hands On” credit. 👀
Flip side of the coin. Mayo was only promoted to HC bc he was black?
Bomani is lame for this
Nah dude you got to earn it like everybody else. We always talk about how we're so good and how we build stuff getting their and build it and make it better not worse. But yet here you are saying can I come in after a white man has made it better You're a joke. 😂😂
Black coach no quarterback one season. Steve wilkes won games with xfl star PJ Walker.
Mayo trash.. dude was playing cards after his cardinals loss.... gtfo bro thought he was still a bro..
