- The Grand Canyon West Rim and Hover Dam is a fantastic day trip from Las Vegas! We rented a car and took a day long trip to see these magnificent wonders of the world! The Grand Canyon West Rim is not part of the Grand Canyon National Park system like the North and South Rims. It is part of the Hualapai Nation, and is probably best known for the Grand Canyon Skywalk, a platform that sticks out over the Grand Canyon with a see-through floor. You will need to pay a separate entrance fee (we have a link to the website below) to see the West Rim but it is spectacular and a MUST SEE!
The Grand Canyon West Rim consists of three main areas, Eagle Point, where the skywalk is, Guano Point ( the BEST Views!) and Hualapai Point. We didn't get the opportunity to visit Hualapai Point as the park was closing but we have a link below to the West Rim information to see if it's something you would like to visit. Grand Canyon West Rim features things you won't find at the National Park such as a biplane and helicopter rides to the bottom!
Hoover Dam is only a little over 30 mins from Las Vegas and is a site to see! Constructed 80+ years ago, it serves the US in the fields of irrigation, flood control, and power production. Here we explored
the Mike O'Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge that spans the Colorado River between the states of Arizona and Nevada and drove over the Dam to get a closer look!

Thank you! 😃
Just purchased a bus tour from Vegas to conclude the last day of our vacation in May. The total for two tickets on Orbitz was 390 which will include the skywalk if anyone is curious.
Thanks for the info!
We’re going on a tour to the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam and Skywalk. It’s $152 per person. We’re going with Viator
@@Mdw201 you will thoroughly enjoy it!
Nice! Is this a British car with driver on the Left?🎉
No, just the video giving a mirrored effect
Hello guys, how far is the west rim from Vegas?
Depending on where you start in Vegas it will be around 2 hours & 15 mins. If you leave early like around 8 in the morning you will have more than enough time to get there and see everything. Hope this helps!
I really enjoyed the video .Great Post!.. Here are the questions I have before going,,because I can' t find the answers online anywhere. Once you leave Hoover Dam and head to the west rim.. Is there anyplace to stop and see the canyon without going all the way into the reservation. We have group from Canada coming--NONE of them want to do the Skywalk.. and we don't really have time to go though that whole thing with the shuttle buses. They would just like to look down and see the river. If you can't see the canyon without going into the Tribal lands--how much is it per person.. Thanks in advance.. and again ..thank you for sharing your experience.
Thanks for the questions. No, we don't believe there are any places to see the canyon on the west side without paying the entrance fee. Not sure about the North or South Rims but I believe those are under National parks and will also require a fee to enter. The entrance price for the West rim was in the low $50 range per person from what we remembered. There are also buses that will take you from places like Las Vegas as a package if you don't have a car. Here is the link to the ticket prices for the West Rim.

Beautiful video. I will be in Las Vegas in May and would love to visit the Grand Canyon. The only problem, I am afraid of heights. Are there locations that are not so elevated that I can still get nice views of the canyon?
I don't like heights either. I think if you stay away from the edge and far enough back you should be ok. Eagles point shouldn't be a problem, Guano Point goes out into a peninsula so you could stay back from the edge and see a lot but not quite everything.
@@WanderingHewitts Thank you very much for your response. I will take your advice . I am looking forward to the exoerience.
Loved the grand canyon, and tour guide telling us about the waulapai natives ,so interesting 😊
