Tuesday Morning has the BEST selection of awesome great quality napkins!! I can see a Frugal Crafter T-shirt "DON'T BURN YOUR HANDS OFF!!" LOL!! :-) That would be cool! thanks so much for this tutorial Lindsay!!
" I'm gonna use foam tape" !!! Lol lol oh my I was laughing so much at the size of that roll ! Great card and fabulous tutorial Lindsay , Tfs hugs Sarah xx
Oh. My. GOSH!!!!! I have used paper napkins in card making for the last couple of years, but never using the plastic wrap! I have always used the "glue the heck out of a piece of cardstock" method and pray it didn't curl too much! I actually bought the same napkins that you have at my local Dollar Tree and made a couple card fronts for a friend to use and was actually planning on making more card fronts this weekend....BUT NOW it will go MUCH quicker thanks to your video!!! Thanks for all your crafting goodness that you put out here for us! Oh, and by the way, Tuesday Morning has BEAUTIFUL Christmas napkins out now! Thanks again!!
Tuesday Morning is a great place to find great napkin patterns. I have a group of art friends and every so often we have a napkin swap since when you buy napkin packs you have more than you can use.
Such a cute card....I love this technique! I have to tell you, whenever I go to a function with beautiful or cute napkins I take one home and put them in a box labelled "Napkins" LOL...my husband always says I am a hoarder...wait till he sees what I'm going to do with them...That is going to be fun! TFS
Love this new idea. I have used Wonder Under before, but this plastic is way cheaper than Wonder Under. Can't wait to give it a try because I'm always buying pretty napkins to use for projects.
Alina haha, me too. I have years worth! I saw a tutorial like this a few years back where the lady used plastic grocery bags instead and i have a ton of those i need to get rid of. This video came up on autoplay and I am glad i was reminded of this technique because i have a big stash of halloween napkins i want to try 😁
OMG I love this idea. In the past I have used a spray adhesive and the edges roll up occassionally before it reaches it's destination. It will be a lifechanger for Christmas cards. sooooo many.
I LOVE this idea! I saved beautiful harvest napkins from last year, thinking I might try to mod podge them on something, but never got around to trying. This is even better! I love to do anything paper related, but largely do paper crafts lately for my planners. I will be taking your method and making planner dividers out of lovely napkins! Now, like you, I am going to see them everywhere and scoop them up! Thanks for such a great and timely video! =) Your frugal stuff truly hits home with me.
EEK! Wow, I am so excited now. I always see adorable napkins and think "I wish I had a way to use these in my crafts". This is perfect...I love the outcome! TFS and I also love the stardust gelly roll pens. They rock!
That is a fantastic technique. This is the first time I have seen this done. I'm so happy to learn this because I see so many beautiful napkins and I kept thinking that there must be something to do with it besides decoupage. A card is perfect. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Lindsay. I used Modpodge to put my serviette on to cardstock and being in South Africa I use a lot of wild animal pictures. When the podge is dry I burned the edge with cigarette lighter. I am careful to stamp out the burning with the base of the lighter so the picture is not ruined. It really is very effective. I am so jealous of your Dollar Store - we don't have anything like that in South Africa. I love your work and can't wait for your videos.
I'm so doing this with valentine's day cards. I went to the dollar tree and found everything there to make my cards (minus the card stock and my glue) super excited to get them finished and show them off ;) thanks for the idea
If you use a pair of Tim Holtz scissors they won't stick to your foam tape. Or Honeybee scissors are non-stick as well. This is a really great idea thanks for sharing.
Have used napkins in mixed media pieces, but never heard about the cardstock, saran wrap, napkin sandwich. That's terrific if you want your napkin to stay flat or if you don't want the painted background to bleed through. Thanx. And, of course, lovely work as always.
So many possibilities! I like the mulberry idea--got a bunch at Dollar Tree with no particular plan and now I know how to use it. Thanks for the video.
I have a roll of double-sided tape like that that my across-the-street neighbor gave me y.e.a.r.s ago and I've barely made a dent in it. Love this technique. Will certainly have to try it.
Great video! I've toyed with napkin transfers and had some success. The way you embellished the card was cool, and it added that little pizzazz the card needed to make it a stellar. Thanks...
Lindsay I used this transfer technique! It took a bit for me to get the right heat setting and duration of heat application right but I love it. I also used the envelope generator app to make an envelope for a card made from the same napkin you used here. I don't have a punch board but it still worked great. Thanks so much! Oh, also, I made a couple swing cards like you have showed us. I'm learning so much and getting braver. Thanks for all you do.
Thanks for this tutorial. I had no idea you could iron napkins on card stock with plastic wrap! Many years ago I always used a glue like Mod Podge - also on transparent sheets to make transparent cards. I also gave the napkin an extra layer of coat to protect the thin tissue. Definitely going to try this!
Wowzers Chief!!! plastic wrap as an adhesive... Mind Blown.... best... Idea.. EVER! ps. I may or may not have actually snorted when I laughed at "don't burn your hands off" :)
hi Lyndsay thanks again its sometimes the simplest things we get the most fun out of. you can do it plain or bling it up all ready for when you need. regards Paul
That is such a great idea nd I never realized you could use plastic wrap to attach it to paper. I've seen people use glue and it seems like your way is much easier and won't rip or break as easily vs glue.
Hint! Michael's craft store carries the two pack of those Gelly Role sparkle pens. I think I paid $8.99 for the pack, but used a coupon! I can't wait to go to the dollar store and find napkins to do this too! Thanks for another wonderful idea, Lindsay!
I'm going to try this! It would be a great way to use napkins more easily in mixed media. A good way to adhere them with mod podge is to decoupage them down, then smooth out the wrinkles with plastic wrap.
I had tried this before and wasn't completely satisfied with my results. (edges coming loose, wrinkles) Today I made two napkin cards using Xyron adhesive instead of doing the plastic wrap/hot iron. Put the adhesive on the cardstock and carefully lay the napkin layer on top of it. Worked beautifully! I have heard that others have used different kinds of glues also. "Use what you have." :-)
Lindsey, You mentioned Sam's club plastic wrap had a zip cutter on box, you know you could just ' refill' box with any roll of the same length .... ...ha ha, just thought Id mention that.Neat project. Ive never fused a napkin. I have fused plastic bags together to make a larger , more durable bag.ps They sell scissors that are Teflon for tape cutting. I got one on ebay.
Awesome tutorial again Lindsay, have you ever used a Heat press ( t shirt printing machine) just wondering if you could iron with a press instead and press time...
Wish I'd seen this about a month ago. I saw some very pretty napkins at the dollar store, but didn't buy them, because I had no idea how I could use them. Great idea!
Just went to the dollar tree and was saying cause they Halloween section shrank but i found the spider napkins, raven ones and some other you didn't have. I'm so excited
I have found that having scissors or whatever cutting tool you are using to cut sticky adhesives WET, the sticky won't stick to your cutting tool. Having your fingers damp will stop it from sticking to your fingers too. It will still stick to your project. I found this makes working with sticky adhesives more enjoyable to work with and quicker.
That's a cool idea using napkins, I would never have thought of that! Very cool :D I don't craft, I'm an illustrator but perhaps it would come in handy at some point.. :D
I have one that I made and layered, and I would upload it here, but I don't know how. but I love making napkin paper, it's really cool. Press-n-seal by Glad works really well, too. I have found that not all plastic wrap is created equal for this technique, but the press-n-seal works every time.
I have used smaller napkins on card stock run through my Xyron. that worked well too. Think ironing on hard surface is better than using ironing board as I tried and failed in this technique
Hi Lindsay...thanks for this tutorial....Was wondering if you could do a diy Shrink Plastic Charm tutorial??? I can always depend on you for bringing us a an inexpensive way of doing things xxA
Love your card! I went to my local dollar tree and they didn't have half of the goodies you got. Our store is pretty pathetic. Great video Lindsay thanks!
Jeanie, Have you tried other Dollar Tree stores? I live near 3 and they stock similarly, but also stock based on their neighborhood just like 99 Cents Only stores or Big Lots stores do. Also try to go 2-3 months prior to any holiday season because they stock earlier and earlier every year lol! Last tip is to go there often and get friendly with the staff to find out how often they restock. Good luck!
I know the Manager at the store where I go. I have been trying to talk to her but when I go she isn't there. I will keep trying. Thanks for the great tips!
I just don’t know how this works; I’ve tries loads of times and it just doesn’t adhere. Iron on high, kept iron on for ages still nothing. I just presume that the wrap in the UK may be different.
I have done this and crinkle up the napkin first and it turns out very cool. I also used the 'flimsy' plastic bags from Walmart for the adhesive and it worked just as good as the plastic wrap... just saying...if you want to use up some of the bags that seem to multiply. ;-) I don't know if there is a way to add a photo to show you, or I would.
Years ago I went to a class where we ironed napkins on to freezer paper and made fancy envelopes that were very sturdy. They were so pretty I didn't want to use them.
Thank you so much for doing this tutorial Lindsay!! I am DEFINETLY going to do this! I have some different napkin patterns that I am excited to do this with :) I absolutely love how your card came out!! Besides the napkin technique the layering, frame, sparkle pen, gems and using the decorative scissor edges all make it totally awesome!! I know exactly what you mean with the paper that I don't much care for. They work out excellent for layering and then I end up liking the paper lol. Can I ask you, how do you store the homemade blending tool? Sorry if this is a lame question, but do you have to seal it in a plastic bag or something when not using? I am planning on making them :)
Lol omg I have the Exact same napkins! Also check Party City (if you have one near you) for some cheap and cool skull napkins. I used one on poly clay for a spooky necklace, and had friends ask me to make them one too!
I just took a class recently where we used pretty napkins and bee's wax,the teacher said she got the idea from you tube.....it was lots of fun and it had its own very cool texture....maybe you might like to try it?
In case anyone is looking for the stardust pen - I found the 2 pack at JoAnn's. I think it was 3.99 but I used a coupon so it ended up being pretty cheap for 2 of them. They work great!
I found a two pack on amazon as an add on item (which means you need to spend at least $25 from amazon itself to qualify to put it in your cart) but it was only like $4.00 or around there while the rest were $12.00 for a two pack!! You just have to look and dig around! :)
Hi again Lindsay... Really soooooooooooo super cute ~~ thank you so much for the ideas... Could you use a heat tool instead of an iron... Thank you so much for sharing... Have a fun evening... Surie
Could you show us what to do with embossed papers? I bought an embossing folder because I liked the design, but now I don't know what to do with this bumpy piece of paper.
Hi making the same way as we did at school, long time ago. cuts out on black paper and orange paper tissues showing out from cut black card as a pumpkin etc .hope you know what i mean
Tuesday Morning has the BEST selection of awesome great quality napkins!!

I've been hoarding napkins., now I know what to do with them! thank you sooooo much for stamp school Lindsay! Your enthusiasm is so inspiring!
Alina haha, me too. I have years worth! I saw a tutorial like this a few years back where the lady used plastic grocery bags instead and i have a ton of those i need to get rid of. This would be such a sweet idea for a couple that got married - if there are any napkins left they could do this and use them as thank you cards!
wow..... plastic wrap! That tip is just awesome!!! Cute cards!
EEK! Wow, I am so excited now. I always see adorable napkins and think "I wish I had a way to use these in my crafts". This is perfect...I love the outcome! TFS and I also love the stardust gelly roll pens. They rock!

Thanks!!!
amazing idea. I have tons of napkins cause I'm a decoupage freak. now I can use on cards. thanks for the inspiration ♡

What a phenomenal way too use serviettes and I'm a hoarder of pretty ones !!!
OOOOooo! Love this technique! I'm going to the Dollar Tree to hunt down napkins! Thank you!
So many possibilities! I like the mulberry idea--got a bunch at Dollar Tree with no particular plan and now I know how to use it. Thanks for the video.
Holy transfer, Batman! I had no idea. Game changer.
I have a roll of double-sided tape like that that my across-the-street neighbor gave me y.e.a.r.s ago and I've barely made a dent in it. Love this technique. Will certainly have to try it.
This is such a great way to make an awesome card. I have some decorative napkins that would make beautiful cards. Thanks for showing how to do this.
You can also add heat and stick to it and then heat it and put glitter all over it for your Christmas cards.
Plastic Wrap adhesive? Who knew lol? Definitely going to try this one out! Thanks Lindsay :)
Thank you Lindsay. Great idea for cards. You are so creative. TFS

Another one of "Lindsay's videos" going into my favorites file!!!! Graze graze Lindsay! DD
+DDspaperworks aww, thanks!
It would be a GREAT gift if you were to save a napkin from a loved ones wedding or birthday or anniversary party and make them a keepsake 😁
+Carla Harrell That would be an excellent First Anniversary gift because it's traditional to give a "paper" item for the First.
Omgosh what a great idea!
What a great project idea! I love the technique - You ARE so creative! :) Thank you for taking the time to do this for us.
oOOOH, I hope to see this kind of card with Christmas napkins. I'm excited to try.
Thanks for this tutorial. I had no idea you could iron napkins on card stock with plastic wrap! Many years ago I always used a glue like Mod Podge - also on transparent sheets to make transparent cards. I also gave the napkin an extra layer of coat to protect the thin tissue. Good ideas. I think I will try the napkin transfer!
I've tried this but didn't work for me. Must the the type of film I used. Might try it again with a different brand.
nice job Lindsay. I love what you have done. good job
Wowzers Chief!!! plastic wrap as an adhesive... Mind Blown.... best... Idea.. EVER!

just watched, wow, great idea. don't even use napkins but great idea. thanks
Great Lindsay,We have used paper napkins using Mod Podge on china mugs. works well but does not go in the dishwasher. Thanks a lot.

Saw another tip for you. When you are separating the plies of napkin and it sticks, iron it very quickly and the plies fall apart...slick.
+Sandy Parker thanks!
Cool! I really like it and I think it's cool that you can just use a napkin to make a beautiful card. :)

Im in a group on Facebook and we are doing Journal pages that are made from napkins! This would be PERFECT!
Thanks for this tutorial.
Great idea!
I'm going to try this it's awesome
could you show us some ideas for get well cards in stamp school? I always have the hardest time coming up with ideas for those.
+joannesminis good idea Joanne!

In your search for napkins, if you have a "Tuesday Morning" store near you , they have some of the prettiest and lots of them.
Thank you so much for doing this tutorial Lindsay!! I am DEFINETLY going to do this! I had no idea! Thanks
Sooo cool! Do you have a site I can buy from?
I found a two pack on amazon as an add on item (which means you need to spend at least $25 from amazon itself to qualify to put it in your cart) but it was only like $4.00 or around there while the rest were $12.00 for a two pack!! You just have to look and dig around! :)
Hi again Lindsay...
Really soooooooooooo super cute ~~ thank you so much for the ideas...
Could you use a heat tool instead of an iron...
Thank you so much for sharing...
Have a fun evening...
Surie
+KINDERKRAFTS I think you need to iron to press it, the heat tool alone will shrink the plastic and not adhere it.
Lindsay, would this method work if I had some pretty fabric I wanted to use as a background on a card?
can you do this same napkin technique on a mixed media paper such as a dylusions journal page? or is that paper too thin? Thanks.
Just an f.y.i. I bought the same sparkle pen at Michaels just last week. I love it.
