That was very confusing. I think it's simple at this point it's not worth it to buy a new 4K TV if you currently have a perfectly fine 1080p TV. But if you are in the market for a new TV or need to replace an old TV then by all means yes buy a 4K TV and buy the biggest one you can afford and that your space and seating distance will allow.
you have changed my mind and now i dont want a 4K tv thank you. 1080p FULL HD will still be the grand daddy of them all for another 2 or 3 years or maybe more until 4k really takes off.
Great video !! picking up a 75" after much debate and all that information you went over is exactly what I've been agonizing over. Keep up the good work.
I had a problem w/ my tv & was gonna upgrade immediately, so I was looking at getting a 4K. I got mine fixed, so I can do more research, I found u to be very educated on this subject & have really studied ur stuff. U changed my mind, I wasn't going to be spending that much, but was thinking of the future. I'll be watching from too far away to benefit, so thank u for saving me from a bad purchase.
Just got a Seiki 39" 4K UHD TV which I am using as a PC monitor because it was the cheapest around for the quality. Your video is great and it has help clear some doubt and reservations. Is nice to see and hear someone give a good and honesty view. Thanks for your dedication.
I was really set on buying a 4k tv for console gaming and movie watching and your video absolutely changed my mind and is going to save me money. You explain things very well and I thank you for taking the time to make this video.
This video was awesome. You, Sir, are one of the few people on TH-cam which can still be trusted. As for the rest of you guys, whatever you decide to do don't be cheapish and buy anything from Hisense... I tried to watch Wales vs. Portugal on one of those things, in a bar, and almost puked. Horrible image quality and consistency, Horrible refresh rate (impossible to see any sort of sport where there is motion), Horrible flaring from anything whitish (worst TV experience I had since the 70s). So, I had to miss the first half and go to a bar which had an LG. So, whatever you decide, don't be cheap and go for the "bargain" solution... Stick with known quality (Personally I use LG because Samsung is very slow in the Smart feature department). Cheers.
Very honest, informative, balanced, convincing evaluation! Concerning 4K-content you may add selfmade - photos, depending on the resolution available and used in your camera - 4k-video from your very expensive camera OR: your topsmartphone!
I'm tempted to send this video to my brother who bought a 40 inch 4k tv and we had an argument when I said it was a shame he can't watch anything on it and he hasn't spoken to me since.
Thank you! This video was very informative and you based your opinion on what an average consumer would actually be looking at such as the prices of 4K TVs and the amount of content currently available for 4K. I also like the way you change the camera angles to keep the viewer engaged with what you are saying and it also makes it a little bit more professional. Good job!
i ordered a 55" 4k Samsung tv today and the 1080p samsung i had before it i had for 8 years and at least the last 2 of those years were with black smogs or whatever on the screen so this new 4k tv is a really nice thing for me right now
I just purchased one and love it. I got it more because of the SMART TV options and the upgrade over my current TV not for the picture quality specifically. That was just a bonus.
Wait what? The actual review started 4 seconds into the video after a brief "Hi, welcome to the video" Dude. You're one of the best reviewers here just for that.
Hi I often watch this young guy because he is well clued up. Double chuffed because I did my own research on 4K and I happened to buy the same TV as the one in this video am I pleased with it after 4 months use? U bet I am. As a retired film technician I must have top picture quality, its ingrained in me and this TV ticks all the boxes. If you have a grand to spend then this is the one to get, I bet U will love it. Samsung 48" 4K 7500.
I just bought a 55 inch Samsung TV The processor built-in to me giving me a very clear picture i'm really impressed not a bad price $$950 thanks for your video🤔
Very well presented with insightful opinions and having just purchased a 60" Sumsung UHD tv, I agree with your conclusions. What caused the purchase was that my wife insists on staging the furniture 15-20 ft. from the tv and we needed a larger tv -moving up from 47". The larger screen was supposed to be easier on our eyes. While programming in HD has no effect on the eyes, UHD does. This sounds crazy but my eyes are working harder to focus on the UHD in order to take in more detail. Hopefully, my eyes will get used to higher detail.
Great video very informative! content of 4k is the issue here, don't forget that in the UK there is only 1 ultra hd channel which is BT sport. Now a lot of content on television is still in standard definition and high definition, unless of course as you said you stream it. Which of course has it's drawbacks, as you need a good enough Internet connection, to be able to stream the data. I personally feel that what's important firstly is the quality of the content you are actually watching, and then I'm thinking how clear the picture is! If the content is bad, then what is the point in seeing it more clearly?
After watching lots, and I mean lots of vids of this type, this young man is the 'Nut,s' Check him out, don't just take my word for it. I had actually purchased a 48" [Samsung 700] 4K TV six weeks B4 I watched this vid, and I'm glad I did, it, the picture is fabulous. I'm a retired film technician (Apple only when it come to computers) and quality is in-grained in me. My excellent 5 year old 42" Samsung is now in our kitchen (24'x12'), and I hope it continues to work for another 5 years, is 4K worth it 'Yes'. Was not to cracked up on the curve so went for the flat panel. Well done to PC Centric 5*.
Thank you very much! You have probably just saved me over £200, I was thinking of going buy a 4k TV today but thanks to this video, I've learnt it really wouldn't be worth it for me! Thank you! I've liked and subscribed, keep up the good work! Very professional!
Daniel Mather Not True...4K even if only upconverting looks amazing....everything is better...much BETTER....sports, movies, etc. We have both and do not even want to watch regular HD anymore. The 4K is fantastic..this moron is just trying to get views.
Thank you, you made everything you said make sence and made me feel so much better, I have just bought a 55" Samsung the same model you have talked about and I was not happy about the picture but now because I have just heard your revue I now understand much more so many thanks!
I like your style of presenting; all the good info and you're quite unphased about the odd mistake. That's refreshing! So I won't be buying a 4K TV anytime very soon - unless I buy a Panasonic LX100 camera with 4K movie capability; then I'll just have to go for it. It's the law.
Olivia Hodgkinson Not True...4K even if only upconverting looks amazing....everything is better...much BETTER....sports, movies, etc. We have both and do not even want to watch regular HD anymore. The 4K is fantastic..this moron is just trying to get views.
Great explanation of 4K TVs. Was going to buy one in sales. Going to get bog standard full hd set saving couple hundred quid. Just need it to watch tv. There must be a lot of disappointed 4K buyers not getting what they thought they were buying
Such a great and professional review fully went on full details I kept looking at the TV on the back and how clear that looked defiantly getting a 4K Samsung
You should do an update to this video, every year or so, for the next few years, in order to assess whether the value proposition of 4k tv's is changing. Obviously, more 4k content is being added, prices of the tv's are coming down, and the power of graphics cards is increasing. I wouldn't say we are quite there yet, though, for it to be a mainstream item.
Pretty good presentation; a side by side comparison would be even better even if TH-cam lowers the actual definition. One could still see how much the relative difference between the two is.
Terrific video, have now subscribed. Quick question, how do you memorise all the information? Do you write notes to refer to and place them near the camera? I really should know all this stuff. ;)
+PC Centric All the hard work invested has amounted to something. Not only helping others but the time and effort you've dedicated to doing so, helps you grow as a person. Nice work sir. You're doing a stellar job.
Great vid, at last, someone that knows what they're talking about. I've just purchased a Samsung 48inch UHD 4K LED flat screen. It runs PS4 Star Wars Battlefront fairly well, I find Movie mode best for this with rare lag. Netflix and VirginMedia are excellent quality compared to the Panasonic 55inch HD LED(that I could only bare for too days-lag city). Hence a exchange by the lovely peeps at Argos. Once again, great vid and very informative, thanks for sharing. Keep up the good work.👍🏻
Great. Much more informative than the instore people and easier than trawling through multiple sites to get all these angles in one place. Talked me out of 4K and saved me £300. Thanks
Just got a Samsung 40inch 4k, This tv just blows my mind for Picture quality and the upscaling is fantastic. I watch content downloaded to a usb stick and external hard drive for 4k viewing just awesome picture quality.Jim Wilson
upscaling is a major factor. i work at target tech (work for marketsource, not target). and i saw that a 4k samsung 55inch was on sale for $569 instead of $899 at my store... i bought it.and i do not regret it..... i watched a 1976 movie (The Enforcer) and no bullshit, i thought it came out recently..... .im amazed. he is right. not much 4k content . but upscaling is amazing. get samsung or lg. my favorite was vizio but when i returned my vizio, they told me they are not as durable as before
Thanks buddy, watching your review does help to know what to get and what not to get and what to use it for. I'm not a big gamer as I would do that on my PC anyway. I just want to watch good TV shows, DVD's, NetFlicks, and Foxtel content, All here Australia. A good LG 65" 4K UHD Smart TV here sells around the $3.500 mark with 3D. I don't want to watch 3D movies at home as I'd rather go to the movie's and get a better experience there. All up, thanks again for your review, it did help in what I'm wanting. Cheers, Kev.
Good review very informative. I have a 40 inch Finlux smart tv and I can honestly say the picture quality is excellent for the price which when I bought it 2 years ago was only £250. So I wanted to upgrade to 4k tv and found out that you only benefit from tv's from 55 inch and above. Finlux 55 inch 4k tv with lots of extra's is £430 which is a lot cheaper than most well known brands. The only draw back is the sound quality isn't that good so a sound bar is recommended, but I certainly would buy another Finlux tv. I'd never heard of them till I read online reviews. So this is a cheaper way of upgrading to 4k IMO. Most tv's have poor sound quality as they need to save space to keep the tv streamline and less bulky, so most tv's need sound bars.
the best review I ever had. Am from India and 4k content on tv channels are far far away.... so am gonna have a 55inch full hd led tv for watching movies and tv channels... in future, let say 5 years down the line there will be 5k or more... then I will decide as per the 4k content availability is concern... thanks bro... u r great...
+Sukhjinder Atwal absolutely..... but think about it... India is the largest market in entire Globe. But has always limited accessibility of technology and others. A simple example... Samsung gear vr was launched in 2014 in other countries... but we are getting the ads now. and it is only for s6. but there was 2 models .... one for s6 and another for note 4 which has a higher ppi ans gyro... example 2: plenty of gadgets and other items like action figures of coc or asterix is only available in ebay dot com or in amajon dot com. but in India, they are not available at all.... whatever... let our future generations enjoy all of these.... but trend will be same :-)
I'm currently using an HP ZR2440w FHD monitor.. Main components of my PC are an i7 4790k @ 4.7 Ghz & a GTX 1080 TI. I've been looking to get either a 2K or 4K gaming monitor but I've noticed that for what a monitor costs, a 4K "television" could be a feasible option as well. Therefore, taking into account 4:4:4 chroma subsampling, input lag as well as overall picture quality, I'm looking at either a 49" Sony X900E (VA panel) or a (2017) 55" Vizio P55-E1 (IPS panel). Both of these also accept 120 hz input @ 1080p
just bought a 4k uhdtv LG49uh770 and honestly can say i have noticed a vast improvement although 4k is not broadcast a lot at the moment it is available on Netflix & you tube and in my opinion the picture quality is great so I guess its whatever floats your boat enjoy what you like now or wait till later when obviously more broadcasts become available. Ps. as a BT subscriber paying £6-50 for my tv package I recently reviewed my package and asked how much to receive 4k now they quoted approx. £21 I replied forget it as iwas already getting it in my package for Netflix and You tube. I believe bt sport would be the only bt network provided in 4k take your pick.
Maybe you could discuss rgb full vs limited for gaming on consoles/pc, I think alot of people use full for console gaming which isnt right Anyhows look forward to your views, great channel btw
Great video, thanks. I was thinking on buying the 9 series from samsung 75 inch, but after watching this video and researching a little bit, it seems that is not worth it as others have mention. Directv offer very limited 4K content and they're the ones leading the race, so, no 4k for me. The problem is that manufacturers are pushing this 4k **** really hard. SMDH
+n4ktz ikr, i went to shop few week ago and saw how good they are, hopefully gettin one tomoz, all i need to no is will it affect ps4 gameplay in anyway bad?
+69 Gamers refresh rates aren't great but that's the same for pretty much all LCD/LED TV's as I think they mostly use IPS panels. Will still be 60hz and from what I've seen they tend to have around 60ms refresh rate so unless you're a super. twitchy eSports gamer you'll be fine.
+69 Gamers oh, and just so you know the consoles don't do anything 4k yet and will probably never be able to do 3d games in 4k. They probably only included 4k capable HDMI ports because they plan to have 4k streaming (Netflix etc.) and 4k blu rays, when they finally get round to that. If you have a uhd Netflix subscription your TV will probably make have a Netflix app that can stream 4k and there's plenty of 4k content on TH-cam.
+Robbie B and 1 last thing the upscaling from 1080p is very good as its exactly 4x the resolution so mathematically it upscales easily so don't worry there. Good 1080p content looks great on a decent 4k screen.
i feel people are going overboard with negativity towards 4k tvs. lets not have any doubt that you WILL see an amazing difference between a 4k 65 inch tv showing a 4k dvd and a 1080p 65 inch tv showing the same movie.....i mean they look gorgeous (my dad has one at home). the question is whether there is enough content right now for it to be worth buying (which is why im having difficulty deciding to buy one for myself......but that does not mean that 4k is a "load of rubbish" or "nonsense" as some comments state.
I was thinking about buying one of these but I already have a good full HD LED TV so I doubt it would be worth my while. Also, the screen on my TV is 40 inches and I sit about 6 feet away from it. Some of the videos I've seen suggest that you must have a larger screen (60 inches or more) and if I did that, I wouldn't have much room to move around the bloody thing. A lot of people live in quite small homes nowadays and probably won't get much benefit from one of these TVs. My living room is bigger than the average modern build as I live in a flat in a converted Victorian house and I could move my sofa back a couple of feet, but even so I don't think a giant screen TV is very practical for most people.
5'15" I don't really agree. When having a setup for ideal 4K viewing, sure 1080 won't look as great. But don't forget you still can't see any physical pixels. 1080 will get upscaled and still looks better than sitting at the same distance to an equally sized 1080 TV.
The information was helpful in understanding the 4K option, however I feel there was too much information that extended the video time, otherwise helpful. Thank you 🙂👍🏻
That was very confusing.
"What actually is a 4K tv?"
*turns to other camera to explain
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Hahah yea it's kinda funny and unnecessary but still a good video. :)
+Signex NL yes it is
Necessary? No. Appreciated? Yes

I just bought a 4K Tv and I freakin Love it!! plus I am using HDMI 2.0 Cables and have a 4K Upscale Bluray Player picture is beautiful!

Lots of tech jargons but still understandable though. thank you very much :) Definitely going to get one of those Samsung's 4K UHD tv.
A much helpful and meaningful video......thank you
Very helpful video. I think it's just saved me spending more than I need to! I'll check out your other videos too. Thanks.
Excellent clear and concise video, helped me make my mind up.
Great vid. Helpful thanks. Got an LG LCD TV 37" that needs to be upgraded. Happy to go for a 40" something LED. 4k at some point obviously
I remember when flat screened LCD TV with 720p, was the new big thing. Those were the days, hard to believe it was 10 years ago.
the best review I ever had.
Samsung gear vr was launched in 2014 in other countries... but we are getting the ads now. and it is only for s6. but there was 2 models .... one for s6 and another for note 4 which has a higher ppi ans gyro... example 2: plenty of gadgets and other items like action figures of coc or asterix is only available in ebay dot com or in amajon dot com. but in India, they are not available at all.... whatever... let our future generations enjoy all of these.... but trend will be same :-)
Calm an intelligent presentation , subbed - Thumbs up :)
I have a 4k tv and I love it it looks great.
Fantastic review! These are facts one will only get from a well educated independent reviewer!
Thank you!
Therefore, taking into account 4:4:4 chroma subsampling, input lag as well as overall picture quality, I'm looking at either a 49" Sony X900E (VA panel) or a
(2017) 55" Vizio P55-E1 (IPS panel).
Thank you for all the info. It was very helpful.
Cheers for the advice ole bean!
SMDH
Very good Video! i will hold off for a while, until there's more content for 4k
Very helpful, made me reconsider a UHD tv.
4k TVs look AMAZING even if it is only upconverting....sports are MUCH better so dont listen to crap when you have to see for yourself.
+n4ktz ikr, i went to shop few week ago and saw how good they are, hopefully gettin one tomoz, all i need to no is will it affect ps4 gameplay in anyway bad?
+n4ktz . true..
Nice vid. Very informative and articulate
Top marks on explaining this best iv seen !!!!
Great video. Very informative. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Thanks for the review
Excellent and useful. Well organised.
Really makes sense,,,, good job...keep it up.
Great review! Thanks for this
very clear explanation, thanks!
Thank you man. Very informative, I really appreciate it.
i feel people are going overboard with negativity towards 4k tvs. lets not have any doubt that you WILL see an amazing difference between a 4k 65 inch tv showing a 4k dvd and a 1080p 65 inch tv showing the same movie.....i mean they look gorgeous (my dad has one at home). the question is whether there is enough content right now for it to be worth buying (which is why im having difficulty deciding to buy one for myself......but that does not mean that 4k is a "load of rubbish" or "nonsense" as some comments state.
Really great explanation.
Very clear and informative. Excellent. 4K TVs aren't worth getting at the moment. I'm glad I didn't buy one and I think you've proved it.
thanks for the informative and helpful video
Very informative. Like it!
you bro seems like a really nice guy ,and thank u that was really helpful.
So useful! Thank you so much!
Thank you!well presented honest review
Great information thank you. Very helpful.
Great job ! Was having a hard time on deciding if I should buy now !!! I guess not !!! not even now in 2016
5'15" I don't really agree. When having a setup for ideal 4K viewing, sure 1080 won't look as great. But don't forget you still can't see any physical pixels. 1080 will get upscaled and still looks better than sitting at the same distance to an equally sized 1080 TV.
thanks man for make it so clear... keep it up!!!
ur a good presenter, u just speak facts with common sense
The information was helpful in understanding the 4K option, however I feel there was too much information that extended the video time, otherwise helpful. Thank you 🙂👍🏻
