A wonderful look into the MYS. As a superyacht broker, I was fortunate enough to represent the largest sailing yacht ever offered for sale in the Monaco Yacht Show, the 294ft. S/Y Athena, now almost dwarfed by Bezos's KORU. During the 2023 Monaco Show, we were fortunate enough to interview the legendary designer of the largest most expensive yachts in the world for our TH-cam channel !
Right now I am busy thinking of creative ways on how I am going have a loan structured with a lender as I need to refill the 5 litre fuel tank on my Zodiac inflatable.
Imagine most started out that way...Like she stated: "Living well is addictive..." "I could get used to this...?" vs "normal" US owners, who do everything themselves..."Thos is a pain in my azz; Please buy my $ pit???" Which, is the reality when not really rich...
Why should I get rid of my gas truck when these mega yachts burn more fuel than I will in a lifetime? Not to mention the private jets, cruise ships, and exotic sports cars the rich indulge in. Sad but humanity will never go green to save itself.
Surprisingly the numbers end up being very very few of these and many many cars. A jet gets the mpg of an RV and most flights are a few hundred miles as the cost is significant.
Yet, still more than an average family spends on fuel annually...Most people will take 1 flight per year. Meanwhile, these celebrities take an average of 20-30...Then, take a heliocopter to their yachts...Don't pee on me, and tell me it's raining!!! And, don't tell me any of these people GAF about the climate (Other than to pick your, and my pockets...) 🤦

Crew members are issued shoes that they can wear on the boat. They are not allowed to take those shoes ashore. The purpose is to keep dirt away from those expensive wood, carpet and marble surfaces to prevent scratching and stains.

The problem with having a yacht over a certain size is that you can't always get into some ports for easy docking. And anchoring out and having to take the tender ride through sometimes rough water to get in is a pain in the rear. It's so nice to just step off onto the dock to explore the smaller towns and villages from a smaller yacht. And as for fuel, some areas have cheaper diesel than others, you just have to plan around that part to try and be where it's cheaper when you need to fuel up. But above all that the absolute most expensive part is when you want to haul out to do an extensive refit, you're looking at millions at that point. Other smaller expenses include provisions, dock fees (and some are fairly expensive), pilot fees for taking you into the harbor, pump outs, etc, etc.

Another thing is, that calling this living, considering situation in the world, can bring person to very strange existence understanding. For example, becoming a client of illegal transplantation business, or something like that (8000000 kids counted missingin USA last, 2023, year). That all depends on your profession...Unless, you want to see your dads work boots at your wedding...? Or, at the beach...Humans don't really require water, food, and a heat source for the winter. But, show me a female (without std's), that will sleep in a cardboard box, and these yacht's will "disappear"...
Do you need more than one pair of shoes? Yes. Of course. I would never wear the same shoes every day and for every activity. Going to work, going to the gym, taking a long walk with my dog, going to a restaurant, going to my friend's wedding, going on holiday (skiing holiday, beach holiday, etc).
the US may have the money to maintain a seized yacht, but some are anchored in jurisdictions where a million a year makes a real dent in the official budget. The whole thing is so much virtue signaling. Those two guys from the Justice Department put me in mind of the final scene of Lord Of War, where Nick Cage explains to the guy from the government about the knock on the door and what's going to happen when he answers it.
Now, imagine when no one "knocks", and is more than happy to suspend 1/3 of the world's grain supply, in exchange for his friend's yachts...? If Putin retreats, "no problem"...If he takes Kiev, Europe is gonna have problems...Certainly wouldn't be the first time Ukraine was used to starve millions of people!!!
That will have zero effect on super yachts as a whole. What it will do, hopefully, is to place more stringent practices for the use of retractable keels, height of masts, COG, etc. So, a combination of yachting practices and yacht designs - specifically, sailing super yachts.
Very true - these boats create many jobs and livelihood for many people. For building them and considering the 10% of their cost used annually - for maintenance. Maybe, it's only these boats that manage to properly drain the huge sums of wealth that the rich have - and allow the huge wealth they have accumulated to trickle down and be distrubuted to the poor.
This doccie could have been so much better. This lady seems like a "lifestyle show" kind of presenter. Imagine a Mehdi Hasan or Louis Theroux type breaking down why this topic is significant for the world: conspicuous consumption, inequality, environment, etc.
so for boat with that size and helmet or owned by regular peoples, its limit only up to 12 passengers but its a different rule when it comes to all this billionaires..Got it.
Ethics/morality go away when a victor has been established...If/when Russia takes Ukraine, there will be "problems", with the seized vessels...Like: "I think I will continue taking land in exchange for my stolen yachts...?" And: "No soup for you! (Seeing how Ukraine supplies 1/3 of Europes grain supply...)
If you have up to fifty people crewing a yacht, there is practically no privacy. Anybody caught sneaking pictures to sell to the tabloids will be made to walk the plank.
Oh, there IS "privacy"...The first rule of this service based industry is "See nothing, hear nothing, and damn sure say nothing", unless you want your family homeless...And, yes. They are serious! Only those with extensive track records of keeping their lips closed, keep a job...Amd, they are payed hansomely for their discretion...Unless you are directed, you keep yourself "hidden". NOTHING leaves that boat. They have people for that too...
Nothing like Monaco The biggest Yachts were the Russian ones, though they no longer come here due to Sanctions, nevertheless the Russian Economy is only roaring, so expect even bigger Russian Yachts calling here, Russians are more bothered about their mistreated Ethenic people than their Yachts,

@@zotax6948 Economics 101 - Money is a mechanism for transferring pre-existing demand. The need for workers is already there, but which jobs get funded depends on how the money is spent. You don't 'create' jobs by spending money - you influence which jobs get funded. If I don't buy a boat, but instead buy a home, then the boats jobs go down and construction jobs go up, etc. As an individual, the only way one can affect total jobs is either by burning money (thus destroying the latent demand it fuels), or by financing new economic activity exclusively through a form of debt that creates new money rather than redirecting existing stock piles of money. "Job Creators" is a deepity. To the degree its true, it applies to any and all economic activity, and therefore is a useless term. The spokesperson is explicitly claiming that employment activity would go down if boat demand went down, which is false. The boat didn't create the demand for labor, it redirected the demand from the other things people would be producing. It would be just as accurate (or inaccurate) to call the boats "job destroyers" because of all the job markets that are now reduced due to $50 million being pulled from the economy to finance a billionaires house boat.
It's great seeing them spend hundreds of millions of dollars on a boat 😅 and even though they must hate it by dummies being parted from their money they are helping employ hundreds of people just to maintain and supply and fuel their boats P.T. was right only now it's every 10 seconds 😅

If you spend all your time making money you don't have time to spend with family and helping others! And how you use your money is important as well! Use it to help others! And Billions of people live in poverty so they have no chance of making money! 3 billion to be adzact! Then you have billions of people working for 5dollars a day to make us rich! the superyachts industry creates thousands of jobs
LaMar Winstead 1st owns the World of yatching.😊
Another thing is, that calling this living, considering situation in the world, can bring person to very strange existence understanding. For example, becoming a client of illegal transplantation business, or something like that (8000000 kids counted missingin USA last, 2023, year). From another side, sharing 10mil $, needed to hold such yacht per year, between 5000 factory workers, it will make only about 2000$ per person. Not so much.🤔
The final question: What is that actually you are seeking ?
CONspicuous Profligacy
Another Cons Piracy of by for PrivaTeers.
And now we see how in 20 years THEY burned through more of the earth and its creativity then they did in the past 400 and will do so again in the next 10, if alive.
Who? Same as anyone else would; A mega yacht...Name someone that would turn down the winning lottery #'s, and I will show you a liar...Both you, and myself would do the same if we could afford it...Maybe not as big, but the same principal would apply...Loved how he said "new wives; new lives..."
@@brentfarvors192 yes, I would love to buy if I can afford it, but the question is, which one and for what purpose. and if purpose is changing every year to sell the old one and buy a new bigger one then most possibly one is really missing something else in life. Or they are considering themselves as a child and these things just as a toy to play with for some time 😊.
@@brentfarvors192I thought the new wives comment was revolting.
Do you need a 250ft yacht? Do you need 4 handbags, or more than one pair of shoes?

I would not want the captain of a super yacht in a sea storm
He is paid to avoid them...He strategically positions them to avoid them...
6:28 sigh
What's with the quality? I see it's a 2024 doc but it looks older than Biden's teeth.
This is sailing?
I would suggest a form of "motorboating", while on a big boat...? Hint: The #1 requested item, is a see through shower...

the boat Bayesian sink in Met. Bad vibe for sea lovers. Titanic , Boeing, the Russian empire.
That will have zero effect on super yachts as a whole.
What it will do, hopefully, is to place more stringent practices for the use of retractable keels, height of masts, COG, etc. So, a combination of yachting practices and yacht designs - specifically, sailing super yachts.
Yep, pretty f-ing disgusting when you think of it. Don't get me wrong, I like to have more money but this is just f-king ridiculous.

Seeing as how %10 of 1 billion, is 100 million (average dividend reimbirsments annually)...
😎
i said turn the fckn lights on when your not home
That move to seize the boats of Russian oligarchs was really ill informed, whoever came uo with that idea was dumb
They know...Honestly, can't see this ending any way but horribly...Yachts today, international flights, tomorrow...

Funny how taxpayers pay for so much stuff. But have such small say in the use of the pay.

Taking russian boats is illegal ❤
So is invading a peaceful sovereign nation and committing war crimes

Which, is why it never happens...Anyone with $ enough to afford one, isn't too keen on ethics...And, people "get lost at sea", all the time...

Nobody wants to buy a yacht that belongs to someone else.

Sure they do...Re-sell them all the time...Marine salvage is almost a mega buisiness on it's own. Especially in the US.

The biggest Yachts were the Russian ones, though they no longer come here due to Sanctions, nevertheless the Russian Economy is only roaring, so expect even bigger Russian Yachts calling here,
Russians are more bothered about their mistreated Ethenic people than their Yachts,
I feel sorry for these people.
Why? They certainly don't feel "sorry"...Nor, do they GAF how you feel about them...
@@brentfarvors192 I feel sorry for them because they’re most likely like you. Completely narcissistic, LOL!
Speaking of narcissism, why is your handle 'vanityfair'? Favorite mag? 😂
Yachts are job creators? And you, the producers, writers, and screen personalities of "The Whole Story" disingenuously regurgitate that spin to your viewers. Get some self respect.
it creates jobs for chefs thjat work on the boat, maintenance crew, captain, co-captain etc which wouldn't have those jobs.
It would be just as accurate (or inaccurate) to call the boats "job destroyers" because of all the job markets that are now reduced due to $50 million being pulled from the economy to finance a billionaires house boat.
u want a boat krista u know dad will hook u up horizon v68
It's great seeing them spend hundreds of millions of dollars on a boat 😅 and even though they must hate it by dummies being parted from their money they are helping employ hundreds of people just to maintain and supply and fuel their boats
P.T. was right only now it's every 10 seconds 😅
I'm sure they stay up nights, drying their tears with $100 bills...
It's crazy just how different life is for a poor person like me compared to a rich person who owns a $200+ million yacht... I just wish I could afford to eat some days...

"inequality" 😂. Work hard like Elon Musk, Ray Dalio, Jeff Bezos, Stevie Cohen, Grant Cardone, Larry Ellison... The difference between them and you "the poor" is that they never give up. And they start from SCRATCH.

If you spend all your time making money you don't have time to spend with family and helping others! And how you use your money is important as well! Use it to help others! And Billions of people live in poverty so they have no chance of making money! 3 billion to be adzact! Then you have billions of people working for 5dollars a day to make us rich!
