That's insane. I've been told 'rent a gas car for trips to make them easier' but my thinking is 'renting a car is simply a pain' so it's not something I really want to do.
That is a terrible design
@@jamesolien5545 agreed, I still, have people use that latch when they exit the car normally. It’s weird.
I mean, that's cool and all, but the emergency latch should just be normal latch. That's why modern fire exits are just the stairs you would normally take. You need to stupid proof things so when people are panicking they still make the corect decisions. Having a emergency latch that is different than the main latch completely misunderstands the last century of safety
@@Chaerephon26 agreed 100%. I still have people use that latch when they normally exit the car. It’s weird.
And then you have ✨the gasoline engine✨ where every single thing is better
@@michaeldavid5770 I guess you’ve never driven an electric car because if you had, that sentence would never happen!
That is great! At least Ameren has their act together. ComEd hasn’t been able to update my savings for me due to a billing account number change for everyone earlier this year. My bill was about $47 lower than last month though. They also started me on Hourly Pricing 6/11 but didn’t tell me until 7/15.
You need to find a way to store this electricity for export to Michigan, or anywhere else that someone would like some. I could certainly use some electricity that’s at least 90% off my current rate. Is this their way of discouraging solar and wind generation?
@@dennislyon5412 good question. Every time I hear the rates in California or others, I’m very thankful.
We really enjoy our 2023 Bolt EUV. The only issue we had was the sudden onset of phantom battery drain of ~50 miles over every 48 hours. However, the issue was the OBD dongle had been left in. Once I removed that, we have had no more phantom drain. I agree so far, the only issue with the car is the fast charging speed which was known before purchase so no issue for us. Now, the Chevy App is horrendous. Hair pulling each and every time I have to use that thing.
@@Mountdrago1 absolutely 100% correct on everything you said. I agree….. stay safe
100% agree
How ridiculous. EV's are a novelty at best. So they're quicker..... so what. I'm not buying an EV because it's quicker. They're WAY worse for the environment because of what it takes to make the battery. We have no infrastructure to support them. This is the dumbest "pro EV" video I've seen yet. You got your video view from me though.... congrats..... I guess.
@@HP-hm3pn appreciate the comment, however the Model Y Tesla has been the best selling a car in the U.S. 4 straight years, it’s the most American made car in the U.S. and the infrastructure is awesome! I can go anywhere anytime, and oh and I don’t waste time at a gas station, I “fill up” while I sleep….. no oil changes and repair shops anymore, zero maintenance is kinda nice!
@HP-hm3pn: It's times like this when I ask myself if people prefer to speak from a place of lacking or if they just don't care. So I'll put some things down in response to your comment in hopes that you actually take the time to research it in order to grow your mind. First, do you even understand what a "novelty" is? It doesn't sound like it. Second, although you have a partial point about EV's being worse for the environment in production, that's not the end of the discussion. But nice try. Yes, and EV creates a larger "Carbon Footprint" over ICE from the production up till roughly 40,000 miles. From there it's zero contest while the EV blows the doors off the ICE from that point on. Lastly, yes there is an infrastructure for EV's. In fact, it's larger than the entire gasoline infrastructure. Do you have a gas pump at your house? Apartments? At work? I doubt it. But a majority of EV drivers have just that. Just like me, EVDarryl enjoys the greatest refueling of all. While we sleep. Bet you can't do that.
@@EV-Darryl That makes it about 2.6% of total sales. Again... novelty.
This is off topic but Tesla finally opened their Supercharger network to GM today! I’m very happy! Going to try it today with my A2Z adapter that I ordered a few months back.
@@VickiS0427 I just saw Tom from “state of charge” this morning. I have a couple questions, he said that Bolt EV and Bolt EUV owners will have to have a dealership update first before being able to charge. He also said that GM will be selling adapters for $259.00.. I’m a little upset about that because as you know Ford and Rivian owners got theirs for free, seems a little suspicious to me! Please let me know if and when you can charge.
@@EV-Darryl It was Tom I heard the news. He said something about an update for Bolts. I called my dealer this morning and they said my car doesn’t show needing an update. The price is $225 and you can use reward points. I ordered it. Our Chevy apps updated this morning to be able to activate Tesla charging in the app. Yes, not happy about price but to me it’s worth it. I had heard 3rd party adapters could void the warranty if something happens. Last night on Facebook there were videos of people charging their Bolts so it is definitely happening.
I just read a few of the comments left here. First to those (@Wendy and @highvoltage and @batterylabs) who seem to dislike EV's, why come on a channel like this? Second, did someone open the gates to the conspiracy ranch? Some times I just shake my head at some of the silly things people will say.
@@danielberning1240 I know, I shake my head as well. I am wondering if they got rid of their cell phones, tv remotes, clocks, hearing aids, etc…..
@@EV-Darryl Haha. Not only that, but the one who said "not for my family" and "the danger to my family" makes me crack up. They say that, and yet will place that same family directly over 10 or 20 or 30 gallons of highly flamable fluid that is toxic if ingested and will make you very sick if you smell it too long. hahaha.
Not for me, my health is important. All EVs Radiate EMF Radiation, most manufacturers put shielding at key points to slow down waves, but most people feel this is Not enough. Many people are getting Sick
EMF levels in EVs are well within previously established safety limits, sometimes comparable or even lower than those in ordinary vehicles.
I found a paper in the National Library of Medicine regarding the effect of EMF from EVs on EV drivers. The conclusion was that there is not yet enough data to conclude that even chronic daily exposure (such as an EV bus driver) has an adverse health effect. People are NOT getting sick due to EV's putting out EMF radiation, that is misinformation. I suspect that this will go the way of scares about 5G, microwave ovens, cell phone towers, cell phones, in-ear bluetooth devices, TV remotes,. TVs, et al. Do you think the exhaust from your car's ICE engine is NOT affecting your health, and that of everyone around you?
We just sold our electric car, ... I'm SO HAPPY it's gone. Hours and hours I sat and sat doing nothing, I'll never get this time back. Charging stations stole my life. I'm not getting any younger. No time to waste. ... and I don't need the anxiety or hassle or the danger to my family . Back to Gas for us !

Here you go,in plain English. Lithium batteries are regulated as a hazardous material under the U.S. Department of Transportation's ( DOT ) Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR; 49 C.F.R., Parts 171-180). Exposure to Lithium Batteries can cause loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. -- Lithium can cause headache, muscle weakness, twitching, blurred vision, loss of coordination, tremors, confusion, seizures and coma. Hmmm..strange. My wife and I and now daughter have been driving EVs since 2017 and we have never experienced any sickness from our electric cars. Our health got even better when we changed our diets from eating the processed poisonous foods the FDA approved, to eating more organic homegrown foods.
"You have to be honest" ... Well, THERE'S your problem! Us society is collapsing from the DEATH of HONESTY. (And Haitian immigrants eating Springfield's dogs. An ex-President of the United States said that on TV so it MUST be true, right? Trump would not lie? /s). Dealerships - salespeople, sales managers, F&I people, service advisors, mechanics - can you TRUST any of them? Of course not, and THAT is why the auto industry is doomed. From "nitrogen" to "glass etching" to "payment padding" to "you need a [insert expensive part that is working fine here]"), nobody should be trusting a dealership anymore - and you're a fool if you do. (Except a very few, like Brandon on CQA). GM recognized this decades ago with Saturn - but weren't able to defeat the rot and corruption within their own company. The dealership model is going to die, but it's death throes (and the lobbying money they throw around) will damage US society for decades.

Thanks for this one Darryl. As you may recall, I work at a Mazda and Volvo store and I also drive a Bolt EV personally. I've now been driving my Bolts for just under 2 years and 18,000 miles total. I will also echo the rest who have siad they will never go back. I find myself telling people that same thing all the time. Interestingly, my job requires me to deliver brand new vehicles all over the southenr California area. Daily I'm in $30,000 to $100,000 cars in both ICE and EV (Volvo's). Mazda is kind of like Toyota and they seem to think EV is not the future. What's funny is how many awards and good reviews Mazda's get, and yet when I drive any of them I feel like I just stepped back about 30 years in time! Like you said, they feel lethargic, slow and so outdated that I just hate driving them. I feel that my Bolt is superior to anything Mazda sells and I like it as well or better than even the Volvo EV's. But that's just me.

At the 14 minute mark you said what I always say. Every month I do a cost, savings, and analysis report for our EV’s. I’d love to see your spreadsheets sometime if you’d consider doing a video showing them.
Ngl, my experience with my 23’ Bolt has been a little rough. Transmission fluid pump failed at 1,600 miles, took 16 days to source a replacement. Now I have to take it in again for a clicking sound in the steering column, plus the surround view camera has developed a flicker, and the defog vent cover has started separating. Only managed to put 3,600 miles on it so far. Not off to a great start. Thankfully all covered under warranty at least.
@@iNFECTED_pIE oh my, I’m so sorry. What in the world is with your car? Keep us posted!! Stay safe.
Great vidoe. On my Bolt now (second 2023 that I purchased both new), I've had it for 6 months and 6,000 miles. Averaging 4.8 miles per KWH. On my first one, had it for 15 months and 16,000 miles. That one was at 4.7 miles per KWH. Neither car cost me a dime out of pocket other than the charging. I do use the A/C in summer and heater (sparingly) in the cooler weather here in southern California. My motto is that I refuse to be uncomfortable just to save a dime. I do use the one pedal drive all the time and drive as efficiently as I can. Recently I was gone to visit family in Illinois late in July and early August for 15 days. The range was at 302 when I left and still 302 when I got home. Yes, the Bolts don't charge fast at all, but I don't care since I normally charge to full at home. Overall? I absolutely love my Bolt.

Good comments on your Bolt experiences. We can all pick on the ridiculously slow charging experience, but it is/was a roomy, well designed car, and it will cover a fairly large circle around where you live on a daily basis, especially if you can charge where you live or work. I want to know how you get 4.5 mi/ kwh, since the average on my 2017 is about 3.5-3.6 year around in Michigan. No complaints from me on efficiency though. It’s like a 70 to 100 mpg car most of the time, plus they’re quiet at lower speeds, and a blast to drive.
@@dennislyon5412 thanks for the comment. We love this car, it does many things very well and yes it is a blast to drive. I think since I mainly drive through town driving stop and go with one pedal drive on all the time, that helps my 4.5 miles per kWh.
