Incredible focus on details. Many thanks for sharing. Would be good to learn more about the parts you will lubricate around the shutter and other relevant mechanisms.
Thanks much. Definitely plan on covering the critical lubrication points in the shutter video.
I just bought a K1000 which may be made in China, excited to check if it uses different viewfinder design
Lovely tutorial! Following along at home! Do you plan on doing a reassembly/rewiring video?
Yep. I'm planning a whole video dedicated to rewiring and calibrating the light meter. Probably after one or two videos on the shutter. Not sure exactly what the schedule will be.
It looks dangerous. I lost some prisms trying to get off the old adhesive tape with old foam. Even after adding ethanol, the prism coating often comes off
Shoot, that sucks. I wonder if the foam had already done its damage by the time you got to it. I asked some other more experienced camera repair folks and pretty much everyone recommended cleaning out the foam in this situation. But it could be one of those cases with no perfect solution. Each choice has its own risks.
@@SamsCameraBench thanks for your reply and recommendations. You have wonderful videos. It’s just my observation, maybe the paint was already weakened under foam. Twice, I got degraded prisms from good one. I don't know where I went wrong, 96% isopropyl alcohol is not supposed to degrade paint. Now I'm afraid even to breathe on the prism. I remove the foam but save the old adhesive tape, and apply the new foam to the wall around the prism.
