  • We're seeing even more damage from Hurricane Beryl as SkyFox flew over neighborhoods earlier Tuesday afternoon. FOX 26's Sherman Desselle reports as Houstonians need gas but it's getting harder to find with gas already running out.

It’s unacceptable that the city of Houston is not prepared at all for emergencies. No gas, no electricity and no competency. & this was just a quick storm from a Cat 1

It’s true! Drove to maybe 5 different gas stations and a couple in Richmond. They’re completely out of gas, there were a few people trying to use the broken down gas pumps that have the bag covering them. One guy almost got into a fight at the station when the cashier said he forgot to put a no gas sign on the door.
People are becoming even more unhinged. Stay safe out there!..

I've been living in Houston as I am now or around Houston my whole life and I can honestly say that when it comes to storm readiness there is not another city worse than here. If I fart to hard the power goes out in Harris county for days. Flooding happens even with small rain storms, everyone panic buys fuel and toilet paper depleting all stores and gas stations. CenterPoint is never ready for a disaster, but yet we pay enormous rates. We pay our lights to energy companies that are really just re-sellers who jack the prices up. Crime is ridiculous... Besides Mattress Mack there is not a single redeeming factor about this city.

I'm burning through 25 gallons a day to run my house on a generator with my 2 daughters, 2 sons in laws, 2 grandbabys, 4 dogs, a cat and frustrated that our grid sucks ass. It'll be a week before we get power back. I am loving having family here but it's unacceptable infrastructure failure after failure. Grateful for the gene and family but we can do better. As of 2:00am, "1,372,912" without power and "655,257" restored in the last 24 hours.
Tomorrow, that should be down to about 720,000 without power.
The workforce is triple the size of the Derecho workforce.
Most will have power back by Friday afternoon. The areas hit by the Derecho are recovering fast. Many trees fell in May so there was a lot less line damage in those areas. Don't let your trees grow to where they could bring down a power line. Keep them away from power lines.
    Good Luck everyone.

1st rule of after a hurricane. The outskirts of a major city may have fuel, next is the travel plaza's, major truck stops. Head away from the storms past path n its found. So long as the power is still on

I'm in the outskirts and we have NO POWER... The gas stations are closed for lack of operational pumps, no street lights, no traffic lights, no police presence, and there are downed power lines and fallen trees EVERYWHERE... We're driving over them, and under them just to get food/water/batteries...

I've learned through the years to fill up on gas before the storm. Thankfully, I'm normally off work when a storm comes, so I make sure not to drive anywhere to save gas. I stock up on enough non-perishable food items to last me and my family and a few others if needed for at least a couple of weeks or a little more. I start prepping for that weeks in advance with buying items needed here and there, just in case. GOD blessed me to be gifted with a generator that I use and allow friends and family to use if and when they need it. Through the years, I've bought a gas can here and there, so I fill those up as well. I learned all this from not being fully prepared years ago.
