      Could you do a video about the 1985 draft class I feels like that class doesn't get talked enough that is very underrated draft class that produced 4 Hall of Famers

  • @shevcenko007
    @shevcenko007 4 ปีที่แล้ว +390

    Mr Big Shot, Chauncey Billups, one of the most underrated PG, great floor general who made his teammates better. He deserves to be a Hall of Famer.

    • @ivaneurope
      @ivaneurope 4 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      I think they'd induct Ben Wallace before him to be honest

    • @thebestcentaur
      @thebestcentaur 4 ปีที่แล้ว +32

      @@ivaneurope I disagree. But I know why the HoF is taking its time with both of them. Billups does deserve to be a HOFer, but he was almost a bust, for one thing, and his career before he got to Detroit was largely pegged as such. IIRC, no undrafted players have ever made it to the HoF, even though Big Ben is pretty much the best undrafted player ever. So they both may go in eventually, but Mr. Big Shot will very likely hear his name called first
      Edit: completely forgot about Connie Hawkins, but he went to the ABA and made a lot of his history there before starring in the NBA. Big Ben is the only MODERN undrafted NBA player in the HoF.
      Edit 2: I was wrong. Big Ben is going first! Well deserved!

    Yeah. Billups was underrated. His career became a lot better in later years. He was my father's favorite player. And Timmy was my favorite player that time. I didn't know that Timmy took 4 years in college before he came to the NBA. That's rare for most players. Great info.

    Andy I would love if you did a video on the Jailblazers. It would be interesting to hear all the behind the scenes stories of their dysfunction because they were so talented. I dont think they had deep playoff runs but that has a lot to do with their overall chemistry.

    • @nickthompson2376
      @nickthompson2376 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jail blazers should have won a title....they blew a 15pt 4th quarter lead to the Lakers in game 7 of wcf’s. They went on to win first of their 3peat and that was the end of jail blazers. That game also ended Scottie pippen. Had he won a title that year his legacy would be different

    Tracy McGrady. This guy had eternal springs in his step. I remember watching all of his playoff games as a Magic and thought what if he got the help from Grant Hill or played with a decent man down in the post? T-Mac was sensational and I remember his All-Star game off the backboard free throw dunk!! In game!!! 6-9 forward who had the scoring touch of a Michael Jordan, could eventually win a ring and balled every night. If he had a longer playing career, I'd put him on Lebron level because his game was like Scottie Pippens

    It's pretty common in all sports - if there is a stacked draft class one year, the next year will be pretty lean. Usually. The 2012 and 2013 NFL Draft comes to mind. But the 2017 draft was loaded, and so was 2018. So there's one example bucking that trend.

    Interesting but a bit sad you didn't speak about other relevant players: Scott Pollard and his haircuts, Anthony Parker who had a reliable game and a long career in Europe, Tariq Abdul-Wahhad who was the first Frenchman to be drafted and play for a NBA team, paving the way to Parker, Diaw, Pietrus, Batum, Gobert, Fournier and many others.
    Some of these later selections had interesting stories even though they didn't have great careers
