  • The Roland Blues Cube Hot is one of my favourite modern "vintage voiced" amps to play with. So, here's finally a video I did talking about the concept behind the amp and some of my experience using it. Think American Tweed tone :) Video produced for RAP Distribution Sdn Bhd.

    Great demo and explanation sir! Hard to find good gear demos where the artist keeps the tone so clean. Thank you, I've added the BCH30 to my gear wish list because of this fantastic demo!!

      Thank you! Yeah, Blues Cube really excels in that break up / semi dirty tones which is what I wanted to show. Really great dynamic amp

    Fantastic video and demo! Thank you Mr Wong.
    When I realised this amp was made in Japan I knew it had to be good. I know from experience that the quality from Japan has always been great from the mid 1980s when we had Tokai & Japanese Squiers and this amp extends the ingenuity. I'm SO glad they have this amp now since it's lighter and far more reliable. I've just ordered one after watching your video.

      Thanks and I’m glad you liked the video! Actually the amp is made in Malaysia from what I know. Of course design and R&D is in Japan. But really, touch response and sounds are quite remarkable! Hope you’ll enjoy your purchase!

    Nice demo Mr. Wong! I've got mine recently, absolutely love it. The only thing that surprises me is the volume knob, extremely responsive I'd say. Could be the Seymour Duncan 59 HB or the Fender Wide Range HB, but it sound really 'muddy', turning up the volume. So I try to keep that down, and play a bit more with the master. Hope that makes sense, I'm not really experienced in the world of electric guitars and amps, not yet... Anyway, the demo was helpful, thanks a lot!

      Hi there! Thanks for checking out my video! Glad you’re loving the amp! Yeah with humbucker pickups you could set the volume on the amp lower for more clean headroom. Use the master volume to bring up the level to taste. You may wanna try playing with your guitar’s volume knob to get different levels of drive... this is where the blues cube excels in! The muddy sound is quite characteristic of the tweed era amp tones when it is over driven... like Neil Young’s overdriven sounds... Have fun with the amp :)

    LK, do you know how this amp compare the the Vox ac10 c1?

    • @LKWong
      @LKWong  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi alan, firstly the Vox has a 10” speaker as opposed to the Blues Cube Hot having a 12”. The smaller the speaker, typically you’d have less bass response and more mids. Also, the Vox has a very distinctive chime-y and jangly sound that’s great for certain music. The Blues Cube does chime but very different to the Vox. It’s based loosely on more of a Fender tweed amp sound. Typically if you’d crank the drive up it gets slightly fuzzy. The Blues Cube has built in reverb and a USB port for recording purposes as well. The Vox seems more vintage styled which is cool too. I hope that explains the differences enough :)
