I just bow down to all the members of Brilliant Classic who all made it possible for me to feel ecstatic this Sunday. Really more than transcendental these dimensions are!
There are no superlatives in terms of adjectives to express my feelings about all this n a rather what both these geniuses has given to the whole lot of world is of immeasurable depth which really can't be expressed through words!
Interestingly enough, that artwork and this opera both prove along with pre 1948 maps that the land we call today "israel" was actually PALESTINE, and other maps show the jews were living in AFRICA, but the USA decided to get invoved and meddle in other countries' affairs and we were involved in creating israel on palestine lands, and that is why we and they still have so many problems to this day, they should have stayed in africa, we ALL would have been better off!

I sang June 2021 and November 2021 the cantata "The ways of Zion do mourn" which shares the music of all the first part. No surprise that he could compose this work in one month... A beautiful work, indeed.
Händel never let finished pieces go to waste. The Ways of Zion do Mourn was the funeral anthem for Queen Caroline of Ansbach and is used for period setting of the death of Joseph, the beginning the trials if the Israelites in Egypt.

I'm sure in Handel's time the performers would have made something more of the final few bars, instead of a landing on a final thud, resulting in the audience not knowing if the work is over, or if there's more to be heard.
I cannot quite work out if it's performed on period instruments. If not, it sounds unusually convincing and acceptable. And by the way, who painted that picture?

A brillant live performance by orchestra and chorus. The soloist and chorus' English diction was totally on point.
If anyone is interested in the artwork, it’s called “Israel in Egypt” by Edward Poynter (1836 - 1919).
