I have the 2011 and have waited for this day a long time. I absolutely love it. It's arrived at my dealer in Tucson. Crystal White with gold pin stripe. I'm getting it on Tuesday. It's probably not going to be ridden the way I rode my 2011 back in the day. Older guy now. It was the looks that sold me. Just like the Daytona 765 Moto2 that sits in my living room 😉

I love the look of these, I’m currently riding a 2016 Daytona 675r which suits me as it’s light and not very wide around the engine due it being a triple. The Speed triple 1200rr could well be a future bike for me. Whilst I was at the local Triumph dealer early this year I had a look round and sit on there demonstrator. The sales man appeared from nowhere and tried to work his magic on me but I was like, nah man I cannot afford one of these at the moment

OC: Triumph really delivered a beautiful bike. As far a Supersports. I love them, but my back doesn't love them. For 20k or more you likely get your money's worth. But I believe you can have just as much if not more fun on a bike that's little more than half the price of the Speed Triple RR. In my opinion I'd still go with the MT09 SP and I'd still be getting a triple, just from Yamaha.

100% agree about SS’s. They are good for everything but actually riding. If at a half hour into your ride the only thing you can focus on is how uncomfortable you are that motorcycle is going to sit, we need less supersports and more sport tourers/ upright bikes…it’s about the ride!

    • @steveearnshaw720
      @steveearnshaw720 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Rubbish. If you're uncomfortable after half an hour, you're not riding it like it was designed to be ridden. Its a sport bike, not a Harley.

OC: Great performance, usually great looks when it comes to the super and hyper-sports, but I can't justify those bikes on the street. If I'm doing 1-2 track weekends a month, then I'm all in. But for daily street riding I'll stick to my sporty naked, Monster 620, it's comfy with a slight forward lean and plenty of engine for the street.

  • @jeremyflanders9088

I’ll be getting one and I will daily it. Started out riding with an 82 GS1100e that I cafe’d(brat seat, straight bars and rear controls), went to an MT07 that I put clipons on and it’s always been to cramped, to small, to light. It never felt right. I love the RR’s seating position, weight and feel when I got to sit on one. Now it’s just saving the money up. Would have walked away with the one they had at the dealer for 16.5k but my trucks lease is up in the spring and buying it out. Tempted every day to call em up and see if it’s still there.

Between the 1200 RS and 1200 RR, I find it a tough choice. RS makes lost more sense, but I like the clipons and the look of this bike. I wasn't sure that paint would look so good, and the other color it comes with is cool looking too! I'd get this. Though, it would get me in troubl e(Bot so did my R1M, and my Super Duke R, and so would a 1200RS... I still get in trouble in my Honda CB1000R... I think I do want this bike though!)OC I do LIke Supersports. Been riding a couple of Nakes lately (last supersport was R1M from 2019, and before that had a Jixer-1000, and ZX-10R, but I do like this bike. Its a nice "hybrid" but it feels like a sport bike. I did test a 1200 RS before, and liked that bike, but I do like the look of this one a lot!

Speaking of both the Duc and Triumph, I owned a heavily modified by Fast by Ferracci Duc 999 for 8 years. Picked up a 2005 Daytona 955i in late 2013 on a whim as bidding was super low. Ended up winning it for $3500 !!!!! MINT w/ 6,800miles. Had it shipped to me for $275..with every intention of flipping it for $4, 500, 4,800. That's about the going price...then. Huge diff between the Duc and Triumph...parts cost.....example - a Ducati OEM grip kit L grip RH grip mounted on tube. Ducati - $100 Triumph - $22 Triumph had far far better OEM grips too !. Shockingly inexpensive parts vs Ducati across the board. Ended up liking the Daytona so much I kept it. What a great road-going sportbike. Plenty of power 147hp @ crank,78ftlbs...geared it down a bit -1T front, +4 T rear.. It has proprietary OEM Showa suspension., and the unusual non-USD... standard telescopic forks, axial calipers - which are both excellent. Haven't ridden the new RR, hopefully soon as weather breaks. If you get a chance give the 2002-2006 Daytona 955i a spin. You'll love it. Great for a 'young rider who wants a 'big bore' sportbike w/o getting slammed with insurance premiums.. You should review one, make sure it's the 2003 > w/ the single sided swinger and 147hp triple ...love that triple 'howl' Great review by the way Chase !!! Enjoy your stuff !

OC: Supersport market is dying on the street. People are less willing to suffer through the extreme ergos and having the powerband way high in the rpm range is pointless unless you're on the track. An example is the R6. It's easy to see why it was discontinued. The MT09 has the same horsepower and gobs more torque in a useable range. All in a comfortable package. You're losing out only in top speed and neck/back/wrist pain.

Aprilia rsv4 for a sports bike...aprilia tuono 1100v4 for naked. Both better than either of the triumphs, owned both a speed triple, and a tuono, aprilia come out on top everyday of the week 👍

OC: I don’t care for super sports at all. I don’t mind videos of people on track comparing them. Other than that I have no interest in them. I do get amusement out of peoples suffering when riding them on the streets while trying to maintain a fake smile like they’re not miserable

    "That triple whine..."
Is a set of gears that drive the cams. Sometimes is the gear between the crankshaft and the input shaft of the transmission. V4's have had that whine. Vtwins have had that whine. Inline 4's have had that whine.
Has nothing to do with the number of cylinders.

I think the best looking Triumphs are the Daytonas and the modern street and speed triples ...this one headlight thing ain't for me but I'm sure this thing flys and it's not ugly just a acquired taste I feel..I love Triumph I own a 2017 street triple 675 R and the bike is outrageous and bulletproof reliable its just this ain't it for me..speed triple RS1200 to me is where it's at...they need to make a 1000cc Daytona already

The Alien Mantis headlight/pod is gone…replaced by a single, round headlight…and everybody is proclaiming it one of the most beautiful bikes of the year. That’s a hint for you Triumph.

No it's not gone it's just on a different model. And I beg to differ because I think the headlight on this thing is meh and really like the dual lights on the rr

The retro look is cool, but all that tech makes me wonder when are all the rider aids actually hurting the riders fundamental skill? And what's a modern bike that fits perfectly in the middle?

OC. Combine that headlight with a small bezel/flyscreen and the suspension with the RS ergos and Triumph can have my money. I am looking at the Ducati Streetfighter V2 for my getaround bike at the moment. Won't know until March. Not interested in SS body position.
