The 2004 NBA draft was a great draft year for defensive players. Dwight Howard Emeka Okafor Andre Igoudala Josh Smith Loul Deng Tony Allen Trevor Ariza
He’s 2nd best in this draft class imo. I don’t think Livingston gets enough credit either. 5 straight finals as the back-up PG of one of the best teams of all-time.
Flying V In my opinion he needs to be mentioned in the same realm as Ron Harper. Livingston was never a franchise player, but he showed great scoring promise before his injury. Where Ron Harper sacrificed his personal accolades, Sean Livingston sacrificed his body and his health to come back where a lot of players would’ve seen that as a career ending injury.
He torched Ray Allen. He was hitting contested shots nothing but net not saying a word. Both players are from Uconn and alumni just like to battle each other
Man I think about Jameer Nelson and Delonte West. That 2004 St. Joseph's squad was amazing. And was a single shot away from getting to the Final Four that year.
Remember when Andy hoops had 30k subs now he had 315k subs shows that hard work pays off this man one the most consistent youtubers (dwight is a first ballot hall of famer)
Emeka Okafor: the greatest what-ifs within the class alongside Shaun Livingston. Man, I remember that Okafor in the old NBA Live series, he seems to be a reliable youngster if you didn't get Dwight.
Beasts he said he still had to go to all the practices and do the team things, had to do the same work everyone else did and had to come sit on the bench when they had games
El-ahrairah charlie didnt want no part of the paint LOL. Tall as hell and only wanted to shoot threes. Would be perfect center for the current era though funny enough
I feel this was one of the most talented high school classes of all time. But, they went straight to the NBA so the jump may have been a little too much. Dwight of course is the exception, I wanted to see Livingston at Duke, Telfair dominate College as a PG, Josh Smith etc. Again I don't blame them for taking the money out of high school.
Anthony Hutchins the more people he named off I was like umm this draft was actually really solid good role players good starters for years I think he just needed an idea for a video
@Billboardguy1 true. But not every class can be special. What stands out is this class had longevity and great role players. Some of them are still valuable and key players to teams for a long time. Some still to this day
Top 10!? You're insane. I'll give you the HOF because I think that 5 year run he had is some of the most impressive defensive work I've ever seen but he is not up there with those guys...
It's not all his fault. It's easy to forget just how young most of these TH-cam creators really are. In 2004 we were watching the draft at the bar. These guys were watching the draft from their race car beds and in the third grade. So if they don't remember these guys early on or in college, it's hard to get the real story from box scores. Just like I missed the 1980's NBA because I was in grade school.
Okafor had a solid career. Unfortunately, the ceiling is low for players going into the draft being tagged as "the most nba ready". This usually means they are at their peak already.
@@jesserice7777 whether he was serious or not is irrelevant. His resume speaks for itself. yet people peg him as someone who doesnt deserve to be remembered because of personal feelings. Personal feelings shouldn't cloud a fans judgement on a players career.
Can't forget Ben Gordon he is the only rookie to win 6th man of the year and was the 4th qter go to guy for the Bulls.. and that playoff vs Boston he was on one
The Nets were perennial contenders when Kidd was on the team, Harris meanwhile *never* led the Nets to the playoffs. Kidd would also be key in finally getting Dallas a championship. I remember when the trade went down, most Mavs fans and Dallas media were unhappy with the trade, but I knew pairing him with Dirk would lead to a ring.
@JAY DOE Almost all those guys are 20 years older then Dwight. Are you serious???? Stick man Mutambo over Dwight?? Only few that would give Dwight problems is Shaq and Hakeem. The other centers are to weak and slow.
Back 2004 when nba is worth watching.. Every team has at least one superstar.. And me playing playstation.. I pick every star in the team to join my created team. That is my happiness on that time
Shuan Livingston....that dude is the man....love his game. Such a high release.....he was money Him and Iggy....my two favorite Warriors. I also loved watching Mo buckets
Dwight gets underrated because of the off court stuff. He's a top-ten center of all time imo and easy hall of Famer. And before anyone gives me shit for the top ten thing, he's a 3-time DPOY and a 5-time nba rebounding leader.
This class got killed because of advanced stats. Guys such as josh smith, Kevin martin, Tony Allen beno udrih and jr smith all had important roles in their teams but because they weren't efficient scorers(yes i know Allen was defensive stopper and hadnt had big role on offense) nobody execpt dwight and iggy is not in the league anymore from this class. I wish Tony Allen and Kevin martin are still in the league, they would be the perfect fit for today's NBA
Jameer Nelson's 2003-04 season at St. Joesph was legendary. Any of you guys who were too young to see that look it up. He was one missed three pointer at the buzzer from getting to the Final Four. Actually his response to that miss is something I'll never forget. He wasn't a bitch like say, Adam Morrison. Just the heartbreak was something you could feel through the screen.
Jameer Nelson was a decent player! He was national player of the year in college and a senior coming out! His game was together! He actually had one of his better seasons when Dwight Howard was gone (2012/13). After he left Orlando, he was a bench/veteran role player so that’s why his numbers went down.
Tony Allen was a super athletic scorer before he tore his acl, after that is when he became a defensive player. He had like 5 straight 20+ point games before the day of the injury
Iguodala was a beast back then. Explosive player, very fun to watch. He was often regarded as a poor man's version of LeBron James. Of course injuries happened and he was never the same.
This is actually a good draft. Not too many all-stars but a lot of starters and solid players that had long careers. I don't think we should just base it on all-stars.
Al Jefferson was the 2nd best in this class... He was underrated mostly because he was never in a winning team. He didn't have many fans due to his play style.
The disrespect to 00s kids, these guys made the 2010's nba so good on btv. I still remember everyone of them even the guy that for drafted by thunders.
Man my age is starting to show. I remember that Draft like it was yesterday's. Actually that Chicago draft class made me a Bulls fan. And I couldn't stand the Bulls of the 1990s.
Man Ben Gordon is so underrated in my opinion.... I mean I'm from Syracuse so I remember him from UConn during the Big East rivalry days and there's a reason he was drafted so high I can tell you that much, it was justified ... And even in the league he was a regular 20 - 25 a night scoring threat in his prime. That Bulls team probably wins at least one championship if not for LeBron going to Miami IMO
Can you do a video about Dwight. How was good was he in Orlando, how did he start decreasing, and reviving his career in LAL
4 ปีที่แล้ว
How was Dwight revived in LA? They signed on a day-to-day basis contract, meaning the Lakers had the right to cut him at any moment, for minimal money. Dwight needs something like that to keep him going or else he goes back to clown-mode.
I still find Devin Harris's NBA Career sad, he was really good when he was part of the Dallas Mavericks and New Jersey Nets. But after he got traded to Utah...he just began to fall off. After the 2018-19 season...he hasn't returned from the league and is likely retired
The 2004 NBA draft was a great draft year for defensive players.
Dwight Howard
Emeka Okafor
Andre Igoudala
Josh Smith

That is a really good point...great defensive players

The “Flashes of Brilliance” draft class...
Nailed it!
Honestly though
Also the, stuck around in the league way longer than you realized class
At least Iguodala can say he won a finals mvp. That's something for sure.
He’s 2nd best in this draft class imo. I don’t think Livingston gets enough credit either. 5 straight finals as the back-up PG of one of the best teams of all-time.
Kneeco after returning from a catastrophic knee injury
Flying V Right. Not to mention he has one of the best comeback stories in the NBA as he also had the worst injury of all-time in the NBA.
Curry deserved that FMVP but oh well 🤷
When I was younger I deadass use to confuse josh Childress and Shaun Livingston

They look exactly the same. They have to be next to each other to even notice a difference.
