In this video, I’m going to share the napkin technique with you that if you haven’t tried yet, you will LOVE! And no, you won’t get wrinkles and you don’t need cling wrap! I saw a talented crafter who shared this method on her channel but placed the napkins on drinking coasters instead of a card panel.
If you want a more in-depth detailed version of this napkin technique, check out Iveta Ziedina of Dainty Gifts. Her channel is filled with lots of tutorials of gorgeous decoupage work that you might like. The napkin technique Iveta shares is here: • HOW TO APPLY NAPKIN WI...
I wanted to try this method on card stock and try to get the same smooth results. I’m hooked! It’s a bit on the time-consuming side meaning you have to wait for the card stock to dry once finished, but it’s so worth the wait. The results are super smooth-it almost looks like you have card stock with an image from your napkin and it has this beautiful velvet like texture.
If you want to check out some napkins that don’t require a major investment to have many of the same kind, search the term “Decoupage Napkins” in Etsy. There are so many vendors selling them in packets with several designs. You will have a blast looking at all the options! The Teflon bone folder and non-stick scissors I use in the video can be found here:

    Non-stick scissors: amzn.to/3424BsA
**The Multi-Purpose Adhesive Spray I used is from Dollar Tree: www.dollartree.com/beacon-val...
**Honestly, you can certainly put 3 parts water to 1 part glue--you need VERY little glue to make this technique work. :)

This napkin technique is so much fun! it's like you are making your own gorgeous card stock--just from decorative napkins! I hope you take a moment to visit me on Instagram as well. Can't wait to see you there! @kali9designs is how to find me! What do you think of this technique? Will you try it? Hope you are all having a great day!

Very pretty. I know this is an “older” video, but it rolled through my auto play. I wanted to suggest, if you lightly mist the opposite side of your cardstock with water before you do your glue side, it will help prevent so much warping. I do it with watercoloring and it works like a charm. I also flatten them out, if needed, with my laminator (make sure to use a carrier sheet). Again, TFS! 😊

I love these. I used to enjoy decorating things with napkin art - bags, cards - I even made a border for a cotton top once (it washed fine until the glue finally gave out after a couple of summers, so I cut off the border & had it like a crop top). Anyway, you've revived my interest - I haven't made cards for years. Thank you 💖

This video is 2 years old but it just popped up in my feed. I’ve seen a number of napkin techniques but yours has got to be the best. I’ve love the way you explain things. I’ve subscribed and and liked look forward to watching more videos.

How do you cut the napkin adhered card stock to make a card front panel? Rotary cutter, scissors, guillotine cutter? I don’t want to ruin it after putting all that work into it. Your cards are gorgeous!

I waited until it was completely dry. I’m a fan of guillotine trimmers, so that’s what I used. Always nice and crisp results! 🙂

I can understand why the floral napkin warped so badly. When you wet the napkin and smooth it, the tissue stretches slightly. When it goes on the card stock and dries, it shrinks.

Thank you, Kathya! Atop these cards, did you put a layer of anything? I've out off making the napkin technique because I thought one needed to put a layer of glitter or sealant?

I didn’t put anything on top. This dried beautifully and no extra work was needed! 🥰

to get rid of the warping you can just put the same amount of glue on the back side of the card. I do the same process with paint too..

Can I use modge podge with water for the glue? I keep buying cute napkins but I haven’t made cards cuz I’m not exactly sure how to do it.

Hi Suzanne! I’ve never tried it with Mod Podge. If the product is on the liquid side rather than a paste, I think it would work beautifully. No need to go out and buy more glue. I say use what you have and experiment! Let me know how it goes! 🥰

    Beautiful cards!!!
But I don’t understand why you’d go thro all that mess & work when you can just use saran wrap as the adhesive?
On cardstock that buckles, I run it thro my die cut machine in a sandwich & that helps alot.

I hear you. I just didn’t want to fuss with plastic wrap and dealing with an iron. I was just playing around with this technique since I saw another TH-cam creator demonstrating it. Thank you for watching, Debbie! 😍🥰

No offense. I'm sure you're wonderful, but I'm already subscribed to way too many card making channels. I'm not familiar with your cards & I have never seen one of your videos. I'm not subscribed to you, so why am I getting push messages about your posts? I don't know if You Tube is doing this on their own, but I really can't handle any more You Tube videos. If you have a way of stopping this, I would greatly appreciate it. Best of luck to you. The cards at the beginning of the video were lovely. I didn't watch the whole thing.
