I got your point but you're not the only one I've seen say they did this as a kid without help and that's what amazes me. I didn't play these games when they first came out but I can almost guarantee I would have never figured out how to use those ramps to get the hidden gems.

yes whats especially the worst is i HATE to exit the level before it is complete all monsters killed things burned etc... its a weird peeve ocd thing i have, i guess. So when i die and reenter..i have to start COMPLETELY over..but i cant do the "Full" gem collections thing at the end cuz i already got them and got booted out due to death u.u rip...

The trick is to start the level from the beginning and then follow the thief at the start, he is suposed to guide you. There's 2 thieves who do that in this level, each one guide you to the secret areas

Important Tip: You'll have to jump as late as possible, that'll result in a lot more airtime. Also the Area where you can jump extends a bit after the ramp itself so you'll have to jump right as the ramp ends but you won't have to worry about missing the jump

Incidental note: I tried doing this using the official strategy guide for the original game (yes, I still own a strategy guide for Spyro the Dragon on PS1 that I got in 1998), and whomever wrote that guide got the Dragon's names flipped around (EG the one for Lyle was marked Isaak, and vice versa). This proved a problem since that was how they identified which pedestal to start at for each jump, hence my coming here after dying 20 times and thinking I must just be stupid. Turns out the guide was just wrong, I am still stupid though.
Evangel Tepes yep at the end of the day it’s one of the worst designed levels in a 3D platformer but fortunately it’s the only bad level in the entire game. I don’t know why people hate the flight stages so much. This however I can understand.

This is just me on a daily basis. I got a game over, and drained so many lives on those stupid jumps. I eventually used the cheat code for the infinite lives (after grinding other levels to try and get some more lives) and eventually got it.
I can’t believe this is the intended route. I feel like I’m watching one of those old Jampack videos where they show you how to skip an entire Tomb Raider level. It is so unintuitive to go UP the supercharge ramp. Not to mention even knowing what to do it took me 30+ tries and I would have just assumed that I was doing it wrong.
I would recommend practicing the super charge jumps back at “High Caves” in order to get the feel with the button pressing. If you mess up in high caves the fairies will take you back to the top of the super charge ramp without the cost of any lives. This is a good guide though.
For anybody who is playing on PC at high framerates and cannot make the jump at 0:23. You must make sure that your framerate is locked to 30 FPS. Then the dragon is able to double charge at the end of the ramp and you can make the jump easily. When I played that level at 155 FPS it always charged only once and I was not able to make the jump at all.

wtf I never would've found this on my own. I kept trying more 'clean' routes, because I thought I had to do those ramps in one linear, more obvious, sequence. There also wasn't anything really hidden like this in the game before so I wasn't really trying crazy jumps. Midair U-turns? lol. Now to try to pull this off.
Right! Every level was easy up until they decided to randomly make it impossible to figure out on your own. Devs probably did it for shits and giggles.

Wow noob moment. I was sure in the original, I never had to always hold the charge button to reach any of these areas. You are the first one to explain it clearly "always hold the charge button down". I was always letting go and wondering what the hell was going on. You sir are awesome!
The cunts who developed the remastered are some fuckin cunts, because this seriously doesn't make any sense to make it harder, when it should be as it is. I lost 85 lives on the first run before i managed that fuckery, and trust me i wouldn't recommend this piece of shit that was that hard! Even thought it must be a bug, or a joke to make it impossible. The second one i managed by only loosing 2 lives, this is a seriously broken system. They should've kept the game difficult level the same. Now i'm starting to consider playing spyro 2, and 3 on emulator, after finishing this stupid hard fucken game! Hope there is no bug difficulties like this again. Serious rage here, after winning it. my hands are still shaking, and my head/eyes even hurt from that first one.

I started playing the original games in 1998 with Spyro the Dragon. I lost countless lives in Tree Tops and Haunted Towers for the same reason: not knowing the Super Charge went even further. Over 10 years later, I finally figured them out by looking at the contents on the web and now I have completed the original trilogy. Well done. :)

Couldn't figure out how to reach both secret areas until this video. I didn't get 100% as a kid (didn't matter then) but getting this game as an adult has me wanting to do it right. Must've killed myself 15 times til this.....after a couple of failed attempts post video I got it. Thanks again!
It just has to be in the same life. Also you don't even need to jump them, mine popped when I was walking the 4th one to figure out where I was jumping to.
The u turn part sucked hard. Had nearly 50 lives for these two areas and lost one life after another on that u turn. Eventually I started thinking 'just give me the goddamn game over already!' and with one life left went in reckless, not giving a shit, and then ZING!, 100%, lol.
This has now reminded where my game rage was born...eff this level. It took me about 40 lives and 5 game overs. But grateful for youtube bc back in the day figuring it out myself took probably about a week. Ugh.
I've completed the og Spyro so many times that I have all the secrets memorized by heart, but this level and Haunted Towers will always be memorable to me as they are the first two times a game made my sister and I look up a guide all those years ago. In fact, a friend of mine got the game recently and today I received a message from him that said (and I quote): "Help, this Tree Tops level is stupid". Instantly knew what he was talking about, so thank you for providing him, as well as other frustrated gamers, the tools to survive one of the toughest 100%s in the game.
Funny how they replaced some of the more challenging levels in N.Sane Trilogy with easier versions, but Spyro didn't get the same treatment. Even the addition of some extra landing space would have gone a long way towards hinting at what to do.

Oh wow. I did it a totally different way. You can actually use the third supercharge ramp shown in the video by itself to get there by jumping in a circle.
This level is literally one of the dumbest things ive ever seen in my life. "Jump at the end of the ramp" my rear end! The jump point is waaaaaaaayyyyyy after the ramp actually ends, you might as well be jumping off of the air.

I was able to get to the one above the exit portal, but I was having trouble with the first secret spot . After losing almost 15 of my lives, I've finally decided to look for a guide. I haven't thought of making a u-turn with the other ramp... Thanks for this!
No idea how I did this when I was younger... Thanks for this, my sister was stuck for days on this rerelease, and couldn’t figure out how to get the last dragon. Then I tried and took many, many attempts...got there in the end!
Update: I managed it without a walkthrough for the first time this March, on my 20th anniversary of playing this game..now I'm back here...but! I didn't manage to get the yellow thief without so there is hope
I bought a miyoo mini plus and am playing the original on a 3" screen and just did it thanks to this tutorial. Anybody on this version on a 52" TV has no excuses!!! That was crazy though, i never would have got that on my own...
Was at 25 lives, down to 17. Hit all the ramps and I just can’t get the glide at the end to be good enough to make it. I love this game, I really do. But this level is killin me. Edit: shortly after making this post, tried again, lost a life. Tried once more. Got to where I needed to be. On to the other hard to reach spot I go.
I got this game for my daughter yesterday. I figured I’d play it for a few mins after she went to bed. Several hours later I get to this part and I was running around everywhere trying to get over there. It’s hard to leave a level without 100% everything.
Nice shout works at 60 too, playing at higher than 60 seems to cause various issues on PC like Spyro sliding around on the ground and the green druids not being able to move the terrain very strange. For me the charge ramps were not giving me any more speed making it impossible to do multiple ramps.
God, I despise this level with all of my hate. I lost damn near all of my lives just to reach that 100%. Tree Tops has always been one of my top 3 hated levels.
I was playing this on PC and read some post that mentioned that fps had effect on your speed. I questioned it and capped framerate to 30fps to try it out (before unlimited with 165Hz display). The game not only let me run faster but all the jumps became easier as before I could only barely make the jumps and now I actually flew well past the landing edges :D TLDR: with PC, try locking the framerate, you will be surprised!

Wręcz po zrobieniu jednego z tych jakby można zwać kopinacji skoków to nawet Pyro mówi czemu nie znalazł lepszego miejsca do usunięcia. Co przyznaje mu rację bo szukając wszystkich miejsc i zrobienie wszystkich rzeczy z moich 30 żyć zrobiło 7. Jeden z najbardziej trudnych poziomów pomijając szlaki.

What I struggled to figure out the most was actually making the platform without falling, then I realised to jump mid-air rather than the end of the ramp, you go much higher lol
@@behemothokun You are probably a master at this level, where as many are struggling with it as the Supercharge they have coded is damn hard and he keeps hitting his head before he reaches the 3rd ramp and falls, I wasted 25 lives today trying and since I got the game I have had 7 game overs down to these supercharge areas.

This was my issue yeah. You basically need to run off the edge, THEN jump.

I made this in 2 attepts after this guide. It´s ALL about not letting go of the jump button too soon. It will really push you a much longer distance.

You can get the trophy just by doing all the ramps individually. I got the trophy before even attempting getting to these secret areas.

Oh my goood I've played Spyro i don't know how many times and this is the first time I've ever completed Tree Tops, THANK YOU!!!
The u turn part sucked hard. Had nearly 50 lives for these two areas and lost one life after another on that u turn. Eventually I started thinking 'just give me the goddamn game over already!' and with one life left went in reckless, not giving a shit, and then ZING!, 100%, lol.
This has now reminded where my game rage was born...eff this level. It took me about 40 lives and 5 game overs. But grateful for youtube bc back in the day figuring it out myself took probably about a week. Ugh.
Definitely one of my favorite levels. Felt so good to get another 100%. Thanks 👍

I've completed the og Spyro so many times that I have all the secrets memorized by heart, but this level and Haunted Towers will always be memorable to me as they are the first two times a game made my sister and I look up a guide all those years ago. In fact, a friend of mine got the game recently and today I received a message from him that said (and I quote): "Help, this Tree Tops level is stupid". Instantly knew what he was talking about, so thank you for providing him, as well as other frustrated gamers, the tools to survive one of the toughest 100%s in the game.

20 years later and this level is still trash.
Funny how they replaced some of the more challenging levels in N.Sane Trilogy with easier versions, but Spyro didn't get the same treatment. Even the addition of some extra landing space would have gone a long way towards hinting at what to do.

I didn't even know where the other dragon was! Thank you. I watched this and ended up doing the one on above the exit on the 1st try! The dragon took me 3 lives
Oh wow. I did it a totally different way. You can actually use the third supercharge ramp shown in the video by itself to get there by jumping in a circle.

This level is literally one of the dumbest things ive ever seen in my life. "Jump at the end of the ramp" my rear end! The jump point is waaaaaaaayyyyyy after the ramp actually ends, you might as well be jumping off of the air.
It's not dumb...it's for people with high IQ who are willing to critical think and map out every way possible, which clearly you haven't. Only dedicated players can relate. but yeah.

I got this game in 2020. Last summer i beat it. Now im replaying it entirely and watching the same guide. I might be back in a year again :D
Spyro won't glide for me on the last one it's so frustrating.
I was able to get to the one above the exit portal, but I was having trouble with the first secret spot . After losing almost 15 of my lives, I've finally decided to look for a guide. I haven't thought of making a u-turn with the other ramp... Thanks for this!
you need like so many extra lives to make this jump like Jesus I started with 24 lives now im down to 15
use the 99 lives cheat (trophies dont lock)
I wasted about 20 lives before I got both lol. The first is way harder than the second.

Thanks for this, my sister was stuck for days on this rerelease, and couldn’t figure out how to get the last dragon. Then I tried and took many, many attempts...got there in the end!
Thank god i'm done with this level, only took me about 10 life for both of the secret area.

Update: I managed it without a walkthrough for the first time this March, on my 20th anniversary of playing this game..now I'm back here...but! I didn't manage to get the yellow thief without so there is hope

I bought a miyoo mini plus and am playing the original on a 3" screen and just did it thanks to this tutorial. Anybody on this version on a 52" TV has no excuses!!!

Was at 25 lives, down to 17. Hit all the ramps and I just can’t get the glide at the end to be good enough to make it. I love this game, I really do. But this level is killin me.
Edit: shortly after making this post, tried again, lost a life. Tried once more. Got to where I needed to be. On to the other hard to reach spot I go.
I got this game for my daughter yesterday. I figured I’d play it for a few mins after she went to bed. Several hours later I get to this part and I was running around everywhere trying to get over there. It’s hard to leave a level without 100% everything.
If anyone is playing on PC and having issues with reaching the far tree where Jed is located, try limiting your framerate to 30.
Nice shout works at 60 too, playing at higher than 60 seems to cause various issues on PC like Spyro sliding around on the ground and the green druids not being able to move the terrain very strange. For me the charge ramps were not giving me any more speed making it impossible to do multiple ramps.

God, I despise this level with all of my hate. I lost damn near all of my lives just to reach that 100%. Tree Tops has always been one of my top 3 hated levels.
I was playing this on PC and read some post that mentioned that fps had effect on your speed. I questioned it and capped framerate to 30fps to try it out (before unlimited with 165Hz display). The game not only let me run faster but all the jumps became easier as before I could only barely make the jumps and now I actually flew well past the landing edges :D TLDR: with PC, try locking the framerate, you will be surprised!

Kilka godzin myślałem jak to zrobić i to było najtrudniejsze części z użyciem biegu, zkogu, szypowania i tego przyspieszenia. Robiąc to zastanawiałem się jak to może być dla dzieci.
Wręcz po zrobieniu jednego z tych jakby można zwać kopinacji skoków to nawet Pyro mówi czemu nie znalazł lepszego miejsca do usunięcia. Co przyznaje mu rację bo szukając wszystkich miejsc i zrobienie wszystkich rzeczy z moich 30 żyć zrobiło 7. Jeden z najbardziej trudnych poziomów pomijając szlaki.

What I struggled to figure out the most was actually making the platform without falling, then I realised to jump mid-air rather than the end of the ramp, you go much higher lol
This level is proof that the sequels are totally superior to the original game.

@@behemothokun You are probably a master at this level, where as many are struggling with it as the Supercharge they have coded is damn hard and he keeps hitting his head before he reaches the 3rd ramp and falls, I wasted 25 lives today trying and since I got the game I have had 7 game overs down to these supercharge areas.
