I'd rather have a hot hatch. Can't stand large bulky vehicles that take up more room than some peoples house (in some parts of the world), guzzles energy(ICE or EV), goes through consumables like nobody's business (tires, brakes, etc), is dangerous to any other vehicle it may have an impact with, costs twice as much as the average vehicle, and you can't find a parking space for. YUK! There should be motorcycles and hot hatches, and nothing else. Safe for everyone, even the motorcycle rider.
For my needs, the KIA Telluride. The interior space is greater in Telluride. I only need 5000lbs of towing capacity and the tech and fit & finish is comparable. However, if true 4 wheel drive and more towing was needed, I would opted for the Jeep. I did go from a 2012 Grand Cherokee to a 2021 Telluride EX AWD Prestige package with factory installed towing. Just my input.

Put them both on lifts (Jeep and Kia) - the engineering and materials used difference is astounding - the Kia is like a kids plastic toy compared to the Jeep’s Dewalt pro tool. One can tackle the Rubicon trail. One couldn’t tackle a Quebec pot hole. Not hard to guess - trail rated badge is not for poseurs.
I just bought one of these in the limited trim, so nice. Probably the only vehicle I've owned where people ask me about my car, tons of people are clearly pretty excited about this refresh.

The bigger the SUV, the more ungainly it appears - but not the Jeep Grand Cherokee L. I like the overall looks of the newest Jeep, it carries all my favorite "Cherokee" design ques in a larger vehicle that doesn't look like a cargo van. Great review. I was originally looking at Telluride and Palisade, and then I drove this…it’s on a whole different level. If you just need a grocery hauler and go on occasional road trips and don’t car too much about overall luxury/ride quality, the Telluride/Palisades will fit the bill. This thing, especially in the higher end trims, will compete more with the Land Rover Discovery, X7, etc…and when you start optioning those others, the Jeep is a bargain.
I am really happy that Jeep is really leaning into the luxury with the new grand cherokee. I guess having the wrangler and gladiator helps since they are able to keep the hard-core off road and luxury models separate.
Good review and test drive video of this new generation 5th Jeep Grand Cherokee L. Nice off roading courses which wasn't an issue with this Jeep. Usually a 3rd row seating SUV would do an OK job off roading, but this Jeep Grand Cherokee L did an excellent job on the off road courses I've seen in this video and other You Tube channel videos. In this video it performed well going over rocks while the rocks are wet. Not many third row seating mid-size SUVs can do that. For this new generation 5th generation Jeep Grand Cherokee L right outta the gate will be six trim levels for availability. From the base trim to the high tier trim there will be the Laredo, Altitude, Limited, Overland, Summit and Summit Reserve. I currently have the third generation Jeep Grand Cherokee in the Limited trim and I have intentions on getting the Jeep Grand Cherokee L. However, I'm not going to get the first year of the new generation. I'll get the second year of the new generation so that it'll give me more time to put some money aside for it and also couple more standard features will get added. When the time comes for me to get it I'll get it in the Overland trim nicely equipped with the legendary 5.7 liter HEMI V8 engine. Based on pictures along with videos I've seen, the overall interior of the Overland, Summit and Summit Reserve trims looks....GRRREAT!! The interior from those three trim levels will give the interiors from the Cadillac XT6, Lincoln Aviator, Acura MDX, Mercedes GLE, BMW X5, Lexus RX 350L and Infiniti QX60 a run for their money.
This Jeep Grand Cherokee L is a nice SUV. It took Jeep quite some time to design this 5th generation Jeep Grand Cherokee L, but as we can see the long wait for the 5th generation is worth it because both the exterior and interior looks great! Not only that there's a lot of nice n comfy features available across the trim levels. Historically, the Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles have a host of trim levels for buyers to choose from and the same can be said for this 5th generation Jeep Grand Cherokee. Is this Jeep Grand Cherokee L a new leader for the third row seating mid-size SUVs? I would say yes. Yes in terms of engine choices available now along with later on, the off roading capabilities, the nice n comfy features, storage space, comfy third row seating area and best in class towing capability with 6,200 pounds for the V6 engine along with 7,200 pounds for the V8 engine.
$67K and no head up display??? Palisade and Telluride have it available in the upper $40's. Problem with most SUV's these days is finding them on the lot.
What about A/C for 2nd and 3rd row? I’m on my 5th Grand Cherokee looking at the L. My WK2’s were nice but only down side was 2nd row A/C lacking especially in Arizona. As our family grew my wife was forced to switch to a Sienna S Sport model (which I hate driving) but the A/C and kid carrying beats my WK2 hands down. Considering the new L once they hit show rooms if the 3rd row had decent A/C air flow.
It’s crap… I bought a Cherokee and it’s just bad. Burns oil like crazy and causes the engine to shut down randomly. A hose that regulates the heat went out and it costs over 1k to change. Only the dealerships can do it. There’s a lot more crap that went out within the first year. They look nice but break fast… the company doesn’t give support or help buyers… it sucks.
Been good to me for the last 3 jeeps. 2015 cherokee trailhawk, sold at 67k miles to get a bigger 2019 grand cherokee trailhawk with the hemi. Also have a 2017 wrangler that has been great driving from the east coast to death valley, and through the Canadian Rockies in the winter. Just oil changes and tire rotations and whatever recall pops up. No regrets and will probably buy more jeeps in the future!
Excellent review. I watched it before making a decision and I brought home my Jeep Grand Cherokee L Overland the other day! Your review is spot on but any of the few issues are so minor for me - Jeep really nailed this one. It is simply amazing. And regarding the third row, you're also spot on. I'm 6'1" and 280 and fit back there adequately. Would I want to be back there for hours? Probably not, but it would be doable and for shorter trips it's totally fine. Also the luxury group options are really nice, i initially thought they might be a bit more than I needed but it really does feel like more like a luxury brand.
I know of 8 people that returned the new shape and opted for the previous shape. I dont think it was time to retire the previous shape. Just yet. I too opted for the previous shape. I prefer the front end and there is much more after market. All are bran new jeep grand cherokees and after driving the new shape we were in agreement the new shape is not as rugged looking as the previous. The new shape looks more for an executive look a suit type person thats the best way i can describe the feel of the new shape. But Jeep grand cherokee none the less i guess you could use the its a jeep thing.

Vehicle depreciation is very low. That is the cost you need to worry about since that is what affects your net worth. In addition cars are lasting a long time if you provide reasonable care.
Shiny piano black plastic on the dash, screen surround ruins the premium vibe. Looks out of place on an otherwise gorgeous interior. The V6 is working too hard on something this heavy and the V8 is a bit of coin ($60k with 4WD). Wish the 5.7L was standard considering the objective of this vehicle
My friend has a brand new cheap about two years old he's retired and is repaired his air conditioning four times being in his 80s in California desert he needs his air conditioning for survival unless it's a sixty to seventy percent Improvement reliability it also shows the default don't know how to fix it or don't want to fix it on warranty let's just wait until it's expired and then replace it all once
Nice looking vehicle, but still concerned about the long-term reliability of the Grand Cherokee. The Grand Cherokee has been notorious for electrical issues, but not quite as bad as the Range Rover.
Reliability and quality has not been number one with Chrysler vehicles. I would wait for next year's models. This will be used for those in the car rentals and limousine businesses in the inception to see how they will do.

You don’t change great styling. This car looks more muscular and athletic then all the foreign car manufacturers like BMW, Mercedes, Lexus. Actually it’s a timeless look that will never look out dated like so many of the other car manufacturers.
I dont know. I wouldnt get one of these unless it was a Summit or Reserve. At that points you're competing with the mid size 2 row Germans. I think the Summit's interior is actually of higher quality than Audi Q7 (rubber dash.. seriously?) and X5. But you're getting a loaded to the gills model with the Jeep. There's really no reason to get the German brands over this other than badge appeal and door THUNK sound.

The GC is actually pretty good in this aspect because it was built on the same platform as the old Mercedes M class. The door seals were also revised to give a more solid think around 2017. Still not as good as the new Audis.
You fail to recognize that germans have better warranty, power, performance, and efficiency. Premium german brands get you 4yr/50k mi wtty and brand loaner vs 3yr/36 knki and enterprise rent a car. Next, power. Their v6s are at least 330 hp, and 0-60 in low-mid 5 second range, while sipping on 19-26 mpg of premium. Jeep's 5.7 hemi with propel only to 6.5 sec 0-60 and very thirsty.
@@k-man-dude and you fail to recognize that people who can actually afford the German competition gets a brand new one every 3 years. The Germans know this and they're catering to the lease market. The only buyer that matters is the first owner. That's why shit starts going bad quickly after the warranty period with their 10k mile service intervals. So warranty means squat. The Jeep will be heck of a lot cheaper to maintain and that hemi will out last 2 German turbo six banger turbos. Have you driven a Grand Cherokee with a 5.7 and the ZF? I had one for 3 years on lease. It's a much smoother and luxurious power train suited for a heavy car than any six cylinder turbo. Right now I actually have a 2021 SQ5. The power train is not what I would call luxurious. You get nothing, then BAM! A huge jerk of power. The power train in the jeep was a ton smoother and the torque is always there in an instant. You can drive it as smoothly as your right foot demands. Not so the the German 6 banger. The dash and door cards a are significant step below the WK2 GC Overland and summit is material quality, nevermind this WL. It just looks cheap in a $63k Audi. It's the same rubber crap you'd find in a VW. The MLB Evo platform is quite stunning though, which was the main draw for me. Crazy good ride/handling balance.

I own a 9yr old x5 that bought as a cpo 6 yrs ago and would absolutely do it again. Warranty is very important because you can buy a used or a cpo one at a discount and still be covered under factory wtty. People that spend 70k on a vehicle do not really concern with long term maintenance cost, they have a different mindset. This jeep is made on a brand new Alpha Romeo derived platform amd its long term costs are unknown either.

The Jeep will be heck of a lot cheaper to maintain and that hemi will out last 2 German turbo six banger turbos. Have you driven a Grand Cherokee with a 5.7 and the ZF? I had one for 3 years on lease. It's a much smoother and luxurious power train suited for a heavy car than any six cylinder turbo. Right now I actually have a 2021 SQ5. The power train is not what I would call luxurious. You get nothing, then BAM! A huge jerk of power. The power train in the jeep was a ton smoother and the torque is always there in an instant. You can drive it as smoothly as your right foot demands. Not so the the German 6 banger. The dash and door cards a are significant step below the WK2 GC Overland and summit is material quality, nevermind this WL. It just looks cheap in a $63k Audi. It's the same rubber crap you'd find in a VW. The MLB Evo platform is quite stunning though, which was the main draw for me. Crazy good ride/handling balance.
@@WHERESSS i dont see a connection but rather focus on value at hand. A loaded GC L is pushing up 65+ k price tag. The people that can spend that much on a vehicle can also afford a german. It may be a 5k-10k more depending what you want, but the notion is its the same customer. Not all germans are duds maybe thats why you are driving one yourself? I own a 9yr old x5 that bought as a cpo 6 yrs ago and would absolutely do it again. Warranty is very important because you can buy a used or a cpo one at a discount and still be covered under factory wtty. People that spend 70k on a vehicle do not really concern with long term maintenance cost, they have a different mindset. This jeep is made on a brand new Alpha Romeo derived platform amd its long term costs are unknown either.

Looks like a Cadillac mixed with a Ford edge....not fan of the look. Defenetly not made for younger clients....and defenetly not an off road vehicle lol why would anyone want to use this to go off road ?
This is "heavier"? It's actually hundreds of pounds lighter than previous gen. This video is just crappy.
