Then got a UCL Final 2 years later. Arsenal conceded Over 40 goals this season and looked horrible outside the league.

I understand managers outperforming expectations as an argument. But City will be expected to walk the league every season. So what would it take for Pep to win the award? 🤔

The bias against Pep is laughable. If City wins the treble and Pep is not manager of the year, then Pitch Side should be a knitting club for desperate drunken men, cause nobody can take it seriously.

@@camrobbins5154 Has nothing to do with Peps qualities as a manager. Pep hasen´t broken any rules. Chelsea spend 600 + million and finished below Brentford and Fulham. Tuchel got the sack from PSG as did Poch, cause they couldn´t manage big stars and egos, Pep can.

Has to be Emery, from 17th to 7th , the amount of points he got in the time he was in charge. Howe has done great but he's had more time there.
Depends which way you look at it, more time to be successful or more time to fail. Howe has proven that it wasn't a purple patch in the second half of a season. He had a full season of Newcastle in the top 4.
If Emery gets Villa in the top 4 next season he'll likely get my vote for MotS.

Because the job he's done is outstanding. Before the season started pep was expected to win the league with a canter. They already won it last year then bought haaland. Before the season started "haaland is a cheat code" "city will go unbeaten" etc etc they said.
Nobody said Newcastle would get top 4. Pep did what he was expected to do and Howe went above what was expected.
Plus, give pep this Newcastle team this season. Does he replicate the points total that Newcastle got, with the amount of goals they conceded, and the number of losses they were subjected to?

@@frankdux5693 he capitalised on Chelsea, United, Liverpool and Tottenham shitting the bed, and to a point Leicester, he got a great circumstance. Did well to maintain focus but also went massively off it at one point.
@@calvinwilson1022 massively off it? They had a spell where they drew a lot of games after Xmas when the team had Injuries and suspensions, while playing some top sides too. They still weren't losing lots of games. Only 5 losses all season.
Newcastle got a points total that will get you UCL football virtually every season no matter what other teams do. It's not like they snuck into UCL with 58 points or something.
Since 2006 only Leicester and Newcastle have got into the top 4 outside of the usual corrupt 6. So that tell you how difficult it is. And Leicester's title win was some type of miracle that we'll never see again happen again in our lifetime.
Chelsea and Liverpool have had bad seasons since 2006, finishing 8th and 10th etc a couple of times and still nobody was able to "capitalise" on it. I think you're trying to play down Newcastles top 4. It's not like they finished 6th or 7th and made the jump. They were nailed on for relegation when Howe came in. He's transformed them in a little over a year. Hasn't spent the world. The team uses most of the players that were already at the club.

@@neynmarrrrr if we're saying overall football manager of the season then he wins easy but for prem he performed as expected if not worse, they underperformed in the first half of the season, which is why Arsenal led for so long so it's not only a few games at the end, everyone expected them to get 90+ points so winning the league with a team that would be competing to win every competition even if they didn't have a manger, a team with much more and higher quality depth in almost every position then anyone in the league isn't mind blowing, he didn't overperform or overcome the odds he did as any manager is expected with easily the best team in the world

I don’t understand why people keep saying Eddie Howe did way more than expected, he took over Newcastle last season and under his management only City and Liverpool had gotten more points… why would the expectation in the 22/23 season be so low then? I actually think Arteta between the 2 seasons has done better than Eddie Howe… beginning of the season expectations were very close between arsenal and Newcastle

Howe is the most shocking so he gets it for me. Did not expect Newcastle to be anywhere near top 4. Howe getting Newcastle to 4th is more impressive than Arteta taking Arsenal to 2nd. For me its 1) Howe, 2) Emery, 3) De Zerbi for most impressive. But it's best overall so its gotta go to Pep

Extremely harsh not to include him, I think it’s cause he picked them up flat a really good place, just made them better. Emery for me gets it, slightly biased as I am a villa fan haha.
De Zerbi took over Brighton when they were in 4th. No chance he gets in the top 3.
Generally from conversations I've had on similar videos it's because people are talking in hindsight when it comes to Brighton. I've seen plenty talk about how Brighton have got great players, play great football etc so getting Europa isn't a shock, completely forgetting if you asked them at the start of the season who players like Mitoma and Caicedo were then they'd have no clue, let alone this is a team who's finished 3 consecutive seasons in the bottom 5 with 40 points.
I've also seen alot of people talk about how Potter had them in a good place when he left but again that puts people in the mindset that all that happened when Potter left was De Zerbi came in with a like for like swap, completely forgetting Brighton had the entire backroom staff leave not just a portion like normal, large chunks of their scouting and data departments that the club relies heavily on, a technical director and their best performing player in January. For most people because that level of chaos wasn't weekly mainstream news like it was for Chelsea then it didn't happen and Brighton were just completely fine with that. Which would speak in De Zerbi's favour that he guided the club through that huge transition with minimal fuss and a top 6 finish. He's my manager of the season if Pep doesn't get the treble, if Pep gets the treble then its his by default.
It's between De Zerbi and Guardiola for 2nd/3rd for me with Howe a clear winner. O'Neil did well but it's easier to keep a team up than it is to break into Europe imo. Especially with tripe like Southampton, Leicester and Leeds in the league.
Steve Cooper had to work with 30 new players second most injuries and under pressure for most of season to finish 1 or 2 points behind Bournemouth?isn't he a decent shout?

This years manager of the year is probably the hardest its ever been. I believe Pep is undesputedly the best manager in the world. I think Emery and Howe are probably more deserving of it this season. I think Howe probably should have won last season instead of Klopp and Emery probably deserves it this season

Honestly one step away from stopping watching this purely because of Theo’s bias and not being able to accept that Arsenal bottled the league.

I think this is kinda absurd ngl. Like how is it not De Zerbi? Pep himself said it was comfortably De Zerbi 🤣 but no one even nominated him. Also saying its pep because he won the league is absurd. It should be off of expectations vs reality not just reality. Man city expected to win the league and they did, but almost didn't so just not as crazy for me. De Zerbi with THAT team was probably told to avoid relegation and mans said "nah we got european competition" and basically the same with Thomas Frank and Gary O'Neil. I think Pep should be nominated but not win. Primary nomination for me are Gary O'Neil, De Zerbi (my winner as well as most professional critics as I see), Eddie Howe, and Thomas Frank. Pep and Ten Hag deserve a shout but neither really deserve it imo.
De zerbi took over Brighton in 4th & finished a couple points ahead of villa who Emery took over from 17th. Not to mention Howe getting Newcastle top 4 & O’Neil and silva getting relegation favourites to comfortable survival

@@EA-hz9mg I'm sorry do you see the team he worked with vs Howe, pep, Arteta, and Ten Hag? This man essentially took a championship team and made them european worth. Howe has had one of the best (not to take away how impressive it was) and same with emry, that was a team that would be going far into european competition with a decent coach. People are missing the point of what I was saying entirely. De Zerbi took over a remarkably mediocre team and made it into a team that pep himself said was top three in the world atm. We just going to overlook everything?
