I guess I won't be able to teach you anything you don't know yet now about Aurora...😀 She's truly astonishing, especially when it comes to live performances. Her musical palette is very wide, she doesn't really care about musical genres, just doing what comes to her, so to speak. Being myself mainly metal, some of the songs of her albums are a bit far from my own taste, even if I enjoy at least most of them, as they have her beautiful stamp. But live she's just mindblowing, you had a glimpse here, and I guess that "a soul with no king" didn't disappoint you (it seems that I read comments...). She tends to vary her live renditions. From slightly, to completely (that generally in live sessions or specific concerts). In this last case it can be instrumentation, tempo, way of singing, even the genre, whatever her inspiration tells her I think). So even the several songs that are difficult to me have a live version that I love... which gives me a huge respect for this lady, and as you read a lot in this section, many feel the same in their own way. Her overall talent, and what she's really made of as a musical artist can't be grasped through only a small handful of songs. Like many others, I hope you'll enjoy travelling the various and always beautiful landscapes of her Queendom, this land of musical plenty she constantly creates, enlarges and embellishes. Nice reatcion Alan. Aurora is my all time favorite artist (she is 28 now), she writes the most thought provoking dark subject matter songs that she shines a light on in the darkness, she is untouchable in her songwriting, IMO. She is a self taught multi talented artist who is performance art when you watch her live. The pure clarity in her voice is balm for the heart and soul. The only lessons she ever had were approximately 10 years of dance, she is a great dancer too, she taught herself how to play the piano when she found one in the attic at home at the age of 6. Anyway, she has been writing songs from a very young age and has a large discography for you to explore. I would suggest a live Vevo performance of A Soul With No King from her recent album dropped last June. Looking forward to more Aurora on your channel, hope to see you soon.

I've loved this version ever since it was first recorded, and I heard it live on Triple J as it was recorded. Your analysis was insightful and fantastic. I just stumbled across your channel, and I'm keen to hear more, thanks for the content.
She is perhaps even more impressive as a lyricist, even a poet. She started writing lyrics at 9 years old, inspired by the Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan records. Any of her songs, released or unreleased will be interesting, touching or exciting. To hear her vocal chops, listen to any of the live performances on VEVO. To see her perform for an audience, check out her performance at KEXP.

"Teardrop" (also formatted as "Tear Drop") is a song by English trip hop group Massive Attack. Vocals are performed by Scottish singer Elizabeth Fraser, former lead singer of Cocteau Twins, who also wrote the lyrics.
Always interesting when Aurora is heard for the first time. It's also interesting what is chosen the first time. Boy, there's a lot to discover... you'll get plenty of suggestions in the comments. You really can't choose wrong, because no matter what you choose, Aurora will surprise you. I usually recommend one of their official videos and then the same song live, Aurora is the best live. Aurora's essence shines through there best. I'm curious whether you'll continue on this path, I'll follow you and I'm curious what you think about Aurora Aksnes from Norway, singer, lyricist and producer of unique music.
@@alan-reacts65 Interesting that you chose one of her newer songs. Most people look for her older (live) performances. I'm curious what you think about the performance and the song (and of course what impression Aurora and her voice leave on you). I'll be there. 😉
Murder Song 5,4,3,2,1 Live at the Nobel Peace Prize........one of the best live performances ever.....(IMHO)....a song she wrote at a very young age, this performance was when she was 15 I think.
She just released her 4th album in June (and she also turned 28), and she also has 2 EPs released previously. She writes her own music and lyrics with co-writers on a few songs. She is very known for her amazing covers, many of them as challenges by radio stations with very little rehearsing, and she often changes the songs to her own style. This performance is from January 2017, and it was the first time she sang this song. They didn't say in the interview, but it would not surprise me if this was one of those "challenges" and only rehearsed briefly at the radio station. She performed the song only once more in March 2020. Here are some examples of her covers: The Beatles - Across The Universe (also on triplej), David Bowie - Life On Mars (channel NRK), Imagine Dragons - Believer, Ariana Grande - God Is A Woman, Harry Styles - Golden and many more, around 30 covers.
@@alan-reacts65 One of those radio station challenges was Boney M - Rasputin, and she wrote afterwards in the youtube comments, that they only rehearsed for ~15min.
Much of her original music can be introspectively healing, and revolutionary. Some of the best Audio recordings are with her vevo performances, of which one of the best is her performance of “The seed.” And one of her best Audio recorded live performances was done back in 2015 at the Nobel peace prize concert, particularly her performance of “Murder song 54321”.

I see you say you're going to do A Soul With No King. The live Vevo performance of that, is one of the greatest live performances I've ever seen and heard. Aurora has got a big back catalogue. What I will say, is her live performances are generally best, and no 2 are the same. If I say, for a long time, the Cocteau Twins, and Elizabeth Fraser, were probably one of my all time favourites, you know I know the history of Teardrop. In some ways, Aurora is the Elizabeth Fraser of the 21st Century. They are very different, but very similar singers. Liz often sang meaningless and unintelligible lyrics. Whereas Aurora writes clear lyrics, and her diction is some of the clearest of any singer. But they both have unique, and influential singing styles. Billie Eilish, credits hearing Aurora's, Runaway, as inspiring her to start a career in music. Look it up, she says it a number of times. Elizabeth Fraser and the Cocteau Twins, were massively influential.

omg, I was just thinking this exact thing today and giggled at how I thought the first meeting would play out (Aurora being Aurora lol). I would SO enjoy hearing/seeing that collab and especially BTS video ;)
The key to Aurora is "different". All her songs are different and every performance a reinterpretation, often radical. Stick to her live performances as she sings in the moment. Try a recent one of hers, the Vevo performance of "Soul with no King".

9:41 nope. She is self taught on both piano and voice. Noone knew she made music until her family discovered it when she was around 15-16yrs.
Thank you that is so good to know and learn 😊👍
I’ve added to the list , and an fyi I’m getting “ soul without a king” edited at the moment for upload in next 4 days 😊 hope you come back and share your thoughts 💭 I really do appreciate them 👍
Hello friend. Great reaction of this cover. This little thiny being with her truly big voice is a gamechanger and total free spirit. Welcome to our beautiful world of music.

Just having “ soul without a king “ edited for upload in next seven days 😊 hope you share your thoughts with us all ☺️
He's found the rabbit hole, will he fall down it?
Tomorrow 14:00 GMT .. I think this next video might answer that question 😊👍
Just having “ soul without a king “ edited for upload in the next 7 days 😊 I’m hoping you will come back and share your thoughts
@@alan-reacts65 Interesting that you chose one of her newer songs. Most people look for her older (live) performances. I'm curious what you think about the performance and the song (and of course what impression Aurora and her voice leave on you). I'll be there. 😉
@@alan-reacts65 By the way, the old Vespa in the background along with the sand track races makes you immediately likeable to me...❤
@Holgerdansk to be honest I choose it for 2 reasons , 1 it’s her song , 2 I liked the song title .. 😊
@@alan-reacts65 You won't be disappointed.😊
So her ability to get a song , adapt it to her vocal and artistic tastes then play it with real meaning and ability ! I’m going to enjoy this a lot 😊
@@alan-reacts65 One of those radio station challenges was Boney M - Rasputin, and she wrote afterwards in the youtube comments, that they only rehearsed for ~15min.
So I just finished my review of an Aurora original song , scheduled it for upload next Sunday and I will be interested to see how it’s recieved , 😊
@@alan-reacts65 Well then I'm curious to hear what you say about that.😊
Much of her original music can be introspectively healing, and revolutionary. Some of the best Audio recordings are with her vevo performances, of which one of the best is her performance of “The seed.” And one of her best Audio recorded live performances was done back in 2015 at the Nobel peace prize concert, particularly her performance of “Murder song 54321”.
She is covering songs a lot, even her own. This is a slow live cover of her more popish song "The River": th-cam.com/video/nyEN3MyXtrg/w-d-xo.html

please listen to her cover of "Across The Universe", it's one of a kind~
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights , I really do value the time and care you’ve taken 😊

Thank you so very much 😊 please feel free to go have a look around the Chanel over 600 videos from 3 years , and I hope that you can pop in and let me and us all know “ what’s next 😊
A collaboration with REN and Aurora would be fascinating
Oh !! That’s something the music world might just explode with 😊😎👍
omg, I was just thinking this exact thing today and giggled at how I thought the first meeting would play out (Aurora being Aurora lol). I would SO enjoy hearing/seeing that collab and especially BTS video ;)
Lots of originals to choose from, but I think you should first listen to her cover of "life on mars" (at Trygdekontoret)
Coming tomorrow “ Soul without a King” hope everyone tunes in and comments 😊😎👍
The key to Aurora is "different". All her songs are different and every performance a reinterpretation, often radical. Stick to her live performances as she sings in the moment. Try a recent one of hers, the Vevo performance of "Soul with no King".
@@jonathanwetherell3609 I’m going to point this ! Because if you look through my replies , the latest song that’s being edited for me right now is “Soul with no King” I was asked why I choose it ? My honest answer “ it’s new and I just liked the title ! So I hope you come back to see what I experienced 😊👍
