Commandos 2: Men of Courage is a definitive World War II real-time strategy and tactics game released by Eidos Interactive and Pyro Studios, and it is probably my favourite PC game of all time. Some of the missions in the game were inspired by famous WW2 movies. This is my full gameplay walkthrough with commentary of Level 9, Castle Colditz, which can serve as a guide for how to successfully complete the level.
Level Plot: In 1944, Paul Toledo is captured and taken to Colditz Castle where he is to be executed. The commandos Jack O'Hara, Sir Francis T Woolridge, Samuel Brooklyn and Rene Duchamp save him and they help the prisoners of war housed there escape by disguising them in German uniforms. While the prisoners escape, the commandos acquire top secret documents from three high-ranking German officers, revealing plans to devastate Paris with planted explosives before it is liberated.
The game sees players taking control of a squad of commandos (Green Beret, Sniper, Diver, Sapper, Driver, Spy, Thief, and Natasha) along with various allied units, as they sneak behind enemy lines to accomplish various missions in World War II, between 1941 and 1944, that will help them to thwart the war efforts of the Germans and the Japanese. The game also has an incredible music soundtrack by Mateo Pascual.
This is the original release of the game, currently available on Steam. I will also be reviewing the 2020 HD remaster soon.

Press Left Shift button while clicking of LMB on the uniform in order to give out a singgle uniform.
Do you know what is strange about this level? It takes place in the German town Colditz but the words on the signs above the buildings are actually Dutch not German. If you look at 12:23 for example, you see two times the word 'Brouwerij', which is the Dutch word for 'brewery', while it should be 'Brauerei' (which is the German word). I think the Spanish developers confused the two languages here (small mistake) but as a Dutch person I could not help but chuckle when I noticed this :)

@@SteveRamsdenTH-cam Strangely enough not haha so I don't know what happened here. But I do know it is still the case in the HD ''Remaster'' so they have not fixed it...
The way you select one item from a stack is holding shift on the item and that selects only one. Also pressing and holding F10 allows you to see the intractable items i.e Boxes, doors, closets... that way you dont miss any hidden item especially Bonus books and pressing F11 allows you to see all the Enemy soldiers in the vicinity.
Oh sorry I noticed later on in the video you mentioned F10 and F11

In 8:50 u can use the smoke to attract one of the 2 officers and open the door to them

Yeah it's a real maze!
I played this level twice in my life. Originally in 2002, and in 2021 with the remastered version. And both times i got lost.
For anyone feeling nostalgic about this level and wanting to have a similar experience, albeit, in first person, check out the 3rd level on Sniper Elite 5.
Can you please put the timings for when you find the bonus mission bits cos I’m missing one and I can’t watch the whole video to find the piece I’m missing 😫😫😭

they mentioned that in the briefing in the beginning Baret will do the comm
@@mangos1346I think anybody can operate the radio as long as the Green Beret is in the room, or as long as that character is holding the three pieces of the secret message
HI AD, CAN YOU SHOW ME THE WAY TO GET THE ENEMY UNIFORM? IN THIS MISSION, I HAVE TO RUN ALL OVER THE PLACE TO FIND ENOUGH UNIFORM TO GET THROUGH IT.
fuck I have 4 more prisoners and I have no idea where the hell they are. The objective arrow does not point anywhere useful
Suppose i select barret and i want thief to come at barret without camera move to thief is this possible?if yes then which key i should press?

This mission becomes kind of a slog when trying to find all the prisoners, honestly, it's the only mission in the game I feel that way about.

What's the point in wearing enemy uniforms, unless you're playing as Spy.
Enemy soldiers and officers, everyone except snipers, having a short range of view, which is colored deep green and the longer part of their view is colored light green. Snipers have only a long dark green field of view and they can recognize disguised commandos. Sometimes you need to walk, knockout, tie up and carry the enemy soldier away. If all of this is done in the light green point of view of the enemy, you get away with it. That's what the enemy uniforms help with. The Spy can use high rank uniform and it's not timed. He can use one uniform through a whole mission.
You got lots of points deducted for being discovered by the enemy.
I got only one objection to your gameplay, overusing the mouse. you could do things way faster using the keyboard
You're rushing it. Not a good practice when you're outnumbered a 100 to 1 . Ninja training involved a lot of patience training. Stillness. When i play the game, i couldn't care less about how long it takes. It can take a month for all i care. If i try to rush it, i make mistakes and trigger alarms, have to reload cause we got slaughtered,etc. I care about not being detected and to find all the jigsaw pieces to unlock the bonus missions. I enjoy the game by taking my time and savoring the feeling for the moment when my strategy will work and the enemy is none the wiser.
