If you’re interested in making it a little more gourmet; try using ghee or clarified butter instead of oil, and fine salt, then add more ghee or clarified butter to taste or top.
I counter your $39 expenditure and offer an alternative: 5 quart size dutch oven, not cast iron though that would work. Enough corn oil to just cover the bottom of the pan. I use high heat because I want popcorn today and now! Just enough popcorn kernels to cover the bottom of the pan. 1 tablespoon of butter. 3 tablespoons of butter more melting in the microwave or in a small pan on the stove. Put the lid on and begin agitating the popcorn by moving the pan in a circular motion over the heat. Occasionally, shift direction or move side to side to get the unpopped kernels into the center of the pan. Continue to shake the pan until the popping stops. Empty into an appropriate size large bowl. Use a tablespoon (soup spoon) to sprinkle the melted butter over the popped corn, stirring the popcorn to get good distribution. Salt at the same time with popcorn salt. Devour. Feeds 1 to a handful of people should you want to share. I have tried the spin type poppers and have not been impressed with how they've worked or the minimal amount of popcorn they produce each batch. The science above is sound but $39 up front cost before adding the popcorn is a bit much. That cost doesn't include the pop corn popper. Lastly, I've become a fan of the Amish Country popcorn brand. Rainbow bag is an assortment of all the types of popcorn they grow. Wow. That's a paragraph. Just my opinion. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you dude!!! Got this from amazon, except for the butter oil you have. Tastes like Marcus movie theater popcorn. Definitely needs a bit of something, dunno what either the coconut or the Flavacol. Regardless, your version tastes perfect for my dad. Me though? Need some more of that buttery flavor. Thanks again, you saved me 10 bucks!!! Perfect size too!! Thought it was too little then i saw how much!!! Perfect for a movie Unless Lord Of The Rings lol
