I’ve got the 60w stage, had it for about three years and certainly not planning to part with it. If anyone is still wondering- it works great with pedals and responds very well
First off Great Demo ....Overall: This Roland Blues Cube Hot amp is everything it’s advertised to be. I have always been a Fender tube amp guy. I purchased this amp and a Fender Blues Jr IV within a week of each other to compare the two for home use.Well I hate to say it and to my surprise the Fender Blues Jr IV I sent it back for a refund. The tone of the Blues Jr is very good over all but the issue is when you try to play at lower levels for home use. It just loses a lot of its tone and character at these levels. The Roland Blues Cube Hot on the other hand does not loose any of it’s tone at lower levels. It’s consistent with tone levels set on the .5 or 1/2 watt setting the 5 watt setting the 15 watt or the 30 watt, It just plain rocks the tone across the board and has it in spades. The EQ ability of the Bluest Cube Hot amp is really good and was more precise than the Fender Blues Jr. The Reverb on the Blues Cube Hot is also very good and very usable. In summery, to my ears at the the end of the day my conclusion was after playing both amps back to back for an afternoon of playing I just preferred the Blues Cube Hot to the Blues Jr IV. Also to be honest I can not tell by the tone ore the feel and response of the Roland Blues Cube Hot that it’s not a valve amp. With that said I was a bit skeptical of all that was being said about Rolands Tube Logic amps but not anymore. Roland did a fantastic job and I am sold on this little amp for my needs.Oh Ya...also the Blues Cube Hot it can get very loud as loud or louder than the Blues Jr IV. It also takes pedals with no issues. Also the Blues cube was modeled after a tweed style amp not a hot rod series Blues Jr. Keep this in mind when comparing it to a Fender Blues Jr. I call it like I see it and with that said I am glad that I am not a tube snob. I do hands down love Fender tube amps but if I had turned my noise up to the Blues Cube Hot amp I would have missed out on a great little quality amp for my needs.
Thanks for this comment. I've ordered a blues cube hot based off this as I mostly play at home. I have a vox ac4c1-12 which sounds nice at low volume but kind of begs to be pushed harder. Looking forward to recieving the cube!
Roland isn't exactly a mom and pop outfit - but the Blues Cube is almost an under-the radar best-kept secret. A GREAT amp. Just try to find one used - good effin' luck. Once you have one - you don't let it go...
Great demo, thank you. I’ve had this same amp for just over 2 years now and it’s been great for my “bedroom” players needs. I use a Morley Wah and Wampler Belle in front of it and it works really well. Great channel Thanks
I have this amp and a Fender Princeton 65 re issue Ltd Edition. The Fender just and only just beats the blues cube for clean tones BUT the blues cube excells for blues tones! And it doesent need pedals to produce them...I love the Blues Cube Hot and I can see my Princeton getting sold!
@@Martin-kw2oj I ended up selling it and my other Roland and using that money to get a couple Blackstar Studio 10 amps. I’m happier with the two tube amps but that’s just me.
I asked that to the Boss_us account on instagram. They answered that - as they started with the bigger brothers up in the line, the President of Roland Co. Yoshi Ikegami wanted a blues cube that had a minimum of components in the signal chain to give the purest tone. They kept that feature just in the Artist versions. I was really upset since after two weeks of watching all demos I was able to, of the RBC's and others, I had decided I would get the Stage. The artist - the one with all the features, but really all- is 33% more expensive than the Stage, and I believe 100% more than the hot. Damn!
This amp was originally made in Japan. ..not sure if they still are(?) You can't compare with Japanese quality. It competes ,and in many cases, even beats USA quality for a bit less in price.
I watch all your great vids. I like Roland. I toured with a Bolt 60 for years. It was a tube hybrid. It had the presence of a Boogie with a nice tube preamp section, the clean channel was like a Jazz Chorus... this amp looks like a more modern version, without the troublesome tube circuit. Great video!
Hi Brett, I see the FX8 in your floor. Do you have any intentions to get an AX8 and review it? I was very curious to see if the tones you can get out of it are close to the original AxeFX since the DSPs are a little weaker.
ncoyouth, if I'm not mistaken that's an LC30 (2) which is 30W of all valve power. Great cleans but loud as hell. I sold mine after buying a Blues Cube Hot. I just could practice at home with the LC30 but at 0.5W the Blues Cube is just perfect when I'm escaping the family.
Tones are awesome. Definitely the best demo of Roland Blues Cube Hot. What do you think if BOSS Katana 50 or 100 can come anywhere close to this sound? Thanks
Handles pedals really really well, I run a keeley compressor, j Rockett archer, hermida zendrive, cmatmods deeelay and cmatmods chorus through the front of mine and it sounds superb 👍
Hey Brett, in your opinion, do you like this over the Boss Katana 100? They are similar in price, and I was really on the fence between the two as a nice Solid State amp.
Chris Saintmire I don't like the sound of my Katana when turned up loud the top end gets out of control and you can't dial it back without destroying your tone. Love it for playing at home though.
Would have been nice to hear some notes played on a humbucker guitar as well to determine if you can get a bit more creamy distortion out of this baby. With single coils it's a bit coarse, which is of course true also for most classic tube amps that this amps is modelled after. Another common weakness for ss amps is that they don't take overdrive and distortion pedals very well, so a test of that would also have been a nice inclusion in this demo. Else the amp sounds amazingly good, expeciella that clean on the verge of breaking up jangly sound. That can most often just be achieved with a true tube Fender amp. It seems a bit overpriced though, since you get an al tube Fender Blues Junior for not much more money.
+1 for a demo with a few distortion or drive pedals, since that is where most tube simulation and modeling seems to fail. Hopefully i will be positively surprised 😆
Shane Gelven FX loops aren’t that important for this type of amp. It’s fine just running it old school in the front you’ve gotta remember a lot of great music was played on amps without fx loops. I’ve got loops on nearly all my amps and to be honest I’m getting to the point where I feel it’s just a gimmick.
i can fault it it sounds much better when you leave that stupid gizmo off the tone boost dont know why they bother with that crap just impares the overall sound of a great amp must say that amp really turns me on nice vid cheers
Seriously? Maybe you missed his wall of high end tube amps. If you have five Mercedes Benz autos, you don't need a Skoda sedan copy no matter how good it is.
I'm not convinced. First off asking $500 is too much for this solid state amp. For 30 watts too? Sorry, can't be realistically justified. Perhaps if I ever get around to seeing it in person my attitude will change, but for $300 I probably would have bought sight unseen.
Great playing, but after the whole "waza amp" pricing nonsense a lot of players myself included are really turned off by Roland/boss products & sterile tone.Definitely not taking anything from this great channel & player reviewer just my opinion....your playing is great as usual but the Roland products I'll never spend $ on again
Brett, have never seen you give a bad review so hard to take you seriously. Your playing style is not exactly subtle and makes everything sound the same anyway. This amp is actually very ordinary compared to any tube amp. A very expensive practice amp at best.

Now that is a review and some sick playing sir. Respect!

The Tele pairs nicely with the Blue Cube Hot. Such a sweet sounding amp, at least from what I hear in my earphones.
That's a helluva Tele you got there, fellah.

That's great to hear. I played a Princeton in store and my conclusion was that it wasn't worth getting rid of my cube for!
Great demo. Liked that you pushed it. Also impressed with the vintage look to the video.. matched the amp!
I have the blues cube hot boss drive special. After seeing this video I'm getting this amp too
I love this review cuz I just purchased a Blues Cube 30 for $20 on Craig's List.
If you get tired of it I'll give you 10 bucks for it! :}
I love your demo ..
If I had any buyer's remorse for ordering the Blues Cube Hot, Brett destroyed them with this killer demo.
I know I'm late but how is the amp in your opinion?

That amp rocks!!
Just accidently brought one on an eBay auction, 125£ ? Way less than half price. Looking forward to it arriving, hope he posts it.
Great demo, great amp, you really got this amp sounding a lot better than those Andertons boys😮
Ahh that tele looks nice!
Really good sound, I just don't understand why they decided not to put a fx loop in it ?

The odd thing is, the drive sounds better here than Boss's drive pedals!

Very nice amp ... just my cup of tea (;-))
Great Demo ... thanks a lot!

Amp envy. I'm currently running a Boss GP-10 into an Alto TS212, so same achievable sound in theory but nowhere near the volume I'd hoped.
Great playing and great review
Killer licks man!!! Just needed to know can I connect higher watt Amp Head with Blues cube hot???
Nice, Thanks so much! 'Getting one...

could you hookup a cabinet with 2- 8
ohm speakers to it??
maybe you could try this with some diff od pedals
What Tele is this? Not a Fender...Pickups?
Been looking at these amps great ballsy review I cant believe you got 10 dislikes.
Was there any bad points. Cheers
Hey Brett...how does it respond to pedals? I'm thinking this with a high gain pedal would make for a ripping rig. Loud enough to gig with?
I'm more curious to see if this amp will handle various types of pedals ???
Handles pedals really really well, I run a keeley compressor, j Rockett archer, hermida zendrive, cmatmods deeelay and cmatmods chorus through the front of mine and it sounds superb 👍
So how does it do with pedals?? Does it handle them reasonably well as a tube amp would??
Either you have a very hot tele my amp just isn't quite as dirty 😂 then again, I do be trippin' Greatest review and demo on TH-cam bro
