  • The Deer Park Winery and Auto Museum is located a few miles north of Escondido off Old Highway 395 and Interstate 15. The museum boasts of having the largest convertible car collection in the world, and we have no reason to doubt them after visiting. Their collection is impressive to say the least. They have vehicles ranging from the 1800s to the 1980s at the museum, plus tons of other stuff including vintage radios, televisions, neon signs, and even a Barbie collection.
Located near the Lawrence Welk Resort, the Deer Park Winery and Auto Museum is a true hidden gem in San Diego County and definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.
The Deer Park Winery and Museum's website can be found here: www.deerparkwin...
The address for the museum is 29013 Champagne Blvd. Escondido, California 92026.

Oh wow! I can’t tell you how many times I have driven past the Lawrence Welk retirement development never realizing this fantastic auto collection was there for the public to view. Thank you so much for doing this video. I will definitely make it a point to visit.

Had no idea this was there?! I drive by there fairly regularly and I am a big fan of both cars and Americana items. Definitely going to be heading there! Thanks for the information.

Finally a place I’ve been before you ha. I went to a car show here about 15 years ago - great to see its eclectic as ever! Beautiful spot in the hills, not to mention a wine taste and take a bottle home for dinner ha. I especially like the “Ford for 1942!” banner - of course things changed in December ‘41. Well done man, a special and relaxing place for sure!

When I Lived in Escondido, this place didn't exist! Highway 395 was the main drag! What gives me a really weird feeling, is seeing things in a museum that are much younger than me! My folks owned a small ranch out near where Leo Carrillo had his ranch. ALWAYS MISSED Escondido! Unbelievable how it has grown!

I have lifed through much of that era. My dad once had a 48 Packard. It would pass every thing on the road at that time except the gas station. We also had a 52 Studebaker Starliner. I all used or heard many of the radios on display, also TV's. Love it.

But the gas was only 19 cents a gallon

Thanks, Steve, appreciate it all the more since you admit that you aren't into cars. As I am, doubly appreciated, tocayo.

Yet another WOW! I feel like I have been asleep for 30 years, the amount of time I have lived in this area. You keep showing me stuff that I have not seen or even knew about. My list is growing of things I have to see. I have driven by where this place is many times and had no clue. And unlike you I am a huge car buff and will love seeing this place. Again thanks for posting this. Jim

The reason wood was used on cars was not so much for looks but In WW 2 the war effort used all the steel so the few cars that were built used wood where they could.

I don't remember exactly, between $5 and $10 when we went. It wasn't much and they had packages that came with wine tasting.

If they really wanted to make things interesting, they could sell some of the cars or memorabilia after visitors take a visit through the winery. 😂 Definitely an unique pairing!

I kind of wondered if anyone ever drank too much wine and caused any issues.
