Me, a dane, am planning a massive road trip through all of the us mainland states (48). I will be departing around 2024 or 2025. This video has just fueled my excitement, and made me realise that, America truly is the most beautiful country on earth. There is just so much culture and beauty there. Wish me luck :)
When you reach native lands such as Navajo nation, choctaw, etc there might be little to no signal so be prepared to bring a map in case google/ apple maps don’t work
For me a great but of the fun is the planning. Ok, so far, the plan and the reality tend to be different, but always a great joy. I’ve taken a few road trips in America and I can confirm it’s the great country on Earth. There’s simply no place like it, it’s diversity is astounding, it’s people welcoming, open and honest. (Don’t tell me, there’s places you wouldn’t want to visit, save your typing, I live in England and there’s plenty of places I won’t go). I’m a firm believer that you take it with you. Be uptight, closed minded, mean and jealous, well don’t be surprised if that’s what you find. My experience tells me the people of America are wonderful, and so I proceed from there. I love to see the lower 48 in one trip! What’s your plan? As a Brit, I can only visit for 90 days under the visa wavier program. 90 days isn’t long enough to see America. I’d need 3 times that at least. What a wonderful world it is when we plan such life affirming trips. I hope you do it. Make it happen.
Good Luck. We did Charleston, SC to LA (via Savannah, Macon, Little White House, Selma, Jackson, Shreveport, Mena, Lawton, Amarillo, Palo Duro Canyon, Rte 66, Tucumcari, Albuquerque, Espanola, Pagosa Springs, Cortez, 4 Corners, Monument Valley, Page & Lake Powell, Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, Grand Canyon (Sth rim), Kingman, Oatman (in Hills on Hwy 10), Rte 66 to Hollywood, Rodeo Drive), then up Hwy 101, PCH 1, & Big Sur to Monterey, Palo Alto to Napa, back to Yosemite NP, East to Las Vegas via Death Valley, up North again via Zion, Bryce, Salt Lake City, Tetons and Yellowstone, out East to Cody, Buffalo, then onto Mt Rushmore & Rapid City, ND. Then Badlands, Wounded Knee, Nth Platte, then fast track via Kansas, Nashville, Ashville and Home. 6 weeks and 9,200 miles roughly. We were not Camping. Pacific coast highway is breathtaking. Visiting Big Sur once was my childhood dream as a small Hungarian kid. Now I live nearby and drive down there once a month. You can't get bored of the view. I recommend visitors the months of August to October. A perfect place to take sunset pictures as well.
Thanks for the advice, this is what I need when planning my next trips to America. I’m planning to drive highway 101. So August to October sounds perfect.
@@steviejd5803 My recommendation is to take 101 South and take a detour by Monterey. There you can get on Highway 1. The first couple of miles don't offer much to see, just shopping malls and sand dunes. Once you pass Monterey the view is awesome all the way down. There's a Chevron gas station on the left before you leave Monterey. Also you need to have your ID with you in Monterey county in order to purchase liquor or smokes. There's also a gas station in Big Sur but I don't think it's open 24 hours a day. Big Sur restaurants are pretty good too, some are only open on weekends though. Limekiln state park in Lucia is a good spot to have a break or spend the night. They have camping spots and fire pits too, also there's a beach access there. You have to make a reservation a couple of weeks prior because it can get very busy late Summer. Always check the road conditions too. There may be some closures due to landslides, wildfires or bridge closures. Farther South near San Luis Obispo you can get back on 101. This detour may take up to 5 hours but it's well worth it. Enjoy your trip. Be safe.
@@laszlokramer5052 Hey, thanks, that’s so kind of you. I will take a look at that route on my maps. I’m sitting here in England dreaming of sunny days and road trips in America. Thanks again for the knowledge, it’s very much appreciated 🇺🇸🏴
@@steviejd5803 You're welcome. Once in California you have to experience Highway 190 East from Olancha all the way to Furnace Creek and Zabriskie Point in Deat Valley. That will blow your mind. It's not just like any road trip it's like a voyage to Mars.
@@laszlokramer5052 Great insider knowledge, I’m so grateful. The only good thing of 2020, is that I managed to save money. So when beautiful America opens her boarders, I’m ready to go. Bring it on.
US 395 through Owens Valley offers the towering, snow-clad Sierra Nevada Mts to the west and just as high, more rounded, and drier White Mts (in the rain shadow of the Sierra) to the east, just a few miles from base to base and about 20 miles from crest to crest. Both ranges are amazing, and the contrast phenomenal. This should be #1 on the list.
Have done 8 of these listed, 5 of them within the last year alone. Nothing better than a good road trip. One of the images shown for the Million Dollar Hwy was actually a classic shot of Scenic Byway 12 in Utah, which also should have been on this list in its own spot. Did that one last year as well. I think one of the amazing remote routes through Alaska should have made this list as well.
I traveled the Million Dollar Highway in early October 2016. The scenery was awesome, it had snowed a little overnight capping the mountains around Durango and Ouray, CO.
We've been planning a US West Coast road trip for a while now and can't do it yet due to the coronavirus. We really want to soon. Thanks for keeping to inspire us! Subscribed :)
Thanks for the awesome views, cool memories and new ideas for roads I didn't know about. Driven the Kanc, Blue Ridge Parkway, Rt 66 and of course PCH (North to South is best). Need to check out the others.
The HWY 101 aka pacific HWY I drove that road more than 20 times😂and never stopped to camp or anything always just thought it was a normal road. I grew up in Washington and moved to California when I got older. I have family in California and in Washington and we would drive back and forth on this HWY, we took this HWY every time, so not only is it a scenic HWY but it also holds a lot of memories from my childhood. This HWY is always gonna remain #1 cause it brings you through the sunny coast of California the rugged coast of Oregon and the forested land of Washington. Never knew I grew up on such blessed land. The pacific coast is the place to be.
Yes. The pacific coast highway/highway 101 is like my home away from home. My dream is to live on the the coast of Oregon (central or south). So much beauty on the United States Pacific Coast. Bucket list it!
I also recommend the Iron Mountain Road in the Black hills of South Dakota, Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park, and 17 Mile Drive in Monterey California.

I absolutely love that drive. Very underrated and one of the most dramatic mountains drives in the country, especially when coming from Death Valley. Great suggestion!
The most beautiful drive in Universe is route 12 in Utah between Escalante and Boulder. I'm surprised the Trail Ridge Rd in Rockies NP was not mention.
Trail ridge is pretty nice, I would put it in the top 5 for Colorado, but having driven both Trail Ridge and the million dollar highway, the million dollar highway is on a completely different level to anything else in Colorado, well the San Juans in general are.
I live in Washington so I've been up and down the coast. Also drove #10. That is one empty road for about 300 miles from Reno to Utah. It's quite beautiful in it's own way. Spent the night in Ely. Enjoyed ourselves.
Being from Scotland, I've been lucky enough to have driven 8 of those routes over the last 20 or so years, also route 100 ( i think) in Vermont is amazing, fantastic memories 🏴🇺🇸🏴🇺🇸
The problem is that this country is so huge and beautiful that the list should have been much longer than Top 10. Many other great mentions in the comments but I’ll just add one - Lake Superior North Shore Drive (Hwy. 61) in Minnesota. It runs from Duluth, MN to the Canadian border. Gorgeous views of the lake and rugged shore, many excellent state parks full of waterfalls, trails, and beaches, a charming lighthouse, great places to eat, ships, wildlife…it’s beautiful.
Been on everyone of these roadtrips. All offered amazing sites. Just drove the going to the sun road this summer. Amazing. I would probably take the High Road to Taos off the list and give Scenic Byway 12 in Utah some props. It is the equal to all of the roads on this list. The US has some beautiful locations if you are willing to get in the car and go see them.
I keep seeing "you forgot...highway" comments, as expected. This vast country is so diverse and beautiful, there is no way to have a 'top-ten' most beautiful video. A top 100 wouldn't even be fair! Just here in Oregon, I could easily name 10 awe-inspiring drives at the top of my head. One being the scenic Columbia River Gorge Hwy. I look forward to my departure/move to North Carolina, nice and easy in a big motorhome. I know much of the trip is plain compared to these, but it's gonna be awesome especially the end result.
@@steviejd5803 Oh, thanks! I've actually been able to pay cash for some land with house in Kentucky, instead. Got here end of October. Kentucky is a hidden and underappreciated gem for people on a tight budget! I'd no idea it is this green and lovely. Similar to its neighbor, West Virginia, but with less extreme poverty. Very rural and country-like (privacy and freedom), but within an hour or few of tons of good sized cities (Louisville, Lexington, Nashville, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Columbus, St. Louis, Chicago, etc.) and tons of small to medium towns closer. Bowling Green is where my favorite car is built 😉.
@@jeladsnikpoh1289 Hey I’m so please d to hear you made the move. It sounds fabulous. I have really missed American this past year. It sounds like I’ll have to add Kentucky to my list. Thanks for your reply and best wishes from England 🏴🇺🇸
@@steviejd5803 Thanks again! Awesome to hear you're from England! Honestly, there's too much to see in many of the other 50 states to make a special trip to Kentucky. It's a peaceful foresty and pasture-filled state (probably more like rural parts of UK than any other state), but not too much excitement. We do have the largest cave in the world (Mammoth Cave state park), and the world famous Kentucky Horse Derby, and the proud American Corvette sports-car built here- but otherwise it's just easy going, mildly boring, and comparably inexpensive. Exactly what I wanted, and 2200 miles from where I came!
@@jeladsnikpoh1289 perfect. Well done you for making it happen. I’m on my journey too, paying off this house, than more travelling. I’m tempted to sell up, big profit, downsizing and getting out in this world. Ps I love the Corvette too. Back in 2019 I had great fun in a Mustang GT and later the Dodge Challenger, never had the pleasure of driving a Corvette. Fingers crossed.
There's another scenic drive worth taking on the east coast. Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park. The cool thing about Skyline Drive is the southern terminus of Skyline Drive is the northern terminus of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Start at the north end of Skyline Drive in Front Royal, VA and make it a trip all the way down to the southern end of the Blue Ridge Parkway at Cherokee, NC (or do the whole trip going north ...) If you do them both together your road trip is anchored by Shenandoah National Park in the north and Great Smokey Mountains National Park (the most visited national park in the U.S.) in the south. The combined distance is 574 miles.
I've done both Beartooth and the million dollar highway. The San Juans are still more scenic, I would go so far as to say the San Juans in Colorado might be the most scenic mountain range in the US.
I never knew about the Glenwood canyon stretch when I did a road trip from Denver to the grand canyoon and I was blown away when I passed through there
You cannot argue with PCH at the top, honestly. I have driven through 4 of these so far, with #10 really being the one I want to do the most next, but there is nothing else in the world that even comes close to PCH. Colorado would actually be my pick for second place, especially if you are driving in the early winter, with a little bit of snow falling to make it magical while not too dangerous either.
I did the PCH from LA to Monterey earlier this year. I found it really didn't live up to the hype and actually found it quite disappointing if I'm honest. I found the Tioga pass through Yosemite much more interesting. I also enjoyed the deserts of Nevada and Arizona wonderful. For a truly spectacular coastal drive you should try Europe. The entire coast of Wales is stunning, Scotland offers some amazing drives. The Wild Atlantic Way in Ireland is breathtaking. France and Italy also offer some amazing coastal drives. My next USA visit will probably be based around Colorado
v6truckervw there definitely is way too much hype about PCH yes. But I did it pre-hype on the internet. And it blew my mind. Spent an entire day just driving and stopping. The most overhyped really is the road to Hana in Hawaii for me. I’m sure Europe is nice too, just don’t know if I ever will get a chance to do it.
@@v6truckervw entirely agree re PCH. Did this on my 1st USA road trip in 2011, good but slightly disappointing considering the hype. The desert roads of Nevada and Arizona are amazing, Tioga Pass in/out of Yosemite, the I15 loneliest road. I suppose it depends what you are after. I always drive a convertible Camaro or Mustang and like the open road speed and freedom. Can’t get that on PCH sadly, way too busy. Here’s to the next trip which I am planning for 2021 if COVID allows
My honey is taking me along the PCH highway... Can't wait for that trip, I've always wanted to do that drive, being from Cali I've seen alot of the lower parts, but not norcal... It looks stunning, actually all those drives are... Great video!!
I too did this in 2015 in a Camaro convertible. One of the most memorable drives ever. A must is a stop at Middlegate, fuel and great food in the middle of nowhere then back on the gas at speeds that I won’t post here. Great memories which I will repeat someday. Only problem is I live in England so it’s not on my doorstep sadly.
my ultimate road trip would be 1) NYC to SF via the Lincoln Highway. 2) SF to SD via Pacific Coast Highway. 3) LA to Chicago via Route 66. With lots of side trips to nearby points of interest.
Been to 7 out of ten. Olympic peninsula drive in westen wa. is exquisite, but the weather is frequently bad. US 212 from Cooke City to Red Lodge Montana is very challenging, yet more stark and visually awarding than 'going to the sun'. Take your time(you will have to), and prepare yourself for northbound downward descent. This makes it all worthwhile.
About a year ago for my 16th birthday my dad and I rode our bikes down from north Humboldt down to fort bragg (highway 101/1) and if you really want the most incredible breathtaking trip of you life hop on your bike...you wont regret it
Highway 12 from Kooskia, Idaho to Lolo, Montana, along the Clearwater and Lochsa Rivers. Highway 93 from the Canadian border to Lost Trail Pass in Montana. The edge was f Glacier Park, the Flathead Valley, Flathead Lake, the Mission Mountains, the Missoula Valley and the Bitterroot Valley.
Try rt 12 in Idaho connecting Lewiston, ID to Missoula, MT. It is like the Kankamagus Hy in NH but 200 miles long. We try to do at least one 4 000 plus mile road trip every year and agree with your choices.
I remember driving through US 50 in Nevada in Sept 2018 on my way to Great basin from Lassen, It was one isolated road, plus it was night and pitch dark, Nearly overturned my car on the highway suddenly trying to avoid a crossing rabbit in night. That was big scare. But was a really serene drive,
A girl at my university put herself in a wheelchair for life trying to avoid killing a rabbit. Seriously: just flatten it, feel sad for a few seconds, and keep moving. Their entire reason for existing is to be coyote chow, anyway. For larger animals, brake firmly (do NOT panic-brake) and steer directly into the beast. It's simply self-preservation. It's only an ass-hat move if you paint its silhouette on your doors afterward.
@Vladimir_Bone Spur_tRump So you value a rabbit's life more than a human's. I have to wonder what horrific atrocities you've committed that you feel compelled to virtue posture so aggressively. Thanks for revealing what kind of person you truly are and for letting us know that your opinion cannot be taken seriously. I'm out.
You could fill this entire list with drives in Wyoming, Colorado and Utah, gotta spread the love out a little. I still stand by my assertion that the San Juan mountains in Colorado (where the million dollar highway drives through) is probably the most scenic place in the lower 48.
"Icefields Parkway" Banff/Jasper National Parks is one of the worlds most spectacular drives in the world..In a world by itself.....No drive in America comes close to this.. Did this drive in 2013 beauty beyond belief..
@@georgep.burdell7237 The sea to sky highway, the dempster highway, the trans-labrador highway, the dinosaur loop, the bella coola highway, BC highway 3, Alberta highway 40, Newfoundland highway 430, The alaska highway, the Cassiar highway Lot's of sick road tripping up here bud.
I have done many road trips throughout my life, got hooked at a very young age. I have driven each of these roads. They are all beautiful in their own unique way. Going To The Sun Road will always be my favorite, High Road To Taos would not make my top 10, Trail Ridge Road or Cascade Highway would.
Planning a motorcycle tour next year - I'll hit 3 of these in one loop: 50 across the Great Basin, Pacific Coast Highway, and Million Dollar Highway... Can't wait!
@@steviejd5803 Unfortunately no, I have not (yet!) made this trip. Between covid and a couple of other things I wasn’t able to go this year. At this point if I’m being honest with myself even summer of 2021 is looking a little iffy. But by 2022 I had better have gotten this ride in! That’s the nature of a bucket-list item though - kind of a thing you do when the opportunity presents itself. I’m not ready to kick the bucket yet so I don’t feel a lot of time pressure to make this happen. I have it planned as an 8 day, 3400 mile loop from the Colorado Springs area to run the PCH. Highlights should include: 50 through Bighorn Sheep Canyon 92 along the north rim of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison 128 through Castle Valley into Moab Crossing the Great Basin on 50 Redwoods and the drive-through tree outside Legget PCH end-to-end In the return phase I have several good options and I really haven’t picked the final route: 1 - Through Phoenix and hit Salt River Canyon and cross “Hillerman Country” up into Colorado, Million Dollar Highway, etc. 2 - Similar to 1, but break north through Sedona and catch Winslow/Rte-66, and Meteor Crater instead of the Salt River Canyon. 3 - Through Flagstaff, south rim of the Grand Canyon, Vermilion Cliffs, Marble Canyon/Lee’s Ferry, Glenn Canyon Dam/Lake Powell, Monument Valley, 4 Corners, Mesa Verde, Million Dollar Highway. 4 - Utah Parks Tour, basically a combination of 9, 89, 12, 24, and 95 across Utah going through or right past Zion National Park, Dixie National Forest, Bryce Canyon National Park, Grand Staircase/Escalante National Monument, Capitol Reef National Park, Natural Bridges National Monument, and Glen Canyon National Recreational Area. Wrapping up through Million Dollar Highway etc. If I don’t get to do PCH in 2021 I may try to make a loop out through Utah combining a couple of these options. That way when I do the “big” run out to PCH I can take a third option and would have covered 3 of the 4. And yes, before anyone mentions it, I realize just riding through doesn’t do many of these sights justice. I’ve been to a number of these individually before. The intent for the familiar places is a pass through for nostalgia/memories. The intent for the new territory is a quick recon on the way to/from PCH to see where I may want to come back to and spend more time.
@@philipstaite4775 Wow, what a fabulously detailed answer. I too feel that summer 2021 is a little iffy, although I’m hopeful and will always keep my options open. I guess the only good thing of 2020 is that I have saved up money for my next trip. I’ve trailed plenty of places in America by car, this year we are thinking of hurling a bike in Flagstaff or perhaps, Rapid City. I’m thinking 3 to 5 nights for our first trip. Just to see how we feel etc. I ride here in the UK but nothing like the wonderful roads in America. I wish you all the luck in the world, it’s sounds like you are ready to go. I’m getting out my maps to check out your route. Cheers.

Drove 600 miles on Rt. 50 from Lake Tahoe to Salt Lake City recently. Some parts are scenic, some parts just boring. Route 80 parallel to the north is a better highway, as scenic and at times, pretty lonely too.
Havent been but everything I have seen and read says to don't do the Going to the Sun road in anything other than a car or pickup. You can park and ride a small bus, that will give you more time to look and enjoy the scenery.

Last year in August, me and a few people went up half way through the PCH! It's breath taking!
2 scenic routes that definitely should be on the list:
The Independence Pass in Colorado
The Beartooth Highway in Wyoming and Montana
AWESOME VIDEOS...THANK YOU!! EXCITED ABOUT ADDING THESE TO MY TO DO LIST!! Take Care and be Safe!!
I just went to Shannandoah Nat’l Park yesterday and witnessed the Blue Ridge Mountains Firsthand!! Was a surreal experience!!
Was life old there? Older than the trees?
There are so many beautiful drives but missing the drive from Yosemite over Tioga pass cannot be forgiven.
*Nothing I love more than a road trip. Thanks for the fun video. I hope to visit and film these places on my own. New subscriber!*
I absolutely love that drive. Very underrated and one of the most dramatic mountains drives in the country, especially when coming from Death Valley. Great suggestion!
as a californian, who has done this drive couple of times, i absolutely agree!
The most beautiful drive in Universe is route 12 in Utah between Escalante and Boulder.
I'm surprised the Trail Ridge Rd in Rockies NP was not mention.
Trail Ridge is awesome
Trail ridge is pretty nice, I would put it in the top 5 for Colorado, but having driven both Trail Ridge and the million dollar highway, the million dollar highway is on a completely different level to anything else in Colorado, well the San Juans in general are.
Really amazing video! Thanks for sharing.
Ridden and moto-camped the Blue Ridge Parkway multiple times. Well worth the time to travel it...
We drove one of the most incredible roads from Wyoming to Montana and also Utah, was lovely!!
US50 Nevada America's loneliest road is a knockout. Stunning vistas as far as the eyes can see.
Could not agree more about the Beartooth Pass
I live in Washington so I've been up and down the coast. Also drove #10. That is one empty road for about 300 miles from Reno to Utah. It's quite beautiful in it's own way. Spent the night in Ely. Enjoyed ourselves.
What a wonderful it this. Spectacular video with very good shots. My congratulations.
Being from Scotland, I've been lucky enough to have driven 8 of those routes over the last 20 or so years, also route 100 ( i think) in Vermont is amazing, fantastic memories 🏴🇺🇸🏴🇺🇸
Scotland is beautiful too!
Scotland got a separate flag ? Isn’t it a part of UK ? Doesn’t it fall under union jack 🇬🇧?
@@arkarya8768 Scotland is part of the UK, but the saltire is the flag of Scotland 🇬🇧🏴
Getting ready to head out in June and hope to travel a few on our around the country trip. Have done a few of them already.
Outstanding Road Journeys.. ! Surprisingly all Fantastic Road Journeys are in America USA.. ! 👍
I5,from seattle to Portland, across Columbia River, has beatiful scean
Beautiful!! Makes me want to go on a road trip now.
100 in Vermont, the best leaf peeping route in the country!
Fall in Vermont sooo beautiful subhan allah
Going to the sun is gorgeous but so much traffic in season
wow really nice natural scenery which is an inspiration👍❤
I keep seeing "you forgot...highway" comments, as expected. This vast country is so diverse and beautiful, there is no way to have a 'top-ten' most beautiful video. A top 100 wouldn't even be fair! Just here in Oregon, I could easily name 10 awe-inspiring drives at the top of my head. One being the scenic Columbia River Gorge Hwy. I look forward to my departure/move to North Carolina, nice and easy in a big motorhome. I know much of the trip is plain compared to these, but it's gonna be awesome especially the end result.
Sounds awesome, have you started out yet? Or perhaps waiting for Spring. Good luck.
This is great.
There's another scenic drive worth taking on the east coast. Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park. The cool thing about Skyline Drive is the southern terminus of Skyline Drive is the northern terminus of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Start at the north end of Skyline Drive in Front Royal, VA and make it a trip all the way down to the southern end of the Blue Ridge Parkway at Cherokee, NC (or do the whole trip going north ...)
If you do them both together your road trip is anchored by Shenandoah National Park in the north and Great Smokey Mountains National Park (the most visited national park in the U.S.) in the south. The combined distance is 574 miles.
I am taking a 1994 cutlass supreme convertible and driving from Michigan to Nevada. I can’t wait
I've been on the high road between Santa Fe and Taos. An absolutely gorgeous place. I-15 through the virgin river gorge in Arizona is beautiful too.
The Going to the Sun Road is absolutely a must.
You left out the best road of all "Beartooth Pass Montana"
I've done both Beartooth and the million dollar highway. The San Juans are still more scenic, I would go so far as to say the San Juans in Colorado might be the most scenic mountain range in the US.
I was surprised they left off the Beartooth Pkwy. It would definitely make my top 10, probably top 3.
Beautiful ♥️..I love nature.. Amazing Views- landscape 💕
I would include the Hana HWY. Maui. The most beautiful road I've ever experienced, even more beautiful than PCH that I drove as well.
I-70 through Glenwood Canyon in Colorado? Hwy 64 along the South Rim of the Grand Canyon?
Glenwood wouldn't even make the top 10 in Colorado. Just shows you how many amazing drives there are in Colorado alone.
I never knew about the Glenwood canyon stretch when I did a road trip from Denver to the grand canyoon and I was blown away when I passed through there
I had a memorable experience driving there
You cannot argue with PCH at the top, honestly.
RT 191 Vernal,Utah to Jackson Hole,WY to Grand Teton and Yellowstone?
I didn’t go down California coast but I did Washington and Oregon and let me tell you, the Oregon coast is beautiful.
Loved your scenic routes, great video!!!
My honey is taking me along the PCH highway... Can't wait for that trip, I've always wanted to do that drive, being from Cali I've seen alot of the lower parts, but not norcal... It looks stunning, actually all those drives are... Great video!!
How about the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel linking southeastern Virginia to the eastern shore of Maryland?
I drove the loneliest road in America back in 2017 in a 2006 Ford Mustang Gt convertible. Totally worth doing if you're headed out to California.
Sounds great. Did you drive the whole road? In one go or with stops?
I too did this in 2015 in a Camaro convertible. One of the most memorable drives ever. A must is a stop at Middlegate, fuel and great food in the middle of nowhere then back on the gas at speeds that I won’t post here. Great memories which I will repeat someday. Only problem is I live in England so it’s not on my doorstep sadly.
Chukanut Drive: Bellingham to Bayview. Washington State.
What a beautyful voice....
I'm shocked but very happy the Del Water Gap was on the list.
my ultimate road trip would be 1) NYC to SF via the Lincoln Highway. 2) SF to SD via Pacific Coast Highway. 3) LA to Chicago via Route 66. With lots of side trips to nearby points of interest.
Thanks for the awesome video. Makes me want to take a road trip.
Can't wait for the PCH drive!! My honey is taking me on this drive soonish... After all the virus chaos that is....
Scenic byway 12 from Bryce National Park to Torrey Utah is one of the prettiest drives in America.
They showed Head of the Rocks Overlook on Highway 12 and said it was in Colorado!
Bill Thompson yeah they showed it while talking about the million Dollar Highway. The drive from Ouray to Durango is very beautiful also.
PCH was very, very cool to drive. Spent 13 hours driving it... right through Big Sur, too.
January 2021 a big chunk of Hwy 1 in Big Sur has slid again so the road is closed until further notice.
Wonderful videos in this Channel... 🥰👍
The Mohawk Trail in northern western Massachusetts. An awesome ride, and one of the first!
Nice compilation of other people's work. well done!
Warren Currier where’s your work?
@@MrThrock09
What's your point?
Don't you like their compilation?
Very cool informative road trip info in the USA.. I will follow this route at my next road trip thanks for sharing
Interstate 10 through New Mexico is beautiful but also very lonely, when they say fill next exit no more gas for miles, they truly mean it.
Yeeeeaaahhhh, PCH is beautiful!!!
@Vladimir_Bone Spur_tRumpAm I to understand that you're objecting to my compassion for my disabled classmate? You are a special kind of sick.
I'm out.
Driving from tucson to sedona to flagstaff is real pertty
Also Hwy 89 from Wickenburg to Prescott. Don't drive it at night.
No list of 'must see scenic routes' should exclude the Beartooth Pass running between Wyoming and Montana.
Cool info
One of the most beautiful drives I've ever been on
You could fill this entire list with drives in Wyoming, Colorado and Utah, gotta spread the love out a little. I still stand by my assertion that the San Juan mountains in Colorado (where the million dollar highway drives through) is probably the most scenic place in the lower 48.
Strongly agreed.
It's on my bucket list, also as a "must fish"!
"Icefields Parkway" Banff/Jasper National Parks is one of the worlds most spectacular drives in the world..In a world by itself.....No drive in America comes close to this.. Did this drive in 2013 beauty beyond belief..
Better than Big Sur?
Icefields is amazing, but not in the States.
Icefields and Cabpt Trail would make this list.
@@georgep.burdell7237 The sea to sky highway, the dempster highway, the trans-labrador highway, the dinosaur loop, the bella coola highway, BC highway 3, Alberta highway 40, Newfoundland highway 430, The alaska highway, the Cassiar highway
Lot's of sick road tripping up here bud.
It's on my bucket list
I have done many road trips throughout my life, got hooked at a very young age. I have driven each of these roads. They are all beautiful in their own unique way. Going To The Sun Road will always be my favorite, High Road To Taos would not make my top 10, Trail Ridge Road or Cascade Highway would.
Planning a motorcycle tour next year - I'll hit 3 of these in one loop: 50 across the Great Basin, Pacific Coast Highway, and Million Dollar Highway... Can't wait!
Please update me, did you do this trip? It sounds amazing.
Highlights should include:
50 through Bighorn Sheep Canyon
92 along the north rim of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison
128 through Castle Valley into Moab
Crossing the Great Basin on 50
Redwoods and the drive-through tree outside Legget
PCH end-to-end
In the return phase I have several good options and I really haven’t picked the final route:
1 - Through Phoenix and hit Salt River Canyon and cross “Hillerman Country” up into Colorado, Million Dollar Highway, etc.
Cheers.
Done 5 of these and visited 43 States.
Not bad for an Englishman !
Impressive. I'm Canadian and I've done 6 (I think). Saw all my own country first though.
It's obvious to all of us who HAVE driven these roads that whomever put this video together HASN'T driven any of the roads that they're praising so highly
Notable omissions
Beartooth Highway MT
CA Rt 120 from Lee Vining to Yosemite Valley
US 89 from Flagstaff to the Canadian Border
US 93 from Ketchum ID to Kalispell MT
Rt 100 VT
NY Rt 3 from Plattsburgh NY to Lake Ontario
RT 191 Vernal, Utah to Jackson Hole WY Grand Teton and Yellowstone
Drove 600 miles on Rt. 50 from Lake Tahoe to Salt Lake City recently. Some parts are scenic, some parts just boring. Route 80 parallel to the north is a better highway, as scenic and at times, pretty lonely too.
Brilliant!
Nice tips, thanks guys :)
I think Route 12 in Utah far, far surpasses the boring drive through the Florida Keys
They are on something to believe that
Can a 25 foot 88 inch wide Tiny Motor Home go on all these Drives? Thank You so much. 😊🌺
Havent been but everything I have seen and read says to don't do the Going to the Sun road in anything other than a car or pickup. You can park and ride a small bus, that will give you more time to look and enjoy the scenery.
Virtual 360° trips of these would be nice...
I hope borders will be open soon , i miss traveling to US ☹
