Why are they all so scared of it 😭 the clip of either Ophelia or Soleil grabbing a pistachio off the cake and then running away like their life depended on it is hilarious
Reminds me of when my cat is wary of something new. He approaches very slowly, reeeeaches out a paw…*smack* and RUN AWAY! 😂

and they live to be quite old. At least 20 years. Cockatoos can live upwards of 70 years.
@@ivenstorm He’s an African Grey, and their lifespan is INCREDIBLY LONG. Especially considering how well cared for Apollo is, he’s not going anywhere anytime soon.

Can confirm certain sounds bother me more than others. I can have a cockatoo scream an inch in my face and I'm fine, but if someone claps by me and I wasn't expecting it, or someone puts silverware away, it's SO jarring to me 😂

Tbh can relate, this is the reaction of my loved ones when I cook. My highlights is an ex bf sitting on the toilet for 2 hrs after eating food I made, and my mom's hubby having to go to the ER for stomach ulcers the next day. (Two different times.)

@@kamonskye240 1. With the bf case, I learned that "lactose free" cheese usually still has traces of it, and very lactose intolerant ppl can't even handle the trace amounts. Didn't know that before 🙃 2. With mom's hubby, it was just accidentally wayyyy too spicy (skill issue with quantities), but he still ate so I wouldn't be sad 🥺
This video is utterly charming! You go to so much effort to make and decorate a birthday cake for Apollo, and he’s scared of it - but the girls are braver - and Apollo likes the “paper” his presents are wrapped in. Good show, Tori and Dalton!
Apollo was waiting for someone to cut the cake. This brought back memories of our youngest's first birthday. Took a bit of coaching, but once he realized what it was, there was great joy and happiness. You guys are amazing parents, happy birthday to Apollo. 👍

You are right that if you had included him in the construction/process, he would have been all in. I did an article about that.
Another technique that can work but isn't as reliable is for evryone to sit down and pretend you are eating it and absolutely loving it...while ignoring him. They get quite curious -- even jealous -- if they are left out. 😉

I tried something simpler for my now 2 year old Indian Ringneck a couple weeks ago and couldn't get him to care about the cake/bread part at all, just the toppings. It's comforting to know I'm not really alone there!

Amazon has raw unsalted no-shell pistachios. They aren't cheap but that's pretty much all pistachios anyway. Happy Birthday Apollo!!!
