Hi.. Thank you for another fun trip... Our 2 daughters were born in Escondido ! 1987 & 1992. Time flies...ENJOY where you're at, right here, right now !! It flies by so fast. 7 Grandkids now.
Oh this is lovely! I can't see how one's mood can't possibly be brightened instantly upon seeing this. The vibrancy and reflective nature of it in parts is beautiful. I never heard of this artist but will for sure be looking up other sculptures. I love it.
Yet another fabulous venue I didn't know existed. I really enjoyed this one. It reminds me of the designs and mirrors often stitched into Eastern Indian clothing and textiles.
Very cool! That’s interesting that it’s hotter inside the circle than outside due to all the mirrors and reflective surfaces. That maze you showed at the beginning also looks pretty cool. I liked the night sky mural on the underside of the central statue.
Yeah, it was a hot day to start with but it was noticeably hotter in the circle. There were a group of girls who were probably taking pictures for Instagram and they had to keep heading out to take breaks.
I have watched all of your California videos and I love them. You’ve given me ideas of new places to explore. I love this one, and I’ve visited this park. I’m interested in the history of California, and have a fascination with all things Califia. (Name checks out). Thank you for continuing to inspire. I’m a huge fan of your channel!
What beautiful sculpture art! Giving a little history about Califa and the artist would have added some context to the video's subject. I will definitely check this out next time in the Escondido area!
Oh man! You nailed it. The beautiful colors and whimsical design along with the intricacies of the making process are spectacular. Your camera did a GREAT job of capturing the essence of this place. I would love ❤️ to lie down under that shimmering blue mosaic of the night sky and listen to Mikes Davis in my headphones 🎧. Awesome.😎 I’m an art school graduate. I paint and do mixed media. My favorite artist is Jean Michael Bascquait. If you’ve seen his work you understand why I love 💕 this place. It’s on my list when I get to California. Thanks for sharing. 👍☮️🌞💖
I grew up near this area In Escondido. Back in the 70’s before this area became Kit Carson Park we used to ride our Moto Cross Bikes around a homemade track. It was a great place to ride.
We lived in Esco for 8 years, and only got to go inside this a couple times. The weird hours are courtesy of vandals who destroyed a lot of it, so it needed extensive repairs. It was completely closed for a long time (maybe a couple years).
Wow, she was a wild and crazy lady! No disrespect meant. Did she have other art predating this park? The early Spanish explorers didn't explore the Sea of Cortez between the Baja peninsula and the Mexican coast and believed the San Francisco peninsula was the northern end of the island named California. The first Mission in Baja was established in 1697.
Yes, this was actually her last work. She has art all throughout the world and I believe there is a museum dedicated to her in Japan as well. She spent her last few years in the San Diego area so there are a few of her other pieces around San Diego, but from what I understand most of her art is in Europe.
Definitely leaving a like for covering this, but I'll never understand modern "art". I remember in my childhood ( 50+ years ago ) Kit Carson Park had a slide in that general area. I loved that thing. It was shaped like a giant sombrero and on a hill at an angle. You went up to the top of the hill, stepped through the opening, and could slide down one side of the hat or the other. If someone was with you, there'd be a race to see whose side got down to the bottom faster. Ultimately it was removed because one person claimed racism or whatever. All I know is we kids thought it was fun and no one ever mentioned a thing about race. It was just fun. ....now we have this. Okay.

I'd seen her art before, but never knew who the artist was before looking into this. Was pretty surprised to learn just how popular she was.

Glad you enjoyed it. Yes, it does look a lot like that!
Wow… this is amazing! I work in Escondido and can’t wait to check it out! Thanks ❤️
I’ve been thinking of going there, and after seeing your video I definitely will!

What colors and definitely beautiful art. This and your last episode of the dolls are on the edge. Thanks!
Thank you so much!
This sculpture is so special.

I've never heard of this! I don't get down that way very often, but next time, I'll check it out!
New to your channel!! What a interesting place!! Thanks for bringing us around!! Looking forward to checking out more!!
Thanks for watching!
Have always seen this over the fence when i play #16 at the disc golf course 💪🔥
Neat place!

It's terrible people would do that. I wish they'd open at times that are easier for most people to visit though.
Interesting.
Looks like an amazing place! 🤩 would a photographer be able to shoot it from the outside since the exhibit has such strange hours? 🤔
You might be able to see the tops of some of the statues but you can't see much. There is a huge fence so you can't get very close when it is closed.
Gotcha. Thanks for letting me know 🙏🏽

There is a show of her earlier works at mcasd La Jolla for the next few weeks
Is there a fee to visit the place?

Gained a year from the last adventure…only 2 years away from the present…
Imagine some future archeologist unearthing this marvel and trying to deduce its purpose.
when i was in high school my friends and i would hide here and smoke pot
