Hey my brother...yes we all have to admit it. What the Beatles accomplished in less than a decade is unprecedented. No band will ever accomplish what they did. The world would have to blow up and start over...lol... A few fact about the BEATLES...when they broke up in late 69, the 2 oldest Beatles were only 29(Ringo and John). So all of the BEATLE CLASSICS were done in their 20's. Crazy right? The Beatles have the greatest collection of songs and they were not even 30 when they broke up... The Beatles had over 200 hits that will never be forgotten...

The Beatles' greatness can't be measured in just one or two or three songs. The Beatles changed the trajectory of popular music in America and throughout the English-speaking world (and in several non-English-speaking countries as well). They changed the way boys wore their hair. They changed fashion. They opened the floodgates for what became known as "the British Invasion," a cascade of UK-based bands to come to America and conquer the top 40 charts here. The Beatles, along with their amazing producer George Martin and the engineers at Abbey Road Studios, invented multi-track recording just so the Beatles could realize their creative visions. (Now consider that prior to the Sgt. Pepper's album, music was recorded on 2-track "stereo" tape machines, and that Sgt. Pepper's was recorded on a whopping 4-track machine. Not the virtually unlimited number of tracks we now have available in today's digital world.) Another little tidbit: Back when the Beatles were popular, the most listened-to music radio stations here in America were all on AM, not FM. So we mostly grew up hearing all their music in MONO, not STEREO. On low-fidelity AM radio (where nothing above 10 KHz gets through) It's hard for people today who weren't around back then to appreciate just what a big deal the Beatles were...and still are. Name one other band that could repackage 25 of their old hits and release them today and have that album shoot up to #1 on the album charts. But the Beatles can...and they did when they released their album "1" several years ago. Paul McCartney played the Super Bowl halftime show back when he was around 50 or 55 years old and the fans of all ages went crazy (not many artists in history could do such a thing). There is really not much debate that the Beatles were the greatest band ever.

They are the best ever. The thing with the Beatles is that they have so many different types of songs and they evolved so much through the short 8 years that they really were around. You need to listen to a lot of their songs to really appreciate how versatile they were and how much they changed and how much they changed music forever.

The Beatles were my first favorite band when I was a child. 40 years later, they are still, hands down, my favorite band of all time. I still listen to them to this day. They have tons of great songs, that I gradually discover over the decades. Most fans will tell you how difficult it is to suggest what songs to react, because they do have literally hundreds of good songs. Also, it seems to be difficult to react to the Beatles because of the copyright issues. So, good luck and enjoy your journey into the most influential and greatest band😊😎.

As I write this, it is now July 19, 2022 and I am 75 years old now, and STILL a fan, I turn back into that 16/17 year old girl that I was, when I play their music. "IN MY LIFE" is a song that I want played at my funeral. I LOVE IT,

It’s hard for people now to understand how revolutionary the Beatles’ music was for their time. And they didn’t come up with a sound and stick with it. They were always at the vanguard. Every album had a new sound. Sgt. Pepper blew the minds of a whole generation. They changed music forever.

Their music progressed the pop world so much in just a decade, not just in what you could do in song writing but in recording techniques too, their influence was a global phenomenon. Their songs have been covered hundreds and hundreds of times by all genre of artists and still continue to be reinterpreted by modern artists to this day. You probably know more of their songs than you think you do, you just won't have realised who wrote them. Their influences were eclectic and they could do sweet ballads, silly kids songs, funky tracks and full on rockers. One track on an album does in no way represent the rest of the tracks, variety of style, instrumentation and musical genre with a sense of melody that has yet to be equalled, was their long lasting genius. I'd recommend you check out some of the later material which is a better starting point for modern ears... 'Come together', 'Don't let me down', 'Let it be'.

They just don't write songs as beautifully crafted as this one anymore. Deceivingly simple but so deep and amazingly done. You also need to know that each year brought us a different sound. They never sounded the same as they evolved. They changed music forever. They were very innovative too. The contributions they made are enormous. Can't go by one song here or there. Their body of music tells an epic story on so many levels.

To understand the greatness of the Beatles early songs, you have to hear what was playing on the radio just before they hit the scene. It was nearly dead. Music was so tightly controlled by the labels there was almost nothing new or fresh happening. As simple as the early Beatles songs were, they were a breath of fresh air. They put out their albums very quickly, and every one was better than the one before. They explored, learned, and grew at an amazing rate.

I went into The Beatles as a doubter. Over the course of listening to their Greatest Hits CD “1” I went from being that doubter to absolute awe at their talent and influence. Just off the CD “1” were so many songs that are perfect tunes. Those tunes had been covered by so many people that I didn’t realize they were originally by The Beatles. And, that’s only a Greatest Hits CD. The band’s true full album catalogue is legendary.

Songs that make you happy "Here Comes the Sun" or sad "The Long and Winding Road". TRUST ME. The BEST band that ever existed, and influenced ALL who came after. The Beatles (mainly Lennon and McCartney at first) started their careers crafting great commercial pop songs. The music and lyrics were perfect. Their live shows were finely honed from constant performance. By the time they released Rubber Soul, their sixth studio album, they had become so popular and had sold so many records that they no longer needed to resort to the formulaic (though superbly written) songs of their early days. They were then given the artistic freedom that allowed them to reach into their souls for some really personal and totally original music. If you listen to Rubber Soul and later albums...Revolver, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Abbey Road, Let it Be...you'll find that music to be a real treat for your ears and mind.

They have so many amazing songs in many different styles. So in order to really get a feeling of what the Beatles are like one must listen to more than just a few songs. Some of my favorite songs are:
    -Here comes the Sun
    -Tomorrow Never Knows
    - Let it Be (the version from "let it be.. naked")
    - Across the universe (the version from "let it be.. naked")
    - You've got to hide your love away
    - Lucy in the sky with diamonds
    - Back in the U.S.S.R
    - While my guitar gently weeps
    - Yesterday
    - All my loving
    - I'm a loser
    - the whole Abbey Road medley (many songs that beautifully flow into one another)

Rubber Soul ... their best unsung album. You need to realize.... every song you hear today, in any genre, started with them. Not the actual music but the youthful answer to our parents music. Up until the Beatles, we listened to music that centered around 40s-50s music from our parents. This was ours! And it was in your face loud and proud and they hated it. We loved it even more!
As far as the rabbit hole .... you need to be prepared. The journey is long and so amazing. If you follow chronologically through their stuff, you will literally relive the 60s. I hope you try! What a great ride it can be.

You had to be there. The Beatles were our life. Everything, their music, culture, clothes. As a huge and I would like to think fairly knowledgeable listener of popular music, a lot of younger people cannot understand the impact they had on our lives, they were everywhere. I was there with them back in the '60's and since then there has not been a band or artist as huge or influential as The Beatles. They were a hit machine and were the soundtrack to my and millions of music lovers early lives. They hold a special place in my heart. Suggest, listen to everything they ever did, you are sure to find songs which resonate with you personally. Enjoy the journey.

Keep in mind how huge their catalogue is, and that of all the albums they released over their 8 years together, no two were the same. They kept changing and innovating and many consider their last one to be their best.
If you check their history, sales, chart positions etc, you'll see a little more evidence of why they're ranked so high. They had about 20 US #1 songs. Many of their best songs aren't even among them.

They started of with early rock n roll like I want to Hold your Hand, Twist and Shout, Back in the USSR, Hey Jude, Here Comes the Sun, She Came in thru the Bathroom Window, and tons more. Oh man you're gonna have a blast discovering this band!! I checked out a ton of their songs in quarantine and now I totally get why they're considered the best ever! I recommend “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”, the album version (th-cam.com/video/bI8P6ZSHSvE/w-d-xo.html)

The thing is that if you take 30 songs by the Beatles and listen to them randomly...you still would be only scratching the surface. WHo else can say that

I like you and your reaction to the biggest selling Singles AND Album Group of all time by a Country Mile.
This Song will take on much extra meaning when, like me, you are 66 years of age, and your experience the sights, sounds, people, and places that you grew up with change or disappear altogether. Parts of where I was brought up are totally unrecognisable aesthetically and culturally and even in the last 2 months in THe UK we have lost 12 icons of Movie, Theatre, and Music as I was growing up. They wrote this when they were in their early 20's. Even 2 of THe 4 Beatles are no longer with us...

The Beatles are a deep rabbit hole, indeed. This list is just scratching the surface, you really need to listen to the whole albums, particularly with the later ones.
    Something
    Eleanor Rigby
    Norwegian Wood
    Help!
    Yesterday
    While My Guitar Gently Weeps
    Revolution
    Hey Jude
    Come Together
    Here Comes the Sun
    And Your Bird Can Sing
    Strawberry Fields
These are from the Let It Be album, which are worth comparing the the 2013 remaster Let It Be..Naked with much simpler mixes and production - for some I much prefer the Naked version:
    Let It Be
    The Long and Winding Road
    Get Back
    Across the Universe
    I Me Mine

This is one of their loveliest, you picked a good one :) . There's a very broad range of moods, experiences and storytelling with the Beatles, depending on which era/album you listen to and which of them wrote the song. It can be good to check out their compilation albums (the blue and red collections) to get a taste and find the era of theirs you're connecting with best at that time to then go check out albums from that period.

You need to listen from their beginnings to how they finished. Near 8 years, wow. Very good bands could never get near this in 30 years. None will equal.
