Loyalty literally is a 2 way street. He verbally agreed a new deal before the World Cup, they then took the deal off the table but the time he had come back. Didn’t speak about a contract for months; then came back in February and offered him a 1 year extension on the same terms, essentially just to strength their selling position. I think the only way you can say he's "betrayed" Chelsea is if the reports that he was trying to get some 300k a week deal was the reason why he's not stayed. I highly doubt with how much Chelsea have pushed the idea of Mount being a big part of the future of Chelsea since his debut season, that their own deal on the table was any level of unreasonable to force him to move. It's why I also think there's more too this that might be about how messy behind the scenes currently are at Chelsea that he thinks it's better to get away and take the heat over stay.

This is kind of my issue with it though, if he's on 200k at United and the deal on the table at Chelsea would have been around the same potentially even 225k then why's he left? @@CB-lw7ty Probably low balled him at the start then once he got interest from other clubs they were like "oh shit let's match", unless he got an offer wayyy more from Chelsea he weren't gonna sign cause it pretty much shows the didn't value him in the 1st place. Also Chelsea style contracts are long years heavily incentive based now under boehly I think under roman abramovich mount probably would've been signed last year. Cause as stupid as it sounds 200k isn't actually eye popping money he's making less than the likes of saka foden and rashford which sounds about right so no clue how this happend.

Less than Rashford makes sense tbh Rashford has had 7-8 years now being a decent level for United, Mounts only really been around for 3 and had 1 bad year with that too which is why I think 200k mark is about right for this contract, 300-350k next contract when he's 27ish. Foden and Saka I'd say should be on lesser contracts in reality more than Mount should be matching them.
I mean I can see him being annoyed at being messed around a little by Chelsea but you still saw how much he was upset at leaving, even with the current contract situation and bids going on he was still happy to come to training under Poch. I don't know I just feel like with the offers so close and he obviously wanted to stay then there has to be something else behind the scenes going on to make him say im definitely leaving, especially when its uprooting to Manchester to, not like he moved across to Arsenal.

I know it’s just talking, but there has to be better info in these chats too. Cause “game time” and “not getting paid what he wanted” and also “poch clearly hasn’t guaranteed him time” all false according to multiple reports over the last 2-3 weeks at least. Chelsea fumbled the negotiation and it’s a majority their fault for taking away an agreed upon contract essentially and leaving talks nonexistent for multiple months until the season is coming to an end. Mason doesn’t deserve the hate, but it’s the fact that he essentially firmly said he will not negotiate despite there being a place for him in this team because poch had firmly stated he wanted mount and he would be integral. That’s according to reports by Fabrizio Romano, Ben Jacobs, and so on. Mount had then been offered a 1 year extension instead when poch said he wanted mount and mount basically saw that as “oh you’re adding a year to maintain my highest value to sell me on” so he decided after a sour ending to the their negotiations that he wouldn’t renew and he made that clear up until he basically 95% confirmed to be a Man Utd player.
Then his video goodbye was honestly not great. It’s a great touch to do a video, but it was just too scripted and somewhat lame. Then he leaves to join a direct rival. Just sits really badly because on the other hand we have seen players like Gallagher for example who has been reportedly shown the door essentially if the right offer comes in, fighting for his place despite not being highly wanted to stay. He hasn’t given up, whereas it comes off like Mount did. I don’t really blame Mount at all for this situation, but it still hurts for us CFC fans who especially defended him online a lot, such as myself.

The problem from the United side is that we need a defensive minded midfielder to play next to Casemiro when going to the Etihad and Anfield and also for that cover for Casemiro if he gets injured, suspended or just needs a rest. It doesn't look like that's going to happen when we chuck pretty much £60m at a player on the last year of his contract and we don't have the funds for all the positions we need to strengthen. I'll back him now he's a United player and ten Hag wanted him but this is nowhere near enough for us to push on, it's not even enough to replicate last season.

Can we afford one? I fear the plan is to bring MG back, which I'd be against (but even if I was for, it will be hugely divisive).

@@crag188wwe I don't know why you're in denial about managers switching up how they set up for certain matches and adapt, he wasn't a counter attacking team at Ajax either but look at that, he did for United in certain games where we lost the midfield battle.
Like I said he could do that in the dutch league but the prem is a different animal and there are teams you just can't do that against with this current team. This is common knowledge. Mourinho did it in his prime, Fergie always used to change his set up for certain away games and European matches so if ten Hag wants to progress and survive in the hot seat he's going to have to adjust his game plan for certain games.
