I use red 3M 7447 scouring pads for sanding and pit removal. Then I polish by hand with Mother's wheel polish. The pits on your car are too visible. I would have removed them. Always love your videos. Glad you are back!
Personal health and family is more important then any video. Happy your posting a video but will happily wait for ya just let us know your taking time. Be healthy thanks for the video
I'm a collector, but at the same time I love when the car gets aesthetically improved as best as possible. So, both ways will make me happy. When I watch these videos, I'm mostly expecting to see an improved version of the original car looks. But if I know from the beginning that you intend to keep the car as close as possible to its original form, then that's the result I'll be expecting. It's just a matter of being flexible and able to appreciate both. P.S.: My 6 year old son loves your work. Now he even wants to start restoring cars, himself. He's the one who showed me your videos. Great car and awesome work as always. The collector needs to remember that every car that is "restored to perfection" and not "factory" makes all his cars worth more. 😊
Nice to have you back! Love the Maverick! I had one about 34 years ago (I'm 52 now), don't remember the year of the car but it was fast. I remember punching it and being tossed back because the driver's seat was broken, too funny! Thanks for the great video!

Welcome back! As I've said on other resto channels...we come here to see your take on restoring/customizing cars. Be true to your vision, not ours. That being said, I love your philosophy of trying not to destroy thhe truly historic cars. As a child of the 70s I owned and played with every redline and most superfast that youve featured here and it really takes me back when I see you restore these to their near original state. Even when you go really custom on one of these I know youve got a few near mint of the same model in your collection so it's all good. Thanks for your vids, it's an honor to watch one of the grandaddies of the resto channels!
I love that you chose to make the car blue, my dad's first car was a dark blue 77 Maverick 2 door with an inline 6 that he loved to rip around in. I almost had the ability to buy a 74 (I actually had no clue it was for sale) but by the time I had the money the car was sold but I was able to meet the owner and was happy to see he was nice guy and his girlfriend was very friendly. I almost bought a dark blue 4 door but I when I found my AMC Matador wagon I chose her instead. Also in regards to sanding (and yes I know this video is a bit old now) but I think what makes you happy is what's best but it seems you found a good balance on Original and Restored if you get what I mean.

Great video man. Loved it. And don’t worry about pleasing the viewers. They are your cars. You can do them how you wanna do them. Great work can’t wait to see more mad max and other custom videos.
My thoughts might be controversial, but I suggest you do whatever you want, it's your hobby and your channel. Someone who is so bent out of shape about whether or not to sand a toy car will never be pleased what you do. I am going to assume that I represent the silent majority in that we enjoy your channel no matter what you do. I prefer restores over a custom "mad Max" type of project, but I still enjoy it none the less. Thanks.
Welcome back!!! I hope you feel refreshed and realize that your true TH-cam family will patiently wait and enjoy your presented work even if we might make a different choice with any given car! I am really looking forward to a video exploring the "Sand or No Sand?" debate. As part of my tour guide work, I daily discuss the Statue of Liberty. Her massive restoration 1984-86 sparked passionate debates between Preservationists (No changes!) & Restorationist (Nothing sacred!). The guiding principles must be "Artist's Intention" and "Surviving Exhibition (If it disintegrates soon after the effort, Why bother [Crumblers, anyone?] ) Maybe that's the way to frame the debate for the video. That you're willing to ask the question speaks to your integrity. Do remember that those screaming loudest at you probably have a financial interest in their collections at risk. And if you restore an original to the point experts struggle to tell them apart, even if you don't represent the car you sell as "original" the unscrupulous buyer who purchased the car from you may falsely claim it is when they sell it. If it becomes known it's your work, then your reputation can be falsely and unfairly tarnished. In the end, however, the
Sorry...In the end, however, unlike the Statue of Liberty, these are toys. They're meant to be more cherished and played with than world changing statements of art (even if you could argue they are!) As I always say, just have fun with your toys (and your family!)
I am not a toy collector, but I have restored over four cars and over five motorcycles. And I've found most people love originality & shinny stuff. So, I guess it comes down to personal taste.
glad tyo see you are back again. I like the color, and I am waiting to see what it looks like with the stripe and the wing. I do prefer the cars when the pitting is removed, but I can imagine that the sanding can also remove some of the details.
Personally, I like the not-sanded look -- it feels like it's not "over-restoring" the car (to take a term from full-size-car restorations), but more of a rejuvenation. In general, I'd say do it to please yourself first, because that way you're not losing your reason for wanting to do it in the first place. And, after that, some variety can be good, but sanding doesn't have to be the way to get it.
Glad your back but totally understand taking a break from things. Love your videos and to be honest I don’t really care one way or another if you sand or not. To me each video is great and you’re like the Bob Ross of toy car restoration. As long as you make videos where you narrate what’s happening I’m going to watch.
My favorite of your videos to watch are the ones where you really get into cleaning up the car beyond restoration (e.g. your Husky video). Knock off all the flashing, deepen the panel lines, hit it with the elecro-polisher, zinc plate it two or three times, and give it a kickass paint job. I understand not wanting to do that with rare Redlines. Fortunately there are plenty of beaters out there.
Glad you are back. I was starting to think you had been kidnapped. As far as sand or don't sand. I say do what makes you happy and fits your style. In the end you are the one displaying them.
As a collector, I agree, the more important cars shouldn't get a sanding to keep the original look, but the cars that are just for the sake of custom can get anything needed to achieve the desired look.
Looks great. If you could video the wing install I'd appreciate it, I'm restoring one and struggling with getting it to fit and look right. I'm almost ready to find a repro interior with wing I'm so frustrated.

Thanks.
When someone complains about what I do... I say... I DID NOT DO IT FOR YOU!
They're meant to be more cherished and played with than world changing statements of art (even if you could argue they are!)
As I always say, just have fun with your toys (and your family!)
kool , thanx....luv that blue....nice work , on the rear axle...beautiful

Do what you enjoy doing and share it with us. That will make for the best content! I enjoy every video of yours I watch!
I am not a toy collector, but I have restored over four cars and over five motorcycles. And I've found most people love originality & shinny stuff.
So, I guess it comes down to personal taste.
I just enjoy your work. Gotta love the Monday morning quarterbacks!
glad tyo see you are back again. I like the color, and I am waiting to see what it looks like with the stripe and the wing. I do prefer the cars when the pitting is removed, but I can imagine that the sanding can also remove some of the details.
Came out nice sir, clean and clear 👍
Personally, I like the not-sanded look -- it feels like it's not "over-restoring" the car (to take a term from full-size-car restorations), but more of a rejuvenation. In general, I'd say do it to please yourself first, because that way you're not losing your reason for wanting to do it in the first place. And, after that, some variety can be good, but sanding doesn't have to be the way to get it.
I just enjoy what you produce. You're a pro, I trust your judgement.
The production quality is getting better and better with each new video. Take your time!
That was a nice explanation at the end. I completely agree with how you're going about it. Keep up the amazing restorations!
Great restoration. Thanks for sharing this.

Glad your back but totally understand taking a break from things.
Love your videos and to be honest I don’t really care one way or another if you sand or not. To me each video is great and you’re like the Bob Ross of toy car restoration. As long as you make videos where you narrate what’s happening I’m going to watch.
Beautiful job, appreciate your talents.
that cobalt blue really fits the car. good choice dude
Your videos make me so happy, thank you
Nice colour mate. Looks similar to the Corvette I just put up.🔥🔥🔥
Hey welcome back! Anoyher awesome job here. If you need more time we are still fine with waiting. We understand my friend.
Welcome back! Awesome work as usual! Hope there's a video ABOUT fixing some problems that doesn't worth taking cars apart like a caved in chassis!
Just keep on doing what you do, I like watching what you do and you're doing awesome
Awesome job bud, looks mint. Nevr see the redlines over here, I guess they never sold them here.
Email me and I will see if I can get some to you..
Oh My, WAY too much time worrying about us... We LOVE your work which is why we started to follow you and continue to do so. Please, just keep doing what YOU want to do as it's great. Anyone of us would love to own one of theses cars along with the time and skill that you constantly display. AND, if it means some gaps between vids... so what... I'm sure that we'll wait and understand. Thanks.
They all look great to me, sand or no... keep up the great work!
I love it. Looks good wearing blue.
Welcome back from your hiatus. Gotta love your dulcet tone.
Enjoy you’re work, keep it up!
I have missed many of your videos, but I will enjoy catching up. Great job as I remember! Try superglue send baking soda, it's extremely strong and quick. Marty Matchbox Makeovers tip.
Not a collector of Hot Wheels, but I prefer to see restored cars that are unsanded. While I understand the desire to see a perfectly repaired car, I would side with the collectors that it is destroying history. This debate is replicated in almost any community that involves antique or vintage stuff. From Hot Wheels, to Transformers, to GI Joe. I say continue doing what you love, how you love doing it!
Great job, I agree with you on not sanding, awesome video!!
Awesome job buddy looks great thanks for sharing buddy keep up the good work 👍👍👍

I loved the video and appreciate the sanding compromise. Do it the way you described. Keep it up!
Glad you took a break, man. Don't worry, diecast Resurrection kept us occupied!
