Just picked up my 2022 CLA 45 AMG two weeks ago. I had a good sense of what I was getting myself into through your videos, but finally getting to own and drive one regularly has been a dream come true. The driving experience is indescribable. I hope more people buy this car, thanks to you. It's worth every penny.
Hi Adam, another great video - thanks! Earlier this year I went and purchased a C43 with no regrets. At about the same time, a mate purchased a CLA45 also with no regrets. Perhaps a video for the future using some of your new and old footage comparing the two and what some of the main differences are and why someone might choose one over the other? Perhaps 5 reasons to select a C43 and 5 reasons to select the CLA45s? And I love the emotion you show in your videos - nothing wrong with being a bid kid with a huge smile!!!
Hey Joe, C43 is a brilliant car I'm so lucky to of had one and it will always be a special car to me since it all started the channel :) Great to hear you are enjoying yours. You made a great choice as we won't be seeing as many of these great V6's in the future. That's a great idea for a video thanks! I think il always be comparing my CLA45s to the C43 because I loved the C43 so much!
I was thinking the same.. I have an E43.. love it but needs a bit more emotion.. trying to work out if I should tune it or not or change to A45s .. mmmmm
Watching your videos makes me fall in love with my CLA220 all over again. And I had only gotten it 6 months ago, and still, every time I look at it, the feeling is unbelievable! Thank you so much!
Brilliant vid looks like endless fun I defo need 1 of these soon , my c63 is fast and torque is strong, but car is very smooth making it lack in drama unless you really chuck it around the corners still amazing car though 👍
First off, the quality of this video is top shelf - not sure how big his budget was but I'm guessing it's not massive and even then I think it rivals the quality of big budget videos so much so that I enjoyed watching the video even though I don't really like the car, (and even owning a Benz myself I'd have to say that holds true of most current Mercs). Probably the most important thing he said in this entire clip is here at 07:17. After growing up during the Duke Of Hazzard years I got an ear for a V8 and that has never really left me. I like a V10, a 5, A6 and a 12 but I've never liked a 4, (except the characterful Subaru Boxer). This fella seems pretty genuine and I admire that.
Thank you for your nice comment. Reading comments like this means so much to me. It's true I don't have the biggest budget for videos, I invest a lot of time and money into having the best equipment I can because It's such a passionate and fun hobby of mine, I truly love making these videos! I can understand your feeling towards the modern cars after growing up in the Duke of Hazard years! I'm split down the middle here I love the modern cars but I admit you can't beat a classic big thirsty engine! I would love to bring a second car onto the channel one day if I can afford it. An older project car with a big thirsty V8 or more! Perhaps one of the older generation AMG's. Thanks again for your comment and for watching :)
Awesome video mate. My hatchback should be in Australia around the middle of the year. Can't wait. Looking forward to the look of terror on your BH's face when you floor it.
It’s amazing this CLA45 for nowadays. I love C43 coupe perhaps start to hace oldfashioned tech… but definitive V6 sound better that future 4pots machine 🥲
Hi Adam, various testers have had the cla45s 0-100km/h (0-60mph) in 3.7 sec, so yes it's seriously fast. I have the previous cla45 (face lift version) at the moment, but will be ordering the cla45s within the next week (so excited)... Keep up the great vids..!
Great video, awesome sound from the CLA 45s. I was wondering you could do a gopro headcam for another viewing angle, it would feel as though the viewer is driving lol, just a suggestion tho :)
Loved the video and content. Great car and great colour. Mine was ordered back in September so I probably still have another 5 months before get to see it!! CANT WAIT :)
Hi, I love your channel, which I came across while searching for 45 S videos. I placed an order for a brand new CLA 35 AMG and the car should arrive this month. After watching endless videos on the 45 S, I’m seriously thinking to upgrade and place an order for a new one and cancel the 35. As a new owner of the 45 S, what would you advise me to do? I love how you built your car. Drive safe and keep having fun
Hey Sean, The CLA35 is a fun car but I do think the 45s is on another level. The hand built AMG engine is very special, I'm working on a video all about the engine at the moment and the engineering really is incredible. There's also so much more dynamics with the 45s. One thing to keep in mind is that the 45s is more of a pure AMG while the 35 is more of an AMG enhanced car. Not to take anything away from the 35 as it has plenty of power and it a really fun car to own and drive though. It's a tricky one really, the lower cost and fun factor of the 35 is very attractive but if you want the absolute best version the 45s is significantly better.
@@ABAUTOAMG Thank you very much for your detailed reply. I can’t agree more with you and I am planning to go visit my local dealership in Dubai and see how much the 45 S I want to configure will cost and then make a decision. Look forward to more content on your channel and wish you many wonderful years with your new baby
Great video mate. I really love your content. I have ordered mine last month but unfortunately there is a 6 month wait before I get it delivered. Can’t wait. Meanwhile I am enjoying your videos :D
Ah thank you! Sorry to hear the long wait but a huge congrats, it will be so worth the wait! Hopefully my videos help while you wait! Feel free to ask any questions in comments if there's anything you'd like to know about the car too! :)
Thanks Dee, the downside of having so much power is you have to stop so soon to not break the speed limits, really wanted to keep going here but had to keep taking my foot off! Can't wait to get on the track and some private roads to really test the power!
Picking up my 45s shooting brake next Tuesday.....the wait is finally over , love your enthousiasm ❤ I'm exactly the same , hardly sleeping and have 69hrs of waiting left 🤣🤣🤣
Where do you go to take the car on a track, I have a C43 Stage 1 and a MST induction kit, dyno before the air induction kit was 415hp on a W205 2018 model, and the effect increasing the cold air intake
Good to see the car unlocked..... how did you get on with a race start? i found it a bit fiddly if you have not done about 10 miles first, even though the car seems to temp, it wont let you do it until it says so! but rewarding all the same once there. Are you aware of any pumped in sound options? to turn it down etc?
I have not tried it yet! I want to find a safe road and film my first reaction for a video 😁 Yep there is some options to turn any pumped sound off completely I think. I don't mind it though since its the real sound being pumped in.

Nice video, question your version is it 420 Hp? I believe the CLA Amg 45 here in Canada will have only 382bhp, same engine no? Which package did you pick?
Hey, Thanks! We have the S model here in the UK which is actually 421 HP total, the non S model has 382 HP. For some reason they don’t make the S model in America/Canada no idea why! The 382 HP non S is still a great car though!
Thanks Vikas! Almost there! 😁 So far race still has pretty solid traction. As I get more used to the car il start to push and test these more and more :)
@@ABAUTOAMG I stuck it into sport + for a couple of mins today 😬 quickly realised that it’s almost impossible to keep it under 4K rpm so switched it back to comfort 🙈
Great video. Liked and subscribed! Found this channel because I am looking into buying a CLA Estate. Why is it the CLA estate interior seems to be behind other MB models? I am looking at 2017 year. Sorry for the noob question. I am new to all this.
Hey DHIIT, Thanks for the comment and sub! For the CLA and A class the previous models interior was not the best, they upped there game on these models and made a much nicer quality and modern interior with a complete redesign in 2019. So the 2019-2022 models are much nicer inside. Hope this helps.
@@ABAUTOAMG I see, I thought it was because the technology trickled down later to lower class models like some other brands do. Thank you for taking time to reply.

I can't afford it, but I am genuinely obsessed with this car. I keep searching and watching videos of it. I am an Audi fan, and would gladly pick the RS3 Sedan over any car... except this one.
hey, i dont drive yet but its soemething im looking forward to. i jus want to ask is driving fun in general or do you have to have a sporty car for it to be fun
Hey! Driving is great fun. Honestly no matter what car you start off with it will be fun when you first start! :) Your probably better to start of slow and work your way up. I learned to drive in a 60hp Fiesta and it was a blast!
@Mark Nicholls Hey Mark, Did you check to see if the car had the active dampering option? I think it's an option on some of the A35s so this could be why you did not feel much difference. The suspension on the A35 is very different to the 45s so it's tricky to compare the too also.
@@ABAUTOAMG does that mean that the cla45s is a bumpier ride than the A 200? I really love the whole package the cla,45s offers but m worried about the ride. My local dealer doesn't have one to test drive so really sucks
@@jenleeph74 Ah yes I’m afraid you will find the 45s much bumpier and the steering will be much stiffer than the a200. The AMGs are setup to be much harsher and stiffer on the road. If your price range can stretch to the 45s and your looking for something comfortable I recommend checking out the E class, they are designed to be much smoother rides.
Idk 🤷🏻♂️ about the CLA AMG. Maybe I’m not used to a 4 banger sound. C43 AMG got more better sounds in Sport+ and upshift sounds way better to than CLA. All AMG cars are beast!
It's a really fun car but you can't beat the classic V8+ sounds. Absolutely loving the car so far though but would love to have a project car as a second car with a big thirsty loud engine. Hopefully in the near future!
Great question! To be honest I’ve not fully tested this but perhaps we can do a video where we can test this and some other quirks with the gear box. In the C43 if you let it hit redline you feel the safety come into play and you get a power cut for a second then it shifts automatically but il test this on the CLA45s and see if it responds differently In each drive mode.
Honest opinion please: How does the AMG performance seats feels like? I'm about to order one with AMG High-End Performance seats... but I'm scared they would be uncomfortable since im 100 kg/185 height? What are your measurements and how do you feel those performance seats?
Hi Nikola, I am going to be making a full detailed review video of the performance seats which will hopefully be really helpful. It’s tricky to say how you will find them because we are all so different but il try my best with my own personal experience. I am 5”10 85kg and I absolutely love the seats. They are definitely harder than the normal seats but I find them nice to sit in. I have a few back issues and this is the first car I’ve ever owned where I have not experience any back pain so far. The way I see it is you can buy a nice big soft office chair and it is great to sit in and comfortable but once you start doing some proper work for a long time it’s not so comfortable, the more finer but ergonomic office chairs are much better over time. This has been the case for me with the performance seats. Because they hold me in place so we’ll and keep my back in a good supported position I think it’s really helped. This is just my own personal experience. My advice would be to try and find some to sit in and test. If your ordering your car from factory you could order with them then while waiting find a car to sit in then if you don’t like them you could change your order. Hope this all helps.
@@ABAUTOAMG it was really helpful, thank you so much. I guess i will try with the performance seats, however my dealer offers two options one is performance advance which cost 3k euro and the other is performance high end which cost 4500 euro and I cant find any info about the differences …
Thanks Isaac, It was not too bad since the cold winter dark drives home are a bit chilled this time of the year. Running this in during the summer would of killed me though! I'm very excited for Summer 2022, gonna have some great drives!
Please please please if you do launch control, check also how fast the car is at 0-60 mph (0-100 kph) without launch control 🙏🙏🙏 I am supposed to get my CLA45s in May 2022 and was looking for that information through the entire internet but couldnt find any footage of how fast the car is at 0-100kph without launch control... I would also like to ask, how often can you do launch controls with this car? The guy at the Dealership told me, that after about 40 launch controls you have to replace the entire transmission. Is this true?
Hi Ben, Absolutely! Going to hopefully be doing lots of launch control tests and comparisons with an without in the new year :) That's definitely not true about 40 launch controls, I think someone is pulling your leg there.
Hey Rob, While I was waiting for the car to be built I made a video going through my whole spec and building the car on the Mercedes builder. You can see it here: th-cam.com/video/J1FYhSNhuvE/w-d-xo.html
@@ABAUTOAMG Thanks for this. Just had my CLA 250e Premium delivered without it. Honestly that is not a big deal for me considering waiting for it since May. Wonderful car. Love it. Thanks again.
@@ericboateng7340 Ah, No problem! Congrats on your new car! I was a bit disappointed not to have it because I love tech but honestly after testing it myself now in another car it's really not as useful as I thought it would be so I'm not too bothered missing it. Cool tech though for sure!
They work quite well. You just choose a speed by toggling the button on the steering wheel then you can turn it on and off. Very handy if you're driving through an average speed camera check and don't want to get distracted looking at the speed-o-meter. There's also a button on the steering wheel that not many people know about that I'm going to run through in a video soon. If you double press it, it takes the speed of the road and automatically limits you to the speed limit.
Wanna know how to save 99.9 miles per gallon. Just don't start your car jk but actually. When driving somewhere hilly or somewhere on a nice downhill or just whatever you like put the car in Neutral while driving and won't break the transmission or anything even the car allows you to do that at speed and it puts the engine revs at idle it saves lot of gas. I even do it in my Mercedes and I haven't had any problems.
Hey Dhruv, Before the car arrived I made a video showing my full build on the Mercedes car builder. You can see it here: th-cam.com/video/J1FYhSNhuvE/w-d-xo.html
There seems to be mixed opinions on this online. Ultimately though I’m going to follow the manufactures instructions. Both my AMGs from factory came with big stickers on the inside of the windshield saying to run the engine in the first 1000 miles. Even though it may or may not be needed anymore I’m always going to run my engines in. There’s nothing to loose running an engine In. I think it’s a good way to get used to a powerful car too. It’s not a bad thing to be very familiar and used to the car before driving it hard :)
@ABAUTOAMG the main point is too many people don't understand how "breakin" (ring sealing) actually works. You have to load the rings relatively aggressively (that doesn't mean go to a dyno) with periodic bursts of hard throttle right away, with a cool down period (cold weather is ideal). Worst thing anyone can do is drone down the freeway to "get some miles". With all that said I believe the RS3 engine is run on a dyno straight from the factory and Mercedes may do this as well. Side note Audi has no breakin restrictions whatsoever, either forced rev limits (BMW) or guidelines. My oil and filter at 800 miles looked amazingly clean (prefer to do my own oil changes)
Ah I understand, The C43 is an amazing car and the V6 sounds awesome. Both cars have great drama and are both fun in there own ways. I would love to get a second project car on the channel in the near future to sit with the CLA45s, a nice thirst older v8 C63 or E63. Fingers crossed this will be possible in the future :)

@Mark Nicholls Hey Mark, Did you check to see if the car had the active dampering option? I think it's an option on some of the A35s so this could be why you did not feel much difference. The suspension on the A35 is very different to the 45s so it's tricky to compare the too also.
is the ride more comfortable than the A class.i find the A class too stiff n bumpy for me. beautiful car
Hey, which model of the A class? The 45s is the hardest and stiffest of all of the A range so this would be much stiffer than say an a200 for example.
@@ABAUTOAMG yup. Tried the A250
A200
@@ABAUTOAMG does that mean that the cla45s is a bumpier ride than the A 200?
Hopefully in the near future!
congratulations
Thank you!
Great car, enjoy it 😊👍❤
Thanks Bogdan, Really enjoying the car and making videos with it, lots more to come! :)
do you have to upshift manually or will the car do it on its own in race mode?
Great question! To be honest I’ve not fully tested this but perhaps we can do a video where we can test this and some other quirks with the gear box. In the C43 if you let it hit redline you feel the safety come into play and you get a power cut for a second then it shifts automatically but il test this on the CLA45s and see if it responds differently In each drive mode.
You should put a ghost on your car recommend for safety
Hey ZORO, Had this fitted the day after I picked it up :) Will be doing a video on Ghost later this year/early next year! Ghost is brilliant.
Can we hear it from outside and in tunnels !? Love it though
Sure, will get James to film me doing some drive byes so we can see how it sounds.
I'd take a road trip every week just to cross that 1k mile threshold. Congrats mate.
Thanks Isaac, It was not too bad since the cold winter dark drives home are a bit chilled this time of the year. Running this in during the summer would of killed me though! I'm very excited for Summer 2022, gonna have some great drives!
@@ABAUTOAMG I guess living in Dominican Republic has its perks of summer driving the entire year 😂
If u have the welcome lights in your spec you could do a night drive video and show the car at night
Hey Stelios, I have some great night drive content I'm working on coming soon!
@@ABAUTOAMG Great! Looking forward to it
ay finally hit those first 1k miles
:D It was well worth the wait
That Porsche sits there and thinks " o god its him again having fun in his AMG "
:D
Have you listed your car spec and additional packs anywhere?
Hey Rob, While I was waiting for the car to be built I made a video going through my whole spec and building the car on the Mercedes builder. You can see it here: th-cam.com/video/J1FYhSNhuvE/w-d-xo.html
@abauto. Just a quick enquiry. Did your come with augmented reality navigation? Thanks
Hi Eric, Unfortunately not. They have cut this from all current production models :(
@@ABAUTOAMG Thanks for this.
How do speed limiters work on these new cars?
What would you choose CLA45s or E63s
Cla45s is my pick for the smaller size and mobility but I absolutely love the E63s engine and interior. Can we have both? 🤣
@@ABAUTOAMG 🤣 yes if you let me borrow one
How long did it take you to put 1,000 miles on then amg ?
Hi iBeatz12, with mostly my work commute it took me around a month, I’m at around 2500 now.
You haven’t said why signed your engine from AMG?
Do you mean who signed it? Don't worry I'm saving this for a big video all about the engine :)
Stock exhaust on the vidéo ?
This is the stock exhaust in this video. Some of my recent videos though is modded.
How much did this cost AUD and can u what u customised ?
Hey Dhruv, Before the car arrived I made a video showing my full build on the Mercedes car builder. You can see it here: th-cam.com/video/J1FYhSNhuvE/w-d-xo.html
Video quality 👌🏽👌🏽
Thanks! Love filming these drives, plenty more to come 😁😁
The 1000 mile breakin is mythology. 80 to 90% of breakin/ring sealing happens in the first 10 heat cycles - proven fact
I would love to detail this car. Any questions on how to safely wash and maintain your car please let me know I’d be happy to answer any questions
Thank you, I'm currently using the chemical guys matte products. So far so good! Have a video on here of my first wash if you've not seen it yet 😁
I understand your enthusiasm, but I’m still more a c43 lover… I would miss the v6 sound and crack when shifting so badly… you have more drama in a c43
@@ABAUTOAMG Great plan ;d have fun with the CLA45s! Hope you are going to change to exhaust haha
😍😍😍
👏👏🔥🔥🔥
Brilliant mate. Made up for you. A real licence loser if you don’t watch out!!😉
Thanks Tony! Absolutely! It's a shame I had to keep letting my foot off it gets to the speed limit so fast!
I waiting for my cla 35 4 weeks until built I'm going wrap matte grey upgrade grill and quad exhaust only 300$ for last 2 the wrap be most expensive I'm just going for look not trying make ppl think it's 45 badging willl stay,
hum 🤔😼
How many points do you have on your licence lol
Clean License here! I get through my brakes quickly because I have to quickly brake once hitting the speed limit! :( Can't wait to take this out on the track and some private roads though! :D
