INGREDIENTS
- saltine crackers to cover pan
- 16 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 cup light brown sugar
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 ½ cups chopped toasted pecans (optional)
- kosher salt to taste
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat the oven to 375°F. Butter a 10×14 jelly roll pan and place the crackers in the bottom on a single layer. Set the pan aside.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the brown sugar, stir, and return the saucepan to medium heat. Bring the mixture to a boil and cook for 5 minutes to dissolve the sugar.
- Once cooked, remove the caramel from the heat and pour over the prepared crackers evenly. Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake until the toffee is bubbling all over, 6-8 minutes. Remove the pan from the oven. The crackers could be floating. Use a knife to place them correctly. Allow the toffee to cool for 1 minute. Sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly on top. Allow the chocolate to melt for 1-2 minutes and spread it to cover the caramel layer evenly. Sprinkle with chopped pecans and kosher salt if using.
- Cool the toffee to room temperature, 1-2 hours. Once cooled, break into pieces and serve or store in an airtight container.

From my farm to your home. 🏡
My name is Kaleb Wyse and here, you will find delicious recipes, videos from my farm, garden, and fun home projects. My knowledge has been earned from years of home cooks and farmers in my family. wyseguide.com
A farm is much more than a house to live in; it’s a lifestyle. My passion for gardening and landscaping came from outdoor work with my mom in our expansive farm yard, my love for baking came from innumerable short walks to my grandma’s house to make cookies, and as a farmer, my dad taught me that we are the stewards of our land.
So whether you live in a city center or have decided rural life is for you, I hope to inspire you with the projects and recipes I use in daily life. We can’t all live on a farm, but we all need farms in our lives. From the dirt in my vegetable garden to the flour in my kitchen, I’ll show you everything I love to do. - แนวปฏิบัติและการใช้ชีวิต
You can print the recipe here: www.wyseguide.com/easy-saltine-toffee/
I love the fact that no matter what recipe you are making you always completely clean out the bowl/pan.
Never made toffee in my life but I think I’ll start making this a Christmas tradition 🥰🎄
I know this as Christmas Crack…addictive!!!
Yes it is ADDICTIVE! 🤤
Kaleb, thank you for always using a spatula to get the last drop! That is how I watched my Grandma(my Dad's Mom), my Nanny(my Mom's Mom), and my Mom get the last drop from everything! So many cooking on youtube these days are not utilizing a spatula, leaving so much behind. There was always a saying too. "Waste not, want not"! Have never made or heard of this recipe(different part of the country, maybe), but looks so yummy! Merry Christmas 🎄🦌🕯️📯⛄❄️☃️😊❤
Wow love this will make it😄❤️❤️❣️🥇🇺🇸
Totally agree! Drives me crazy seeing how they lived half of the ingredients behind. 😊
Only one that always does is Martha Stewart. And Caleb 🥰
That's what we call Christmas Crack 😂 I love it thank you for showing the recipe
I love it when you say “ let’s make some”. That should be your tag line
Great recipe, i make one similar, but heath bar makes a bag of bits i get mine at Walmart in the baking section. I just sprinkle mine on top of the crackers, and bake on 350 10-15min till done.
I make this using mini Pretzels...so good! Some call this Christmas Crack or Brickle! I also sprinkle non pareils/cookie sprinkles on top,...or my Peppermint Dust that I found at Home Goods!
My mom used to make this without chocolate. She called it Nutcracker candy. It had Keebler Club Crackers, Sliced almonds, butter, sugar, etc. I luv toffee so much.
This looks delicious! It would be a perfect little Christmas gift for teachers, UPS delivery people, or anyone we want to say thank you too.
Ha! What timing! I was just going to make these this morning and then I will done with my Christmas baking. I also love to add flaky salt to the top. Merry Christmas, Kaleb❤
My neighbor made this for me a few years ago and called it crack! Wasn't sure what she meant at first but it was very good. Your recipe is exactly how she made it.
Gotta love a garage fridge! Ours is in northern Michigan. ☺️

Merry Christmas Kaleb. Great choice of candy making video. Blew me away when I first tried this treat. I have also seen this done with graham crackers. They both bring wonderful flavor profiles. Have a blessed holiday season.

One of our favorites

Different kaleb looks delicious though thankyou 💕😄
oh yummy
I've always wanted to try this. I guess I could make it. 🙂
I wish I would have seen this video before I made mine. The toasted pecans on top would be fantastic. I just decorated the top of mine with Christmas sprinkles, it's delicious, but I think those pecans would be better.
Merry Christmas 🎄
I will make these ❤
mmmm my favor thanks for the recipe merry x mas
Excellent 😊😊
Never tried the pecans!!!! This stuff is amazing
I am NOT a cook and can ruin anything(which is why I hate cooking) but I tried this. It was not too bad and looks good. Cooling in the fridge now before I’ll try it. If I could manage this recipe though anyone can. Thanks for sharing!
Merry Christmas
Also, looking at 75 years, and have been making these since my 20's.......
Love this recipe. Kaleb, I first found this recipe in a farm church recipe book. They called it Christmas Crack. I tried it and fell in love with it. Like you said, it is addicting. You can’t eat just one. Lol. Happy New Year.
Wow love this so easy😊⭐️🇺🇸☕️💋🥇🇺🇸
Very Festive 🎄
We call this Christmas Crack (a nod to the saltines and also the fact that you can’t stop with one!).
🥰❤️✅ Merry Christmas 🎅🎁✅ Candy looks so good!
Bacon crumbles would be good on top!!
Yummy ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👋👋👍👍 Yummy
If you want to cut it into even pieces a pizza cutter works super well.
I have made this probably for over 30 years. But I never use the big cars but I will now. I line my pan with foil. But yours looks easy to get out of the pan also. I originally got the recipe from the noon TV, ABC channel when Mr. Food was on it. They are even better than Oreos!
I use Graham Crackers instead of Saltines and line my pan with buttered foil.
❤
Xmas crack😮
I make several batches of this every year (30+), but this year one batch messed up? Although I use white sugar and stir stir stir for 4 min… I think I might try the brown!
@@Dannymiller-fu6nx yeah…
Can you substitute white sugar for brown sugar?
Absolutely! Some recipes for this call for brown sugar rather than white.
1st❤😊❤😊 love toffee
This is what I make, called Christmas crack.
Your kitchen must be quite cool to be wearing a sweater like that?!
The buttwr was separated from the sugar! So i has some butter soaked saltines... why did this happen? Maybe i cooked too long? But it never bubbled like his did. It still tastes good...
🤗👍
Hello 👋 ❤❤❤
Hi, great recipe Kaleb, thank you…..I’m in the UK, we don’t have saltine crackers here, do you, or any of your viewers know what I cold use instead?…..Merry Christmas to all xx🎄👍🏻🎅🧑🏻🎄xx
Pretzels! Lots of recipes use pretzels...so nothing new! Use the small mini ones, that are the 'figure 8' shaped....not the thin stick ones, if you can find!
Maybe a cream cracker like Jacob's or a wafer cracker. They are not as salty, so I would sprinkle the salt on top. You may be able to find an Italian salted cracker that is very similar to saltines in Waitrose or another more upscale supermarket.
I’ve seen it made using salted pretzels. Some call it “Christmas Crack”!
Thanks so much , great ideas for me @squisitissima2810 and @clicquot2271 much appreciated, Merry Christmas 🎄
But what's the ratio?
my chocolate didn't melt well :(
Very addictive which it’s not good
PECANS (not cars!)
Betcha it’s good, but it would stick to my teeth!😚
