He basically wrote the scripts for the 3 TG stooges, so..... funny guy (and much better in person IMO than on the podcasts where he can sound a bit snippy)
Tara Browne, mentioned in the art car section towards the end, who had the painted Cobra, was in fact a chap and also the heir to the Guinness Fortune. He was killed in his Lotus Elan, in London in the 60s and was immortalised in The Beatles tune 'A Day in the life' with the lyric "He blew his mind out in a car..."
You two are brilliant together, the knowledge, the storytelling, the goofy British banter the we all love to listen to and, of course, the beautiful autos. Quickly becoming one of my favorite car channels. The Fiat X/19 was my favorite - you never see them in pristine, auto show condition.
Not nearly long enough, I could listen to and watch these two waffle on about cool cars for hours. And I do! They have an excellent podcast, Smith & Sniff. 😊
My all time favorite Lambo is the Silhouette. I've been obsessed since I was a kid in the 80's. I've never seen this red one before. I know that Curated in Miami sold one a couple years ago. I've never seen the Aston Martin tractor or the prototype BMW before. Great episode. Very cool! Thank you.
Hi 👋 Greetings from New Zealand. Excellent car display. The Fiat X19 , the Lamborghini Espada , and the Alfa Romeo Montreal are my favorites there. Stunning vechiles. All them from the 1970s when cars were made with style.
Wow stunning. Those cloth physics look spot on its actually easy to forgot that your not watching a recording of somebody in real life if you just watch the t shirt especially with the lighting at the end 🫡
Back in late 80's/ early 90"s, I restored a P250S Urraco ; had it resprayed in that gorgeous metallic blue colour. Huge pangs of regret selling it when the going got tough ( financially). Loved seeing on the lawn. Took me back 40 years in time!
My car-mad son and I attended Goodwood this year for the first time. What a fantastic event. We saw this collection and were surprised how small the Countach seemed in the flesh. I guess cars have become a bit bloated over time.
Other way round for me, went with the Oldman we are both car mad, out first time too, we abslolutely loved it. Enjoyed it more than th grand Prix and been too a few
they "bloat"with every new model......bigger and BIGGER....and now (all electric) heavy, heavier and really HEAVY..... Colin Chapman is not a happy Chap......
Guy down the road from me has an XR3i. Back when me and my mates were tooling round in things like that, the Mk3 Escort was a fairly decent sized car... now it is flipping tiny
Didn't imagine would see so many tractors and that actually so many car companies made them, great video and Goodwood FOS just became my bucket list event for next year it's just amazing 😍😍😍🤩😍
As much as I enjoy watching you guys, you are dead wrong on the 3 spoke wheel thing. The classic SAAB 900 SPG and 9000 Aero three spoke wheels are the bomb. I will agree that no one else has really been able to pull them off though.
Bugatti only made four Atlantics, not Atalantes, those were quite a few more. And those were aluminium-bodied, only the prototype Aérolythe was made of "Elektron", a magnesium and aluminium alloy that could be welded but you have to keep the temperature under control or it will spontaneously combust.
Great show again! I had an old Citreon BXGTi, it was on it's last legs. We went to a rave but the road was blocked by the Police, so we backed up, jacked up the suspension and got in using a bridal way! lol :)
Thanks so much for showing the X-19. I went to FOS on Friday and was with a big group and couldn't fit the lawn into our communal schedule, so I was gutted I missed it. I had a 1.5 x-19 rot box in my early twenties and loved it despite all its flaws.
Ford 2000 preforce was part of a beautifully styled range of tractors by Ford...Farmer & racing driver Jim Clark was involved in the global marketing of these tractors also.
Very interesting collection of cars and tractors. I was so lucky to see the Bugatti 57 SC ATlantic Coupe in 2013 at the concours togheter with the Bugatti Royale. The Volkswagen Polo brought back sweet memories. My mum had the same car, in orange and it has been the car in wich I've learned to park at a closed parking beside my parents house before passing for my drivingtest in 1978. The tractors are very interesting, especially the early Lamborghini and the DB but I missed a John Deere.
I feel like the fact that they are on display there means those tractors also cost in the upper six figures at least. (Would be interesting if you could do a video next time finding/showing the cheapest cars on display^^)
Maybe it's just me, but I found the most impressive cars to be the Polo, Beech Buggy, and Citroen BX. Bertone never really did it for me personally. And a lot of the wedge cars just looked too much alike. Often times each one looks worse than the next. There are a few exceptions to the wedge style, but again, personally never a style that was a hit for me. I also remember when the Bugatti went up on auction. Everyone was so hyped because it was one of 4. I never seen the draw to it. Rare isn't always great. I know a lot of people love the lines and curves of those cars, but it just was a BIT over the top to me. One thing I do love about cars in general is that not everyone likes the same things. Some people need that over the top, Cruele DeVille styling, others think a 1990 Chevy Caprice is automotive engineering excellence. And although we may not always understand why someone likes something and doesn't, as long as you remember it's just their opinion and not fact, there's no need to get upset.
Cheers mates

Sweet sweet Goodwood
Please keep Smith and Sniff for all these videos over the years, as they are fantastic hosts.
We agree.
@@ashliehiggins agree totally 👍
If only they'd get out the way of the view...
@@lukemclellan2141think the idea is to get you off your backside and go have a look 😂
Two of the best car reviewers in the country... What a collection, thank you Goodwood.
Lovely, leafy, glorious, delightful Goodwoods's
Richard Porter just cracks me up. His delivery to camera is spot on. Well done chaps.

I dont know what i enjoy more, amazing cars with hilarious and informative chat or watching the sheer shock and evasive manoeuvres of the public 😂
My goodness that Lambo Silhouette is gorgeous.
Agreed.

the magic word is "rust".....
@@stratman9449 yes, sadly true for many cars of this era - but the X/19 was a very pretty thing (in my humble opinion)
"It looks like a disappointed but not angry robot." One of the most accurate statements there is.
"Harry Metatarsal..."
Thanks; now my keyboard is doused in coffee...
That cliché is as bad as 'underrated'..
As always, a fabulous commentary from Smith & Sniff.
The depth of knowledge on some of the older cars is amazing.
The sixtiesssssss
Smith and Sniff really need to be on proper TV, they are great presenters. Sweet, sweet guys.
I was there, not often a Citroen BX or Mehari is rarer than the 5 Zondas or Bug 75’s! Sweet sweet cars.
I wish Johnny and Richard would do more videos together.
This guy is great why haven’t I seen him anywhere else on TH-cam??

This was great, I think a video of Jonny and Rich simply walking around a car boot sale would be a hoot.
Really need to get to FOS one of these summers...Thanks to everyone responsible for these videos..
That sweet sweet polo is lovely
Jonny, it’s pronounced plan air not pline. Loving the top shelf car spotting.
Hi 👋 Greetings from New Zealand. Excellent car display. The Fiat X19 , the Lamborghini Espada , and the Alfa Romeo Montreal are my favorites there. Stunning vechiles. All them from the 1970s when cars were made with style.
Experienced it in person - A beautiful lawn of vehicles. Memorable indeed.
Jonny and Richard at Goodwood, pointing at cars and spouting obscure, humorous trivia? Utter car content heaven, impossible to better, OTSOT.
Nearly skipped the lawn - but noticed the Lambo Diablo which then led us to the group of 5x Pagani Zondas. Unreal.

Mr Porter knows his BXs!
I remember driving a Ford 3000 as a kid in the 70s. Scraping cow slurry from the steading into the midden. HS&E was different in those days. 😂

The rear pillar on that Polo is really reminiscent of the same on the 308 GT4. Nice.

Totally agree @16Tango. Several three-spoke Saab wheels look very cool.
Saab 3 spokes are Jonny's guilty pleasure
That wicker seat Fiat 500 is absolutely magnificent.
I love how the square led proportions of Polo are contrasted with the circular headlights. Same thing on the Fox I believe? Fun styling.
My first car was a mk 1 POLO. BDC 761T - I would love to see that car again. 900cc I think. A brilliant little car

The duo we didnt know we needed
Guys, love the tractor coverage 👏 - I would probably be sidestepping the Bugattis to get to them as well....

A Maserati Khamsin? I've never heard of it. It's beautiful.
I spent quite a bit of time on the Cartier lawn last weekend. Sweet, sweet cars and tractors. The flanges on that Bugatti were spectacular.
Livedrive 6 were great in the 60s. It was a different time
Amazing band live. They had real pizazz
Smith and Sniff do tractors ..... OTT(tractor)SOT... Blows my mind

The 880 SELECTAMATIC love it.
my mates dad had an x19 we loved posing in it !
For Americans the classic tractor is the green tractor with yellow wheels, they did it long before Lotus adopted the color scheme.
AKA the John Deere colors.

Atlantic not Atalante
Atalante not Atlanté

Great to see the vintage tractors getting some attention
Those lambo wheels give me xr3i and Alfa vibes 😉

Nice show. I wish they had classic cars like these in South Korea 🇰🇷 and here in Singapore🇸🇬.
Ahh yes, concours! Meticulous attention to detail, the bet of the bet!
New BMW electric class, the Annoya class? That BMW 2002ti introduced the Bucky Beaver grill.
I appreciate and endorse your feelings on the three spoke wheel.
Nice Pretty Green Johnny 👌🏻
I have a Renault tractor, comes with a 'wine chiller' very French! 🇫🇷 🤌🏻
They should have had a VW Thing amongst those beach cars. I might be biased.😊
Lol, I said the exact same magnesium fact to my mate looking at that car on Thursday.
Really enjoying these videos, thank you Goodwood.
Monterey car week is without a doubt the best concours

Some of those tractors were lovely. After all, it was different times back in the 1960s……
D&B doesn't stand for Drum n Bass? Well then why is the tractor called the SELECTAmatic, eh Jonny? That concours is MASSIVE
This is the best spot at the FoS.
Best tractor channel in the world😅

We had a couple David Browns Too. 1200 and more.
Brilliant!
You keep inviting me to come down to something in the past. I wish I could’ve been there. Why do I have to work?
What was the purple car before the tractors? Shame they didn't look at that one.
Vw type 181 Acapulco Thing had tassles on its top.
That Meyers Manx has late 60’s Chev wheels like those on a Camaro or Chevelle, never seen that before.
That buggy had classic Corvette wheels on it.

To me the best cars in the world have imperfections from being driven and enjoyed. Too much 'art' to little enjoyment of the open road.
Big to differ, the pure 1975 Countach is the most beeautiful car ever made. That or the Ferrari 250 GTO
Cant wait for bertone badge on the 18y old older hyundai compacts that havent rotted or destroyed
