You didn't lose them bro... They're down there, you'll just never reach them again. I dropped my cell phone in there a couple days ago; came back today to lower my son down in there, and he fell in... He said there are all types of LOST objects and PEOPLE who've jumped in there!
Normally I congratulate the sound person. Today a shout out to the person who books and selects the artists. Consistently amazing! which is a tough job considering they often take lesser known artists from any genre of music.
They aren't nobodies, they're people who are getting hyped in their circles. But the booking ppl are plugged in, in that they have access to those in the know and people reach out to them.
Once again, the diversity of artists selected to appear on these Tiny Desk Concerts and the work of the sound crew is deep and rich. Well done NPR music.
I spent week at DJ Jazzy Jeff home making music with Chris Dave(Drums), Thaddaeus Tribbett(Bass), & Daniel Crawford(Keys). I am grateful to have shed with these brothers and gained more knowledge musically. When I talked with Chris Dave one on one he gave some great knowledge about being a Music Director of a band. He said "If you are the band leader and one of your musicians messes up at the show, That falls on the band leader, not anyone else". Grateful for that musicianship.
This here...this thing right here is the very reason tiny desk is the Biggest and Baddest thing going today. Chris Daddy Dave..genius..rocking with you since Mint Condition..
I have a friend who is a professional drummer that turned me on to this Chris Dave a few days ago....and here he is on Tiny Desk. Amazing to know real music is not dead because of artists like these. NPR PLEASE have Yessuf Dayes on here next with Mansur Brown, Alfa Mist and Rocco Palladino. I would pay good money to see that. Thanks for spotlighting these artists that most people would not know about if it was not for you guys.
Some of the best sounds I have ever heard, this recording sounded so good....I wanted to listen to it all over again, the sum of the contributors is so much more than the addition of their individual parts....the interplay between them is inimitable...the power of a united collective...... Full spectrum frequency coverage, from the lowest of lows to the highest of highs..... I would love to hear them live... Definitely this was special... and I hope they read this... best wishes........I must buy their CD sometime... to give something back, they deserve all the reward for adding these wonderful sonics to my experience of life......
It definitely takes the right musician to play live hip-hop. You gotta be a hip hop head, especially in the Dilla-school. I the most talented jazz musicians that could barely hold a hip-hop groove.
Fantastic!!! Musicianship is just off the charts. Really been following the Drumhedz for a while and it's great to see them on Tiny Desk. Just get D'Angelo in here.
Guest Slum Village vocalist, Elzhi, is a nod to J-Dilla's composition genuis. Chris Dave, Kebbi Williams (flute/saxaphone) are some J-Dilla loving cats for sure.
So great! This performance only gave us a sliver of how much fire-power is in the band. Go see these guys live and you'll see every one of these legends shut down the room.

That snare and stacked cymbal combo sounds so amazing! So much overflowing creativity too.
Chris Dave speaks exactly like Q-Tip from A Tribe Called Quest. I did a total double take as soon as he opened his mouth
One of the tightest bands I’ve ever seen. Good lord. These are a musicians musicians right here. Incredible
That djembe solo @12:26 Yes yes yes. Live hearing another drummer that's deep in the tradition. He plays beautifully!!
Probably my favorite Tiny Desk to date. But...is it freezing cold or broiling hot in there? The clothing choices don't give us a lot of data.
Lolol...
Riiight
My literal thoughts. 😂😂😂😂
Yes.
Lol that I can remember, it was pretty cool in there, not hot.
It must be just right actually
Elzhi is one of the best MCs I've seen live, his control of the mic is crazy
I love the guitars trading licks on “whatever”🎸
Tiny desk never failed ussssssssss even ONCE.....

Chris Dave is often imitated but remains one of a kind. That being said, Does everybody else see the guy wearing denim overalls or just me?
Frank Moka!! Lol

Wearing that, he was just asking for a bongo solo nip slip.

He meant acoustic instruments with no looping.... You can say what you want... About tracking but a live full band with hip hop is irreplaceable.

What an insanely talented group of humans. Just amazing. Chris Dave is one of the best drummers of all time without doubt
