Racing driver Vicki Butler-Henderson, Millennial Rachael Hogg, and mum Erin Baker (REV!) are testing three of the UK's most popular big, luxury SUVs, based on how people search for them at Auto Trader.
They're looking at how easily they can fit into your lifestyle, covering practicality, connectivity, and ride and handling.
This week, it’s the turn of the Land Rover Discovery, with its new up-market styling, the spacious, safe and reliable Volvo XC90, and the premium Audi Q7.
We see how many hay bales fit in the back of these huge SUVs.

@@carholic-sz3qv the Discovery is designed to be an off-road capable vehicle as well as a luxury cruiser. The other two are designed for posers on the Cappucino strip, and are totally useless off road.

That hay test was stupid, the Volvo won because they stacked it all the way to roof whereas in the others they didn't.
The discovery can carry more than 4 hays ,the lady got too tired to load up more, lol

Sorry girls, nobody's ever going to put hay in the back of these bourgemobiles. Personally, I'd have the Lexus RX450h, because I've never likely to go off-road, like most of the potential buyers of these three. I do like the Q7, though.
So Audi is more premium, more luxurious, better ride quality, better build quality, bigger engine, more powerful, better mpg and it came last last in yor comparison ...Wake up!
This cars are no comparison. Audi Q7 rivals are Bmw x5 and Mercedes Ml

You guys counted 6-7 for the Xc90 and jusr 4 for the disco even though there was enough space to stack more above those in the disco?

What they failed to mention was the Volvo xc90 came second from bottom in what car drivers survey 2017 so actual owners aren't happy with the car, reliability and build quality poor, the Discovery didn't rate much better to fair but Land rovers never have.

Beautiful car but the range rover diesels will be plagued with oil dilution problems if used for short trips.

A great review ruined by a silly Hay test...how on earth can you say the Volvo can take 7 when you didn't even put the hay in...the other two like disco appeared also to have spare space left so why not estimate for them aswell.
The Volvo has a higher roof line you would know that if you drove all of them adults can not fit in 3rd row of any of those except the Volvo I own one
If you tried to be as honest and objectivly, as one can be....you should consider find another job. If you intentionally and consciously wanted to place the winner, then should be fine.

I like how Volvo keeps pretending it's a premium brand with its pathetic 4-pot engine selection. Also "giant mobile phone" and "easy to use" is an oxymoron in a car. *And* Rachel just sounds like she's reciting a text written by someone else. This episode is outrageous.
If you have the money and test all three and have the need for seven seats the Volvo is the most practical and best value for kit.
While I agree there's no replacement for displacement, you can't knock the T6 and T8 engines; horsepower is horsepower. Plus, a 4 cylinder allows for smaller packaging which for Volvo = larger crumble zones and even safer cars. Though none of this will matter in a few years when their entire lineup will be electric
Safety is one thing, but feeling, sound, and vibrations are another. Of course their engines are good for what they are, but there are several reasons why a premium brand should have at least V6 engines in the selection.
Aoyagi their T8 certainly won't have any vibrations it's a monster of a set up
Maybe they are a little more forward thinking than the competition - smaller 4 cylinder engines outsell the V6's, at least here in the UK plus diesel sales are in rapid decline given the ever increasing legislation against them, with some models like the Macan dropping it all together. I'm not sure why you expect a small company like Volvo with its versatile modular 3/4 cylinder engine and hybrids to develop a diesel V6 for this ever dwindling market?!

That hay bale test was just stupid... 4 in the Discovery? Nah... Just call it incapable loading of the bales... There was a ton of space left in there, could have easily matched the 7 of the Volvo if not 8.
Q7 Quattro is better than Volvo's awd. They are not the same.
Had an XC90 and got rid of it as soon as I could. Disco every time.

Why not use live pigs to measure capacity? U British have some amazingly intelligent ways to measure square liters or meters???? I am not even sure of what type of measurements u use. The world should be so glad that u "colonized" most of it. Astonishing intelligence u passed on!!!!

Well I wouldn't buy the Q7 as it's boring looking, The Discovery is ugly and not that reliable and the Xc90 came second from bottom in what cars drivers survey 2017 not many happy owners. Best to avoid all of them and buy a Toyota landcruiser.
