    You Chanel has re kindled my interest in church
    I’m a Catholic, but I have not darkened the door in a few years. I have smoked a pipe on and off for years, and I find your content inspiring

    As a fellow recent convert to the Catholic Church from an evangelical background, I can confirm that the feeling about our upbringing is pretty common if not universal. I don't at all regret or repudiate my protestant upbringing. In fact, I appreciate it more. I recognize that though there was some doctrinal error (much of that I recognized then), there was and is so much good. It was just missing things.

    Dr Harrelson was one of my professors at liberty. Must be contagious because I converted to Catholicism while an online student at liberty. I converted several years ago, but there is something about history and studying Christianity that points us history buffs to Catholicism. History 491 capstone seminar. Wrote about the mindset of the holy martyrs during the great persecution.

    Kadesh I just found your conversation with Dr Harrelson a man I really admired before he converted!
    I am a convert of almost 50 years thanks to marring a Catholic girl and going to the SSPX from the beginning. The rest is history that is where I have stayed and thrived.
    I am glad to find your channel & have subscribed & looking forward to watching your older videos & will chime in when I think I have something to share.
    Looking forward to seeing and hearing about your pipes which I have been an on & off again pipe smoker since college in the early 70s .
    Thanks for the great interview & keep up the good work with pipes & the Church!👍👍🙏🙏

    @24:07 Smooth french inhale! Wow, as a decade long cigars/pipe smoker, I retrohale pipes and cigars, probably every 4th or 5th puff, but that impressed me. I don't see many people doing that.

    This was an excellent discussion and I agree wiith professor Alan. Im a spirit-filled protestant but have attended an evangelical catholic church and have catholic friends who are spirit filled. Satan wants to divide the church and for a great while, many folks have gone along with his plan.

    Amazing content! One thing among many that is unique: the reverse retro-hale that Kadesh does. Almost like a circular breathing of smoke from the mouth to nose. Very impressive! Haven't seen anyone else do that. Hope to meet you someday Kadesh and share a bowl and conversation!

    Howdy! Got turned onto Dr. Alan by my new interest in pipes; and he's so much more than just a pipe man, a very interesting fellow indeed. I'm Orthodox, and as a convert that means (probably, but not necessarily) I'm something of an amateur historian myself, so I find his ideas much to the cut of my jib. I do find it funny that you can become Catholic in less than a year though, haha! Blessings upon you all.

    I don't ascribe to any denomination, but I've been a believer in God and the Lord Jesus as long as I can remember. A book I came across almost 40 years ago, while living in the USA, sealed my faith forever. The book is called The Urantia Book and is a most enlightening revelation. I've met both a Catholic priest and a Catholic nun who had been reading the book for years by the time I came across it.
    I am interested in pipes and pipe tobaccos, as well, and enjoy the videos that both of you are creating. Keep up the good work!😊

    I am not a Catholic nor desire to be. However, I love what brother/Dr. Harrelson said about the SPIRIT OF GOD being what draws folks in--not the band or the homily. Much respect to you both. Thank you so much for the conversation you shared with each other and the world. God bless you both.

    Greetings and blessings on Gaudete Sunday 2023 to everybody!
    Oh Yes! Dr. Alan Harrelson, thanks be to God for you and your questions:
    Were there Christians before the protests against the Church?
    "Memorare" prayed for all those reading and commenting!
    Faithful, would you please pray for those who do not desire nor seek the Kingdom of God which is the Catholic Church on earth?
    Love how some souls don't want to be part of the one, holy, catholic, apostolic Church!
    Yet, according to Catholic Exorcist priest, there are no non-Catholics in heaven!
    Mother of God-Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us! Sunday, December 17, 2023

    This tittle had me from the start. C.S. Lewis said the average believer would be surprised at how enraptured their soul would become with a good piece of theology and a pipe. Paraphrasing but essentially yes.

    Feeling a light bit of elitism in this interview. A knowledge of history is not necessary to be a God fearing/living individual.
    The implication seems to be here that those religions are substandard which care more about the Bible (which, curiously, isn’t present in any Catholic Church btw) than the history of Christianity.
    So much for humility and grace I guess…

    • @CatholicPipes
      @CatholicPipes  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Part 1. A knowledge of history is not necessary to be a God fearing/loving individual.
      You are correct. However history is invaluable for several reasons. On a larger scale history edifies scripture and can help one better understand what is being said. On a equally large scale history can help us to better understand the faith by examining the faith and belief of those who were in living memory of the apostles.
      So while history is not necessary for salvation it sure helps understanding salvation. I'd trust the writings of 1st and 2nd century Christians over the personal interpretation of scripture from a Bible Alone Christian.
      Substandard is a bit harsh I'd personally say "lacking the fullness of truth".
      Assuming you are Christian would you be offended if a Buddhist called you elitist for believing Jesus Christ is the way the truth and the life?

    • @drewbowski
      @drewbowski 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@CatholicPipes I’d be offended if I was told that my belief system was merely a a ‘personal interpretation’ lacking ‘fullness of truth’.
      I love history, myself. I believe sincerely that the West is falling exactly because it fails to learn, remember, and revere its own story. I approach the argument with all due respect to your premise. I could even agree with it insofar as the history provides some degree of clarity and foundation.
      That said, there is still an elitism to the argument. It is baked into your assessment of other faiths. It is one thing to be proud of your belief system, but quite another to look down on those of others.

    • @CatholicPipes
      @CatholicPipes  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@drewbowski But, that wasn't my question. I do not believe all Christian faiths are equal. I do not mind if someone thinks the conversation is elitist in kind. No more do I mind saying Christ is Lord at the expense of making a Buddhist or Hindu feel as though I am elitist. But I go a step further in proclaiming Christs One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic church even at the expense of sounding elitist. There is one Church established by Christ not many for there is one body not many.

    • @drewbowski
      @drewbowski 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@CatholicPipes Ultimately, this whole converstion is a matter of opinion. I accept that yours and mine differ.
      That said, it will never come off well to hear that another Christian belief system lacks “fullness of truth” simply because it is not based upon the ‘original’, which seems to be the implication.
      Given that logic, I could just as easily say as a Zoroastrian that Catholicism lacks fullness of truth as it does not have sufficient history to give context to its claims. After all, Christianity has its roots in that belief system.
      The position regarding Buddhism is a separate matter. Buhhism is a separate belief system. Comparison between the two could not be made in any objective manner. It follows perfectly well that a Buddhist could see that belief system as being superior given the differences between the two. The real debate here is within Christianity. There is an objective towards humility and compassion within the Christian belief system. Accordingly, it misses the mark in a fundamental sense to proclaim a superior class within the whole category.

    • @drewbowski
      @drewbowski 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Buddism is an entirely different belief system. It would not be as offensive if a Buddhist thought their system superior. My argument is within Christianity. As Christians, we all share a common set of principles. Among them, compassion and humility are paramount. To say that one Christian belief system ‘lacks fullness of truth’ or is otherwise inferior misses the mark with respect to these principles.
      The argument for history as a means of determining superiority is also broken. It becomes a regressive argument, and all the the worse when contained within a larger regressive argument (religion itself). I could just as easily come back against Catholicism as a Zoroastrian to say that Catholics lack a fullness of the truth. After all, it is a predecessor to Catholicism.
