    Totally agree. My wife was EV-skeptical, but let me buy a used '22 Bolt EV to replace my old Mazda 3 that she hated driving so almost never did, and now she drives it all the time.
    I plug it in every night a t Lvl 1 to charge back to 65%, she doesn't even have to think about it.
    Our other vehicle that she used to drive all the time is a 2010 Honda Odyssey minivan, gets about 19mpg. Most of the time this was just her in the van, commuting.
    The Bolt is more than enough car for our in-town driving, fits our family of four plus room for 4 big shopping bags in the trunk.
    By my calculation it'll have paid for itself at around 120k miles just in gas savings (assuming a $3.50/gal average), maybe 7-8 years driving. No gas car or hybrid can do that.

    Once getting to the end of your video, I just had to comment on a couple things more. First, you going down those rabbit holes makes your video's more fun to watch. Second, I love the captions you put at the top and they crack me up. Lastly, I must tell you a true story of myself that you "talking" to other drivers made me think of.
    A couple months ago I was on the (Bluetooth) phone with my insurance company of all things. I had been on the phone with the lady for quite some time on my way to work on the 405 Freeway in southern California. She was looking something up and it was quiet for a short while and suddenly some lady totally cut me off and nearly wiped out the passenger front of my Bolt. Well, forgetting that I was on the phone yet, I kind of began swearing and cursing out that other driver! Suddenly I remembered that I was on the phone with the insurance lady and boy was I embarrassed. I apologized several times to her and she just laughed and said "well, at least you didn't get in an accident". haha. So I assume you have to be aware of what you are doing and saying when video taping.

    I share the enthusiasm for the underrated Bolt. Would love to have kept my 2022 Bolt EV 1LT as a 2nd car. Traded it in for a 2024 Tesla Model Y (which I later traded for a 2024 Tesla Model 3.) The Bolt was so easy to own (no/low maintenance, reliable, efficient, and comfortable). For an around town car and to take modest range trips (400-500 miles), the Bolt is exceptionally good. I moved to the Teslas due to the Supercharger network and the charging speeds for road trips. It will be interesting to see what the new (2nd gen?) Bolt will be when it comes out. I'd seriously consider getting one for a second EV. Thanks for doing these videos, Darryl! Keep 'em coming.

    • @robertlmoon
      @robertlmoon 19 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@EV-Darryl The Bolt is (could have been) the affordable EV for the masses. I have never installed a L2 charger in the garage. Have only charged the Bolt and the Teslas at 8 or 12 amps at home. When I needed to fast charge (usually after a long trip), I could DCFC/Supercharge within 7 miles of my house. Charging was not an issue at all for my daily needs. The Model 3 is awesome. As soon as I picked it up, I could tell how much quieter, smoother, and more comfortable the driving experience was over the Bolt and Model Y. I got the M3 Long range RWD (363 miles EPA rated range.). It's a phenomenal car. Love the range. The Tesla Energy app (Guessometer) regularly estimates 430+ miles of range on a full charge in rural driving. I'm seeing a lifetime efficiency of 5.1 miles/kWh. That's the same efficiency I got with the Bolt after driving it 1.5 years. Have a little over 3,400 miles on the Model 3 right now (got it at the end of August.) I do think the M3 is the best car I've ever owned. The Bolt is very, very close to the M3 for my usual daily around town use case. That's why I'd love to have another Bolt as a 2nd car. Having a smaller, nimble, and well equipped car as a daily would be a great addition to the more premium Tesla. From a cost perspective, the Bolt did allow me to get into the Tesla brand. Paid $24K out the door for the Bolt, traded it in for the 2024 Model Y that I paid $25K out the door for (after trade in and tax incentive), and then traded in the MY for the 2024 Model 3 for less than $3.4K out the door (also after trade in and tax incentive). Very happy with all my EV purchases. Mom is quite short and began having difficulty getting in and out of the Model Y. The Model 3 solved that. We also evacuated for Hurricane Milton, an 810 mile round trip from coastal Georgia to the Birmingham, Alabama area. The day after returning home, Mom said she was ready for another long trip in the Tesla. That pretty much says it all. She did love how easy it was to see out of/get in and out with the Bolt and that was the main reason I got the Bolt to begin with. The Bolt made ingress/egress so easy with the perfect ride height and sill-less door openings. Just a well thought out every day vehicle.

    • @Damon_Mah
      @Damon_Mah 19 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Bolts can use the Tesla Supercharger network as of this year with NACS adapter or no adapter with Supercharger 4 Magic Dock
      for ingress, Bolts have standard simple pull door handles without sacrificing range, rather than the the wonky flush Tesla handles that require a 2 step press and open

    I really wanted a Bolt when they came out in '17. It was the only affordable long range EV at the time. I was (and still am) driving a 2012 Leaf. When I had the ability for a new car, it was 2019 and I bought the cheapest Model 3, and I kept the Leaf. That said, you are right that little is needed for maintenance. Mostly tires, wiper blades, and windshield fluid. Had to replace the 12V in the Leaf after 9 years and the brakes after 11-12 years. The Model 3 I replaced the 12V after 5 years. It wasn't really needed. But, I wanted to replace it on my time and not wait for it to be an unexpected surprise. Over the course of a year, I save 10+ minutes per week per car not going to the gas station. True road trips take longer due to charging. But, I'm still far ahead on time not buying gas for these cars. I still take lots of time maintaining my gas cars and very little on the EVs.

    It is an awesome electric car! Love the silver metallic that we both have. Since I do about 70-80 percent highway driving, usually 65 mph tops and occasionally, if I am in a hurry, I’ll go 70-75 which knocks down my average to around 3.9-4.2 kW. Mine just rolled 42,000 last night and I have only changed the tires once and filled windshield fluid. Have seen the video from the Uber driver who has 350000 miles on his 2019 Bolt? I have the exact same car but mine has a roof rack and trailer hitch. The only thing Chevy needs to do is enable cruise control at 30 Km , in my city all school zones are 30km (18mph) witch is hard too maintain with regenerative braking, it’s so slow that if you take your foot off the juice peddle it drops speed really fast. I use my cruise at 50km (30mph) all the time. It allows me to watch everything else going on and not speed. It would also be nice if I was going from 70km to 50km I didn’t have to click down 20 times on the cruise button but maybe 2 long presses 10k each time.
