I'm in US and our thanksgiving is after the leaves fall and everything is going into hibernation. So peaceful to me and no stress like other holidays . A time for reflection and gratitude
November Thanksgiving is a wonderful time! When I lived at my Grandma's it was a highlight to watch the parade and visit with family. (Some family was in the USA, so it was a treat for my parents -- getting to celebrate both Thanksgivings.)
You are right, this is such a beautiful time of year, when the trees show their colours. Happy Thanksgiving to you & yours, my friend. Big Virtual Hugs!
It was so interesting to see the E spinner. So many varieties of yarn that are possible to make with it! She also uses traditional spinning wheels, and likes the portability of the electric one. (I forgot about there being no bugs in autumn. Definite advantage!)
Hi Cathy! Very beautiful quilts from The Fair. Thank you for bringing them to us. My favourite time of year is the time between Christmas and New Year's. That's a time for me for staying cozy indoors. Take care!
@@YarnWithHeart yes, I used to work at The University of Toronto and we had that time off as paid vacation because the university was closed. The campus was quiet, too, because there were no classes and most of the students went "home" for the holidays.
@@dimitratzamtzis2018 Usually Jeff takes that week for holidays too. We don't travel far, in case he gets called in. But mostly, it's quiet time here too.
Cathy, those pics from the craft fair were brilliant! The patchwork quilts were especially impressive....i am loving seeing the progress on your hand knit sweater.....i love the Fall season because i get the chance to wear my hand knit shawls, and I also love Springtime because of all the colorful flowers blooming everywhere!
Hi Anvita. Today I got brave about starting the arms on my sweater. Very happy that I picked it back up -- as starting that arm wasn't so scary after all. lol (I absolutely love flowers too. The tree pollen really gets me, and that is the only reason that autumn is a bit more of a fav for me. Otherwise, spring would win out for sure. Maybe I should say spring for me, from indoors? lol)
@@YarnWithHeart Cathy, I love the fact that you are so real....Pollen is an issue with my sister also, so I totally understand.....I have also been scared of venturing into making sweaters even though I am very comfortable knitting. Around 3 months ago, I went ahead and got myself enrolled for test knitting a girl's tee, and I am so glad that I did this!
@@anvitasinha1770 Thank you Anvita. So many people on this channel gave me suggestions of small steps -- things to learn -- before trying to make this sweater. And thankful that the designer has a tutorial video to go with it. Very happy that you tried your first sweater also, as now there are so many beautiful garments that we both are now ready for. :-)
I enjoy the change of colors in fall. Last week we took a day trip with friends to see five waterfalls. It wasn’t the best for fall colors, but the weather was perfect. I enjoy any holiday where family gets together.
Hi Deb. I like them both too. For the spring, the tree pollens get to me, otherwise it would be equal/top on my list too (cause I love the spring flowers and the change of the weather so much). No tree pollen in autumn, so that pushes to the top of the list for me. lol
Cathy I am so with you on the ice situation. Snow I can handle, but not ice. Your sweater looks great. Looking forward to seeing the progress next week.
I remember the Ridgetown & Dresden Fairs! And one year, our school had a trip to the Tractor Pull. Wondering - Did your mom like to keep the items that she entered at the fair?
Hi Cathy. Fair looks amazing, glad you had so much fun. The spinner looks very interesting. The hanks she turned out are gorgeous, I’m a wooly girl. Autumn is my favourite but it’s close enough to call it a tie with Christmas. Love the first snow, and for quite a while to follow but there does come a time, about February that I’m over it lol. I had forgotten how much I enjoy the fair (it had been a few years since we last went). She said that the spinner is helpful for when she travels. And also uses larger ones, as she does demos at local museums. She used the electric one for everything from cashmere to rustic wool. You are right -- autumn goes all the way to Dec 21 -- so that includes colourful leaves and snow sparkling on the trees!

Someday, when I am a grandma, I will have so much fun with Halloween! No kiddos on the horizon yet, but I collect the Halloween patterns, so I will be ready. lol Thank you so much for letting me know about sharing the wash cloths. (I forgot to check with Laura or Shannon about their MALs. (insert face palm here lol) So many things happening, all at once. I feel like I'm late & behind on everything...)
Fall is fun but too short. I have used Twinkle yarn ( held with others) to make Boujee Bears. I also noticed the Kroy sock yarn was on sale but I resisted! Are you proud of me? I have never been to a fair where folks enter their handicrafts. Very fun!
I thought of you when I saw the Twinkle on sale, but didn't want to tempt you, so no email letting you know. (Guess the cat's out of the bag now, after me making this video though. lol) More colours of Kroy at half price... how can one resist? Well done you!

Some very beautiful items at that farm market. My mom used to enter her work in the farm shows - Ridgetown & Dresden.
