Question Of the Week -- Other than crochet and knitting, what is another hobby or activity that you enjoy? My answer to this question is that I enjoy growing plants (both indoors and outdoors). I'd love to hear your answer. If you'd like, you can answer in the comments, or email me...
Hello Cathy. Thanks for showing us all of beautiful yarn that you bought. Somehow I miss the MM tent sale this year. I went last year and come back home with bags full of yarn. I love knitting, crocheting, gardening and doing puzzles, reading books and since I retired I'm happy and busy with my life and hubby's. Wishing you wonderful day ❤
Hi Aleksandra! I almost missed the tent sale this year also, and was very surprised when I found out that it extended dates until September 15. Very happy for you that last year was a good trip for you with lots of yarn. Puzzles and reading are so much fun! My husband and I sometimes do a puzzle together, especially when the weather is snowy/slippery and we want an indoors activity.
Oh goodness I love being outdoors and cannot wait to get my hands in the rich earth each spring. Whether weeding or designing, my landscape was my world . I even designed a special cool quiet corner for crocheting.
Having a special outdoor spot for crocheting sounds wonderful and I'm sure it would bring such peace to your day! I miss having a yard, as it was so nice to garden. Now I pour all that love into a few indoor plants and my balcony flowers. (And I have to admit, I like to go to municipal gardens -- just for the joy of being on the earth and in midst of plants.)
What fun to go to the M.M. tent sale. Such a great haul you got. Beside knitting, reading, walking, flower arranging (although that has become too expensive now unless it is for a special occasion) and baking; in particular cookies - lots and lots of cookies to share.
As soon as I read cookies, I licked my lips... automatic "yummy" reaction. I also enjoy reading and walking. You are so right about the cost of flowers -- special occasion only for me too.
The sale started in August. I almost missed it! And so relieved that they extended the sale until mid-September... or I would have been too late this year.
Hi Cathy Nice to see you again, i am still making my granny squares ,yes i have also tried diamond painting and cross stitch and now found another enjoyable thing to do ,i got a knit pro yarn winder and have lots of fun making scrappy yarn cakes. The little squirrel was lovely to see .I have a dog that likes to do the gardening for me he is excellent at digging holes
Hi Mary. Making scrappy yarn cakes definitely does sound like a lot of fun! And leads to very interesting crochet/knit projects. Love that idea. Thank you for sharing about the dog that "helps" with your gardening. LOL
Thanks for showing us all the pretty yarn. During summer I enjoy both flower and vegetable gardening. And recently I started an African violet from a goofy looking leaf. First one I started from a leaf that has flowered.
Hi Mary! It's so great that you started a violet from a leaf and got it to flower! (Are the flowers on the new plant the same colors as the original plant? Sometimes, I've heard you get a fun surprise -- where the flower color will be something new?) I do love African violets, and I have discovered they are not easy to grow... I will keep trying them though. I hope that your garden has done well this year.
Hi Cathy! You had me laughing out loud during your tent sale confessional. 😂 Sound like you had a great time. Seems like you shopped wisely with a plan for everything you bought. All of your finished items are beautiful as usual. I just loved that little baby hat. What nice yarns going into the Bag!
Hi Christine! All that time, making sure that my cell phone was charged, so I could take lots of pictures... pffffftt LOL It was a wonderful shopping trip, and I tried my best not to shop with wild abandon. (Although that was not easy.) I'm really hoping that people will like what goes into "the bag"...
Hi Cathy. Your hat and blanket are so pretty. And what a wonderful yarn haul, so much beautiful yarn. The diamond painting and felting kit are pretty too. I have dabbled in diamond painting and felting myself. I have also dabbled in stained glass, ceramics, sewing and bead work, but at the moment I am focused on knit and crochet. I also garden. Your patio garden is beautiful. The little squirrel is cute. We have a few at my house also. They like to eat our peaches.
Hi Debbie! I had no idea that they ate/eat peaches... (However did have suspicion that it was either burying something in my planter pots, or trying to eat something inside them? Maybe it has a well balanced, varied diet. LOL) I'm happy that you enjoyed the video. Stained glass and sewing are both on my list of things to try someday. And, like you, I thoroughly enjoy ceramics & beadwork -- however yarn seems to be where my heart is at the moment. :-)
@@YarnWithHeart The squirrel just may be burying something in your planter pots. I have found numerous peanuts buried in my garden beds. I think a neighbor has been feeding them peanuts and they are saving them for later, lol.
Hi Cathy happy Friday 🎉. I love nothing more than weeding in my backyard. I find it so very satisfying every year. The blanket is so cute and I'm glad I didn't make it to the MM sale cause I would have lost my mind 😅 but I love what you got!
Hi Judy. Could you tell that I was a bit overwhelmed at the tent sale? First timer and didn't know what to expect. It was amazing and I wanted to adopt.... all... the... yarn. LOL Have a good weekend. :-)
Hi My friend ❤😊. I like to make cards and journals. I also like to do Art journaling and am just starting to get into planning. 😊 Hope you have a great weekend and week ahead. Hugs 🤗
Hi Shannon. Your cards are very beautiful, and I'm happy that I got to see you making some... Looking forward to seeing your planner pages and journals. I have been thinking of you & wishing you well. Take care and much love...
Hi Elaine! Thank you so much for commenting. I admire sewn projects... and someday I would like to learn. (My mother-in-law gave me a sewing machine, and I would really like to learn how.) I hope you have a great day too. :-)
I remember when begonias and impatients were indoor plants. Even coleus were grown on window sills. Marigolds and petunias were outdoors. My how things have changed! Your plants are beautiful. Don't bring any bugs in with them 😅
Thank you for the idea about growing impatients indoors! I think that I will try that next year... (The dragon wings were ones that I started from cuttings indoors, and I am hopeful that it will work out again this year. Good tip about not bringing in bugs on my cuttings. I will keep them far away from my housplants. Definitely do not want any bugs!)
Thank you for showing all of your yarn finds. The blanket looks quite comfy. Besides knitting and crocheting, I cross stitch. I would like to get back to sewing and quilting. Maybe next year?
Some of my friends sew and quilt. This is something that I have not learned, yet I wish that I knew how. I am happy that you enjoyed seeing the yarns that I found. Thank you for letting me know. :-)
Hi Cathy! How nice you went to the Mary Maxim Tent Sale. Totally understandable that you were distracted by the wonderful yarn on sale. I had visited close to thirty years ago and bought a cross stitch kit called Santa's Day Off. I had brought it with me to our trip to British Columbia (where we ended up staying for almost a year, long story) and that was my winter project there. It now hangs in my craft room and is a reminder of that time and place. Cross stitch and needlework is my first passion before crochet and knitting. Thanks for asking!
British Columbia is beautiful (have only been there a short time, for work, many years ago). Mary Maxim does have beautiful kits. Cross stitch and needlework both are works of art (and patience). I love seeing them...
Hi Cathy. You got some great bargains at that sale. What a cheeky and nimble squirrel! I do enjoy my garden and attempt to grow plants but I’m not that great so I wouldn’t really call it a hobby. Your plants are beautiful. I am lucky that I live within walking distance to a couple of rivers and also a country park so I do enjoy walking various routes there or anywhere really 😘
Hi Loraine! This time of year is one of my favorites for walking/hiking. What a lovely time to see the season change. imho if an activity brings joy it counts as a hobby. It is possible that as soon as you thought "wow, that's a nice looking plant" and bought it -- unsuspectingly you might have joined the world of gardeners. And that's how our hobbies might begin. lol
It's your birthday and podiversary month!!! I would have been totally focused on the yarn as well. A kid in a candy store! The blanket is lovely. Besides crochet, I am an avid vegetable gardener and I love to scrapbook even though I don't have the room for it right now. You did great with all the yarn. The flowers look wonderful. They have grown a lot since the last time.
One year yet by so quickly! I have met lovely people, shared/learned new things, and I am having so much fun! Loved vegetable gardening (when we had a yard), and I hope that your garden did well this year. Thank you for the kind comment about the flowers.
Thank you so very much. Have a nice week and see you next Friday. :-) Just now, I found a comment from you (about swimming, loom knitting, needlework). I recently found out that occasionally comments are in my email that are not showing up on the YT side. Happy that I found it your comment (in email) and now I am very curious about English Paper Piecing. On my way to google it... Thank you so much for taking time to send your comment.
I enjoy house plants too! Mine are a little bit neglected at the moment (a few need repotting and I will get to that this month). I would like to start back to some simple embroidery. It is relaxing to me and very fun.
I know a few people who play tennis. My husband played quite a lot of tennis when he was younger. I am so happy that you are enjoying the channel. Thank you so much for watching. :-)
I’ve never been to a tent sale before, but it’s on my wish list to go to the Spinrite tent sale in Listowel. My husband and I have several huge vegetable gardens, and I enjoy canning and pickling all the beautiful harvest. We had a bumper crop of tomatoes and cucumbers this year! I am also an avid reader.
I have heard that the Spinrite tent sale is amazing. I hope that you get to check it off your list. This would be a busy time of year for you, with all the harvest and canning just finishing up. Veg from the garden taste great (and those canned/frozen veg is all the better in the middle of winter... yummy).
As you can probably tell by my title I live with nature, I feed the deer in winter and squirrels and birds in summer😊 lately I have been embroidering to give my hands a break from knitting. I am really enjoying it.❤
I love watching wildlife, and really miss seeing deer (and turtles). Those are my two favorites... Embroidering is on my list of things that I would like to pick up again. It is a nice change from knitting/crochet.
I knit, crochet, do a little bit of cross stitching and plastic canvas. I have bought a hooked rug to try and a few embroidery kit for my daughter and I to try. My daughter crochets draws and paints.
Hi Andrea. Two of your interests are ones that I'm thinking of "trying again". Plastic canvas is one that I had a shaky start at and would like to try once more. And rug hooking (for me, it would be latch hook) is something I did many many years ago and I am curious to try again... It is wonderful that you craft together with your daughter. (I have 2 sons, and neither of them are very interested.)
Hi Cathy. I’m glad you made it to the MM tent sale. I didn’t go this year. Had a good time last year though. You need to try the Spinrite tent sales. I think March, and August. They have great prices and super deals. They hand you a garbage bag at the door 😂. It’s in Listowel, a little further for you but worth it. Flowers are looking like Fall, best time of year. Hobbies? I have too many lol. As well as knitting and crocheting I read and have a book club, paint so teach classes and walking now. Used to teach exercise classes too but walking is good for now. See a trend? My son said I always turn my hobbies into jobs/money and his dads hobbies just cost money lol. See you next Friday! Take care.
Hi Tami! I didn't know that Spinrite has a sale in March... That's one to watch for! (Now that I know about Tent Sales... LOL) I also love autumn/fall. Sweater weather, leaves changing colour, cozy blankets... going for walks without overheating. A book club sounds really interesting, and painting (you're so multi-talented! and add in the markets that you do, it all must keep you very busy!)

Thank you so much for the tip about Spinrite. Now that I tried one tent sale, I'm totally ready to try another next year. Someday, I would really like to learn sewing. It seems complicated, and running a machine scares me a bit -- so I would have to take it slowly.
