    Flower jewelry has always been my weakness, and I can’t decide on a decade that I’m partial to! Flowers are such a timeless motif in art, jewelry, architecture, and so much more. 🥰

    I despised art deco when I was younger but have grown to like it a ton in recent years -- nothing like the clean, bold lines and pops of sparkle in the jewelry. I did see somewhat of a revival of it given we're back in the 20's but not as much as I had hoped! I guess there's still time...!

    Sweet Idea! I tend to fall for pieces that remind me of old Hollywood black and white movies, Art Deco the 1920's Flapper, especially glass beads and I've become obsessed with House of Harlow from the 1960's with all the triangle Shapes, I also have a collection of bizarre Oddities & My love for Taxco jewelry never goes away either, so I guess I'm all over the place. That's probably why my personal "for keep's" items seem so eccentric.

    Hi Jen. I love looking at so many different types of jewelry. I don't necessarily favor one style over another. For me, it's more about what the piece is made from. I have a great love for all things stony, so any piece with a good stone in it works for me. I have become very attracted to post war West Germany and Japan costume, especially glass. I don't know much about jewelry in general, stones are my area of expertise, but I am learning by watching great channels like yours!

    I loved scarabs as a kid, I still have a ton because i'd buy any i'd find whenever I went to Egypt. yes they are totally culturally ok to wear ! As for the symbolism, look into the god Khepri, as well as just the scarab symbol as a whole. it has a lot of meanings, but the most basic is a protection charm !

My bachelors degree is in anthropology and that came about from my interest in ancient Egypt since childhood. A new King Tut exhibit is coming to my area in March 2023 and I plan to go. How are the stones polished?

    • @sundaebaubles
      @sundaebaubles  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Lyn, thanks for your question. There are many ways to polish stones - from polishing pads, sand paper, and rough stones can be tumbled. From what I’ve seen it’s likely a lapidarist would first cut the stone into a cabochon to form the scarab’s shape, then polish the stone and carve it.

      @sundaebaubles  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lynlong1292 if this is something you would like to have looked at, I would suggest taking it to a lapidarist and not a regular jeweller. Lapidaries specialize in stone cutting and polishing, and will able to tell you what they can do. Polishing engraved stones will remove some detail, so definitely take photos in advance so that they can recreate the original details. That said, wear is also charming in its own way! Your bracelet has no doubt been worn and enjoyed ♥️
