- Esther the Wonder Pig is changing hearts. A Canadian couple adopted a rescued "mini pig" in 2012, but she grew to be 650 pounds. The rescued farm animal now lives on a sanctuary called The Happily Ever Esther Farm Sanctuary.
Her dads, Steve and Derek went vegan after adopting her. The sanctuary's mission is to give neglected and abused farm animals a loving home.

You are correct and I completely agree with you. We humans and non-human animals are all Earthlings, this planet is big enough for all of us to live on it together.
Farmers who say they love their animal and then butcher them are full of it. There are a few here on TH-cam that I quit following because of showing how they were harvesting their animals. All of their followers watched these animal grow up and started to care for them and then one day there’s a video of their body parts on a table. Couldn’t do it anymore. I went from vegetarian to vegan overnight.

I agree that a sanctuary animal should never ever ever be slaughtered. A pig who's gotten even the slightest feel of living the joy of a sanctuary sure better live the rest of his/her life there

The video that made me vegan was one about Esther and how mother pigs are barred to the concrete ground, not being able to get up, feeding her babies and they can not even move their heads to look at their babies. And that cycle continues over and over til the mother dies. Sick.
@Huy Taing I don't think that's true but even if it was I don't care because I would be so mentally I'll eating meat and dairy knowing the horrific abuse that goes on in farming practises... I would be much sicker than not eating it could ever make me. And anyways if what u say is true how do you explain lifelong vegans living healthy to an old age? Cheers.
@@lovesanimalshatesrats6339 I love your comment !! Unfortunately 98% of our meat (farm animals) derive from abusive factory farms. Sadly, that is how sows and their babies live 100% true.

When a pig is in a sanctuary, they better never ever be slaughtered. They call them Forever homes for a reason. Thank God Esther the pig will live out the rest of her life there, something otherwise is too sad and heartbreaking to think about
Their book is an incredible read, and this video is a great introduction to Esther. I hope lots of non-vegans see this and make the connection.

I was vegetarian before my husband's prostate cancer surgery. I went Vegan after that and have learned so many reasons why this is the best way to eat. My husband would have likely not had cancer if he had eaten the once a week meat meal I thought I needed. He is still transitioning, but I honestly don't miss meat. And I love all the critters and really and glad I stopped doing meat.

We had one pig that was a pet (because she was a runt, grew to be a large, full-sized hog, though) but all others were destined for the market. That's the way it was.
I really don’t care about animals I don’t have a connection with. I would eat a dog if I was curious. I wouldn’t eat MY dogs though. I would feel pity if I see a dying animal, but I won’t be sad. I won’t feel a feeling of loss. Fuck I would eat a person if I wanted to know what it tasted like. Owning a pet would make us harder to eat some products, as it would remind you of your pet.
So I guess it’s understandable for this couple to be vegan.

The ability to be a vegan is a first world privilege.
The amount of land that would be needed for the world to go vegan would be crazy high, and all the animals that would died because of habitat loss would be very high as well. Nothing is free. We eat meat because you get a bang for your buck.
Try doing some actual research. It is in fact completely the opposite case. The production of meat takes up so much more land for the production of feed and meat itself, damages the environment more etc. It is an incredibly inefficient food
