They botched this scene in one regard: dialogue needed another line from Kelly: "Come on, Norman, you were never in danger. Gun was unloaded. You said so yourself." Something along those lines.
John did have a point countering Bradley Whitford's character claiming Martinez should've known the gun was loaded. I always liked the mentorship between John and Martinez. It also goes to show Martinez having good instincts of a detective and why he eventually proceeds professional down the line.
And this right here is why using even a painted water gun will be treated as a real fire arm in the courts. The only one who knows if its a real gun or a loaded one is the one holding it not the one at the other end of the barrel. Keep that in mind next time you think it might be funny to prank someone with an airsoft gun.....you're either going to end up with a ass kicking/charge or getting shot by someone with a real one...
Caruso's pissed off, over-acting in this scene when he starts pointing the gun on Norman is hilarious. That leveled voice is seething with fury and those eyes! lol
If only people understood his point today. In a situation as fast as what James was in there isn't time to shot a gun out someone hands as tv has shown as a way to stop a on coming threat. You have to act and act fast. Kelly point was so sound Whitford couldn't even be upset more so embarrassed because he almost wet his pants. Scenes like this is why I wish that red head would have stayed for atleast 3 years
